www.singularityweblog.com This Monday I interviewed Dr. David Ferrucci on Singularity 1 on 1. David is the IBM team leader behind Watson -- the computer that succeeded in dethroning humanity's greatest ever jeopardy champion -- Ken Jennings. I met both Dr. Ferrucci and Ken Jennings during last year's Singularity Summit where both of them spoke about Watson and the opportunities and challenges associated with it. It was then and there that I hatched my plan to get David (and Ken) on Singularity 1 on 1. I have to say that I learned a lot from and enjoyed talking to David very much. My favorite quote that I will take away from him is this: "Pursue the big challenges and do the big things that inspire people and make them scratch their heads." Interpreting the Singularity
As science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke has pointed out, any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. The gap between today and tomorrow is closing at a staggering rate, while the future continues to become more and more surreal. A perfect example comes from the work of inventor/futurist Ray Kurzweil, who often talks about a point sometime in the next 50 years when our rate of technological progress begins to approach the infinite—an event he calls "the Singularity." This essentially represents the event horizon of our own technological evolution, beyond which we simply cannot imagine. Is there actually something to the concept of the Singularity, or is it just a sort of mythical Rapture for tech geeks? What are the implications of such exponential advancement of technology to human consciousness? As data becomes more and more free, and therefore more and more ubiquitous, how can the Integral vision help us navigate the "global brain" currently under construction?

The Singularity (HUNGRY BEAST)
We've all seen films like Terminator and the Matrix. They imagine a future where machines have become conscious and aren't very nice. But the reality of this field is very different even if it does feel a lot like science fiction. The idea of The Singularity has been around for over 50 years. It had a small surge of media attention and in the 1990s and quickly died away. This decade however, it's back in the public eye and far less fringe than ever before. There is a Singularity University, a Singularity hub on Newsweek's website, a feature documentary about it and it made the cover of Time Magazine in February. The Singularity as defined by Singularitarians is this: our computers are getting faster and smarter at an exponential rate. Meaning they are getting faster at getting faster. Eventually they will be able to match human-level intelligence. When they do, they will take over their own development,; they will be conscious. At this point, the world changes and it is impossible to predict exactly what will happen after that point. Just like an event horizon in a black hole, so technological Singularitarians borrow the term from physics and call it a Singularity.

Singularity solo - Born of Osiris
Bah, took me a little while getting a new video up because I've been very busy, but here it is! And a BIG thanks to Liam Engl for teaching me this, he's my idol! :D Aand it's deifinitely a tricky solo which still needs a little bit of work, but it's hard to play it three times in a row and not make a single mistake. It's just for fun, so hope you like it! :) Aaand this is one of my favorite tracks off the Discovery album, which is basically the most amazing album ever! I start this part of the build log by doing the finishing touches to the water-cooling loop. I then move onto swapping the power supplies, almost finishing the wiring and installing the lighting. After that I fill the water-cooling loop and show the entire process. I have a quick guide on how to mix Mayhems Coolant Concentrates, and also on how to fill a water-cooling loop and leak test.
