Snap (award winning short film)
An original idea by director Manolo Celi. A feature film screenplay inspired by this short is currently being developed. In the feature the photographer (Roberto Lequeux) makes his way through a swarm of unexpected twists and turns, living out a life altering rollercoaster ride. Unavoidable circumstances force him into alliances with unexpected characters who help him through a most stunningly unpredictable sequence of events, only to finally land with him on a far more capricious and unforeseeable conclusion. Serious funding inquiries accepted. The short film "Snap" is an exhilarating and entertaining short film conceived for the contest "The Florida Industry Incubator". The competition gives teams only 30 days from when the theme to follow is revealed. In this short time they must write, shoot, edit and deliver a 5 min. short film... all while spending no more than $500!

how to snap.... read the title... snap. THANKYOU TO JOLAR70 FOR INFO; This scene was from a documentary by Marlon Riggs called "Tongues Untied" (1989). Riggs was a poet, filmmaker, teacher, and activist and his film work was made at the height of the AIDS crisis in the US. It explored homosexuality, racism, and identity in the black community in that era. It was mostly serious but he obviously had a great sense of humor too. This clip is funny but "Tongues Untied" was also really groundbreaking in it's day. It's out on DVD. Riggs passed away in 1994.

Their first hit "The Power", a combination of house and hip hop elements, contained a number of unauthorised samples, taking the drum loop from "King of the Beats" by Mantronix, the rap from "Let the Words Flow" by Chill Rob G and the classic line "I've got the power" from "Love's Gonna Get You" by Jocelyn Brown. It was initially released in the United States through Wild Pitch Records, but after Chill Rob G threatened legal action, the rap was re-recorded by Turbo B (born Durron Maurice Butler, April 30, 1967 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), and additional vocals were recorded by Penny Ford (though the woman in the video is Jackie Harris), Jocelyn Brown's vocals still remain on the record. Here's a quick video on how to make old-fashioned Ginger Snap cookies - with molasses -- and a SECRET ingredient you WILL NOT BELIEVE!!! Part of YouTube Next Chef. Subscribe! youtube.com Facebook: facebook.com My Website: hilahcooking.com INGREDIENTS • 1 stick butter (1 pound) softened • 1/4 cup brown sugar • 1/4 cup white sugar • 1/2 cup molasses • 1 egg • 2 cups flour • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda • 1/2 teaspoon salt • 3 1/2 teaspoons ginger • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, finely ground • Additional white sugar for rolling (about 3/4 cup) INSTRUCTIONS Cream the butter with the sugars until well combined and fluffy looking. Add the molasses and the egg and mix well. Add the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, pepper and beat on medium speed until well combined and the batter looks smooth. Scrape the sides of the bowl to make sure all the butter and flour is in there. Refrigerate 1 hour or longer (up to 24 hours) When ready to bake, preheat oven to 370 degrees F. Lay parchment paper on cookie sheets, or lightly grease Roll balls of dough about the size of walnuts and coat in sugar. Place 1 1/2 inches apart and use the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar to flatten to circles about 2″ across. Bake 15 minutes or until the edges are browned. Cool on racks and store in an airtight container.

"The Power" is an electronic rap pop hit song for the group Snap! from its album "World Power". It was released as a single in 1990 and achieved great success in many countries. It is particularly known for its hook 'I've got the power!'. Written by Michael Muenzing and Luca Anzilotti under the pseudonyms Benito Benites and John 'Virgo' Garrett III and produced by Snap!, the third single by the Frankfurt-based dance rap group was their biggest hit.
