Soap theme music
This is the theme music to the comedy series "Soap" which aired on ABC-TV from 1977-1981. The show was a weekly half-hour long primetime comedy and its format was similar to that of a daytime soap opera. It aired for four seasons and 85 episodes, some episodes of which were one hour long. (The hour-long episodes were later split in two, yielding 93 half-hour episodes for syndication.) The show was created, written, and produced by Susan Harris. The final four episodes of the series aired as one-hours during the original run on ABC. Each returning season was preceded by a 90-minute retrospective of the previous season. Two of these retrospectives were made available on VHS in 1994. All episodes are currently available on region 1 DVD in 4 separate box sets. In the past, the series has rerun on local syndicated channels as well as on cable on Comedy Central and TV Land. The version of the theme heard here is the "Open recap" cut of the theme, which was used when the events of a previous show were recapped by announcer Rod Roddy at the beginning of the show. This music was composed by George Aliceson Tipton.

How Soap is Made
Steve Kelly finds out how natural, organic soap is made when he visits The Rocky Mountain Soap Company, Canadas leader in 100% Natural Bath and Body products. How Soap Works. How does it work? Most soaps remove grease and dirt because some of their components are surfactants (surface-active agents). Surfactants have a molecular structure that acts as a link between water and the dirt particles. This loosens the particles from the underlying fibers or surfaces to be cleaned. One end of the molecule is hydrophilic (attracted to water), and the other is hydrophobic (attracted to substances that are not water soluble). This peculiar structure allows soap to adhere to substances that are otherwise insoluble in water. The dirt is then washed away with the soap.
