Snaring Rabbits - How to Set a Rabbit Snare
This is a video of my version of setting a rabbit snare...I was inspired to make this video and other videos, from a video I took of my father setting one last season. Check out my videos "Making a Rabbit Snare" and "Snaring Rabbits - Checking Rabbit Snares" The proof is in the pudding. It works! When searching for an area to snare, if there is no snow, rabbit droppings are a great indicator of the presence of rabbits. The droppings are about the same size and shape of the candy "smarties", with a grainy texture. You can also secure your snares to available cover if it is next to the area you selected to set the snare, rather than cutting and tieing to a tree limb. Snare Hieght Off Ground: 3 inches (lower limit)... 8 inches (upperlimit) These ranges should cover most sizes of rabbit...Adjust for your individual situation. I hope you watch and enjoy all my vids. Make sure your string is very strong. I like to use a braided twine that is treated with a non-slip coating to prevent knot slippage. Rob Carson SCV snare drum: rare footage from the 1970s!
This rare footage is from a three-part series produced by Larry McCormick in the 1970s featuring the Santa Clara Vanguard drumline — Building The Individual; Building The Section; Melodic Percussion. Each video was quite short; nothing has been edited from the original VHS. In this first part, 3-time Natianal Champion, Rob Carson gives a brief glimpse into his approach to rudimental drumming. It's the only footage I've ever seen of him from the '70s. The single-strokes @ 1:00 should easily convince anyone of just how extraordinary of a player he really was. There is some great vintage footage of the entire drumline as well. Rob Carson won 1st place at the amazingly young age of 14-years-old at the All American Championships in 1972. He went on to win DCI snare individuals in 1973. He placed 2nd in 1974 & 1975 (to Steve Chorazy) and 1976 (to Ken Mazur). He won 1st place again in 1978. How to Set a Spring Loaded Snare Trap
I took this video for a simple demonstration regarding my spin off the most basic of rabbit snares. I have caught many rabbits (technically hares) and even a possum or two using this simple mechanism. I have had good luck even without any sort of spring to tighten the wire, but as I say in the video, I prefer the additional security. Be sure to check local hunting and trapping regulations before setting any trap or snare. I am back at home now, and will be working on videos of some new PyroDirect products shortly. I also have a few more outdoor videos I'm excited for.
How I made my cajon and adjustable snare
This is how I made a cajon that sounds just as good as one that costs $150 for probably around $30-40! It also has an adjustable snare unlike many! The Snare wires are snare drum snares cut in half. You can get them for $15 at a guitar store. The slot for the arm was also cut out using a jigsaw. USE A COMPASS!!! If you don't have one, make one out of string! your slot will not allow easy sliding if it is not perfectly curved. That big block of wood behind the slot covers the slot so at no point can you see in the cajon from there. The url for the dimensions is www.wikihow.com however, the top and bottom are shorter in depth to allow a flat back to be put on. Make sure to use 1/8 in plywood for the front. It will not sound as good any thicker. Feel free to comment if you have any questions. Update: I now have a demonstration video uploaded!
