Noodle physics simulation ;p - Blender and Bullet Physics

Quick noodle rigid body dynamics test using real-world relative scale. Details...: Pasta / spaghetti relative dimensions: 2.5mm dia., 250mm length, rigid bodies' mass (and centers of) calculated based on material densities, gravity: 9.8m/s. Physics are to scale, but unfortunately my movements (external forces) in the virtual world were too fast relative to the scale (and impatience due to simulation running slow ;) this was made obvious after rendering the frames and playing them back at real-time speed. Therefore movements and playback speed are not quite to scale. That's what tests are for... to learn from. The bizarre movements (using mouse): after dropping the fork in the glass I threw the glass, then threw the bowl, played with a noodle, then dragged the fork and threw it as well. Fork, bowl and glass are compounded HACD convex decompositions. Noodles are capsule strings (no longer sticking with full radius as margin). Step by step, we are slowly getting closer; one day we'll be able to easily simulate real-world physics using any arbitrary rigid body shapes... one day... NASA 2012 PLANET X SIMULATION LEAKED - MUST SEE!

In 1983 IRAS (Infrared Astronomical Satellite) spotted a red dwarf, later named M6V 11825 (Minoris). Shortly after they discovered it was moving towards us, and fearing public panic, withdrew their statement. After six months of studying the object, another red dwarf was found. It was named M6V 11826 (Majoris). The two had exited Gliese 881, which was once a trinary system. We now know that this process took approximately 1.2 billion years. The gravitational eddies from our neighboring star V645 Proxima Centauri is to blame. While 11826 was steadily moving away from the suns gravity well, towards Proxima Centauri, 11825 was discovered to have been in orbit around the sun for approximately 300 million years. There was wide speculation among the people who had access as to whether or not it wiped out the dinosaurs with a close pass. Indeed, it did. It is now known that the exact same thing is going to happen in 2012, as displayed in the simulation. It takes approximately 125 to 250 million years for the planetary orbits to repair themselves due to the gravitational riptides from Rigil Kentaurus. I have no further information. There were only 6 others who had access to the information at the time. Perhaps someone else will come forward. Please spread the word before this is forcibly removed. Or worse. A common tactic is to upload a video claiming it was a hoax, and a big joke. I am adding this to the description after they would have reviewed it, hopefully it will not be ...

IBM Battery 500: A look inside a lithium-air battery

In 2009, IBM researchers set out to develop lithium-air battery technology capable of powering a family-sized electric car for approximately 500 miles (800 km) on a single charge. Instead of using heavy metal oxides, lithium-air batteries borrow oxygen from the air as the vehicle is being driven, creating an air-breathing battery. This results in lighter batteries with high energy density that extend the car's range from a single charge. IBM researchers have successfully demonstrated in the lab the fundamental chemistry of the charge-and-recharge process for lithium-air batteries and, if this bold research project is successful, people could see it in cars between 2020 and 2030.

ERIS: World's first realistic simulation of the formation of the Milky Way

For almost 20 years astrophysicists have been trying to recreate the formation of spiral galaxies such as our Milky Way realistically. Now astrophysicists from the University of Zurich present the world's first realistic simulation of the formation of our home galaxy together with astronomers from the University of California at Santa Cruz. The new results were partly calculated on the computer of the Swiss National Supercomputing Center (CSCS) and show, for instance, that there has to be stars on the outer edge of the Milky Way. Realistic Nibiru Simulation

This is a simple simulation Nibiru using "Universe Sandbox" I am using popular theories regarding this supposed intruder such as the 4 Jupiter Masses and the Eccentric orbit of 3600 years. I use our actual solar system with our standard solar equation. I introduce a 4x Jupiter mass "Brown Dwarf" and make its orbit eccentric so that it comes past the outside of our solar system (not into it). Even in this scenario, Mercury gets thrown out of orbit almost instantly because of a minor collision when Nibiru is at its furthest from Earth. It has not even made its approach yet. By the time it has made its approach Earth, Venus and Mars have already been gone for 700 years never to return. This program uses the proper algorithms to reproduce all of the relative effects of gravity. If you add a planet, its gravity is used in the solar equation. If you add another star, its gravity is used in the solar equation. This is a simulation to show that Nibiru or any other large mass in or near our solar system cannot exist. If it did exist then we would already be dead and you would not be reading this forward note or watching this video. And I dont mean dead as in "all humans are extinct" I mean dead as in Earth is no longer here at all. Titanic Sinking Simulation - Updated 2012

This animation was created during James Cameron's - Final Word Documentary on National Geographic. It shows a different scenario for the ship's sinking than the one shown in the feature film in 1997. Cameron was tempted to use the new animation in the film's 3D release in April 2012 however decided that the original animation was as good as it could have been for the information he and his researchers had at the time of filming. Main changes: Only 23 degrees of trim was reached by the stern The stern did not bob about on the surface for a couple of minutes The double bottom was the remaining piece holding the structure together and when it eventually failed it was left attached to the stern which flooded, sank and the waterflow over the double bottom broke it off and flung it away from the wreck site explaining its final resting position Also notice the effect of the hydraulic downblast and outburst on the structures when both hit the bottom. This is due to the wake of water the ship leaves behind it when it is travelling to the bottom. When each piece finally hits the seabed it stops dead, however the water flow above it keeps going and crashes down on each part collapsing the decks on top of each other and flattening the structures. Augmented Reality Sandbox with Real-Time Water Flow Simulation

Video of a sandbox equipped with a Kinect 3D camera and a projector to project a real-time colored topographic map with contour lines onto the sand surface. The sandbox lets virtual water flow over the surface using a GPU-based simulation of the Saint-Venant set of shallow water equations. We (the UC Davis WM Keck Center for Active Visualization in the Earth Sciences, www.keckcaves.org) built this for an NSF-funded project on informal science education. These AR sandboxes will be set up as hands-on exhibits in science museums, such as the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) or Lawrence Hall of Science. Bolshoi Simulation of the Universe [720p]

The Bolshoi simulation is the most accurate cosmological simulation of the evolution of the large-scale structure of the universe yet made ("bolshoi" is the Russian word for "great" or "grand"). The first two of a series of research papers describing Bolshoi and its implications have been accepted for publication in the Astrophysical Journal. The first data release of Bolshoi outputs, including output from Bolshoi and also the BigBolshoi or MultiDark simulation of a volume 64 times bigger than Bolshoi, has just been made publicly available to the world's astronomers and astrophysicists. The starting point for Bolshoi was the best ground- and space-based observations, including NASA's long-running and highly successful WMAP Explorer mission that has been mapping the light of the Big Bang in the entire sky. One of the world's fastest supercomputers then calculated the evolution of a typical region of the universe a billion light years across. The Bolshoi simulation took 6 million cpu hours to run on the Pleiades supercomputer—recently ranked as seventh fastest of the world's top 500 supercomputers—at NASA Ames Research Center. Voronoi Fracture and Shatter Lab Tests - Blender & Bullet Physics

Series of simple voronoi fracture and shatter tests created using Phymec Tools. Scenes were all setup quickly, simulated in real-time, and rendered overnight. Didn't bother much with details or texturing. Rigid body / shard count kept reasonably low for these simple tests. These are primarily intended to be simple illustrative examples for some of the uses for voronoi fracture and shatter tools. The only real issue I've faced creating these is that I wasn't able to reliably retrieve from BGE the correct pre- and post-collision (immediately before and after) linear and angular velocities of rigid bodies involved in collisions in order to accurately calculate the post-collision velocities.
