Spotted for the first time lapping the Nürburgring recently, this super STI has a number of upgrades designed to sharpen the performance of the standard model. According to sources in Japan, this STI's ride height has been lowered by 0.5 inch and fitted with stiffer dampers and springs. The lightweight 18-inch wheels are wrapped in Bridgestone run-flat tires, while the brakes have been upgraded with the six-piston calipers from the Subaru Legacy STi S402. Finally, the engineers in Subaru City have tweaked the turbocharger and exhaust system of the turbocharged 2.0-liter boxer engine to generate beefier torque at lower revs and lift power from 300 horsepower to around 320 hp. Gear ratios have also been revised, with 1st through 4th gears positioned closer together while 5th and 6th gear have been made taller to enhance top-end speed, as the Spec C is expected to clear 165 mph. With the performance hardware of the Spec C out of the way, the design team turned to aerodynamics in order to add a little free horsepower. This little monster was sitting in a corner of Tachikawa Subaru when I was went to get my STi Forester serviced. 22000 kilometres on the dial- lightweight and loaded with performance extras including the DCCD diff control, roof mounted bonnet vent, IC water spray, Greddy BOV, carbon rear wing; just to name a few. 2.2 millon yen was all it was going for. Very good price.

FHI launched the Subaru Impreza WRX STI spec C Tokyo, December 21, 2010 - Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles, today introduced the "Subaru Impreza WRX spec C", a new addition to the current WRX STI line-up. The model goes on sale today through Subaru dealerships in Japan. Based on the Impreza WRX STI, the iconic sport model of Subaru, the WRX STI spec C model features enhanced engine and chassis performance as well as a lighter body on the premise of driving in motor sports. The model further strengthens its presence in the high performance car arena by offering sheer excitement and unique driving sensations as a distinctive sport model, in line with the performance level originally delivered by the Impreza WRX STI. The twin scroll turbocharger newly adopted ball bearings for the turbine axle bearing, and the ECU (Engine Control Unit) program was also exclusively tuned. Thus the engine of the spec C model increases the maximum torque, and provides quicker response and improved accelerating performance. The adoption of an aluminum engine hood, laminar window glasses and a downsized battery resulted in a lighter body, which further refines the model's driving performance. Thanks to its specially tuned front & rear suspensions, the chassis offers stable and linear driving control even in marginal driving conditions.
