Soundgarden is coming back to the airwaves with the release of the new Avengers movie, and we've got the scoop! After fifteen years, the band that brought you such hits as Black Hole Sun and Spoonman, Soundgarden is reuniting with a brand new single called Live to Rise, an original song that will be featured in the end credits of The Avengers, arriving in theaters May 4, 2012. Live to Rise will be included in the soundtrack, Avengers Assemble, a compilation of 14 tracks from and inspired by the film. When asked about their collaboration with Marvel, Soundgarden stated, "We've been hard at work on our new album, which will come out this Fall. When the opportunity arose to write an original song for 'Marvel's The Avengers' film came our way, we thought it could be a cool match. We are excited to release our new song 'Live To Rise,' which is also the only new song in the film. Here's a taste. Loudest of Love. In addition to Soundgarden, other bands to be featured on the soundtrack hitting stores and download May 1st include Rise Against, Papa Roach, Bush, Evanescence and Buckcherry. Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell paid tribute to Whitney Houston by rendering this beautiful performance of 'I Will Always Love You'. The ex-Audioslave man played the original 1974 Dolly Parton song at a fundraiser for Barack Obama's presidential re-election campaign here in San Francisco this Thursday (February 16 2012) Whitney Houston scored her biggest selling single with a cover of 'I Will Always Love You' for the soundtrack to 1992 film The Bodyguard, in which she made her acting debut. The late singer is being buried at a funeral in Newark, New Jersey today, with CNN and MSNBC and all other news networks covering the event on their news channels. The funeral service is also being streamed live on the internet and is attended by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and her co-star in The Bodyguard, Kevin Costner. Houston passed away last Saturday (February 11) at the age of 48 at the Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills.
