Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Sony Xperia S Test Comparison. We test the camera, display, processor and design of these pair of Android phones. The Samsung Galaxy S3 may have just been unveiled, however, a string of UK retailers have already announced that they'll be stocking the device, while some have even announced price plans and exclusive deals for UK buyers. Samsung is yet to reveal the handset-only cost of the device, however, the Samsung Galaxy S2 was available for about £500 on a SIM-free basis at launch, so we're guessing the S3 could possibly don a similar price tag. The Carphone Warehouse is offering the handset on a SIM-free basis for £499, so chances are rival retailers will be pricing the device at around the amount. However, online retailer unlocked-mobiles.co.uk has confirmed that it will be flogging the 16GB S3 for a SIM-free price of £549.98. 10000 jobs to go at Sony
10000 jobs around the world are to be cut at Sony. It's the result of an extraordinary last twelve months for the Japanese electronics giant which has been trying hard to shield itself from a huge battering to its bottom line. Axing 6% of its global workforce wasn't unexpected though: the firm lost $6.4 billion last year - that's double what they'd forecast to lose and it's the fourth year running they've been in the red. At a press conference Sony's Chief Financial Officer Masura Kato said he's prepared to take 'painful steps': 'There are many factors that have hit us, starting with the impact of last year's earthquake and tsunami. There's also been the continuing strength of the yen, flooding in Asia and a very difficult maturing market in the US, but looking ahead we will strive to return to profitability' And if you also throw in the news that Sony seems to have lost its mojo on the popularity front (Apple, LG and Samsung seem to be the real frontrunners right now), couple it with the weak demand for its TVs, and it looks like that road back to profitability could be a long and very eventful one. Sony says it will now focus on three business areas: digital imaging, games consoles and mobile devices.

CES 2012: NEW Sony's Crystal LED Display Technology
To learn more: www.sony.com We've developed the next-generation self-emitting display, "Crystal LED Display," and are showing our newest technology on a Full HD, 55-inch prototype model during CES 2012. It is the industry's first 55-inch Full HD self-emitting display using LEDs as the light source. The "Crystal LED Display" is a self-emitting display that uses Sony's unique methods to mount ultrafine LEDs in each of the Red-Green-Blue (RGB) colors, equivalent to the number of pixels (approximately six-million LEDs for Full HD). The RGB LED light source is mounted directly on the front of the display, dramatically improving the light use efficiency. This results in images with strikingly higher contrast (in both light and dark environments), wider color gamut, superb video image response time, and wider viewing angles when compared to existing LCD and plasma displays, with low power consumption. Furthermore, due to the display's structure, the "Crystal LED Display" is also ideal for large screens.
