The video shows a mother grabbing her four-year-old son and running for cover. A man sitting right by the back door is frozen, and can only slump back in his seat. And this 80-year-old woman doesn't know what to do. "You see her very clearly because she doesn't actually see what's going on. She's sort of left standing in the middle of the bus as everyone has sort of separated all the way to the front or all the way as far as they could go to the back," said Morgan Model Vedejs, assistant District Attorney. The elderly woman finally drops and covers her head, just a moment before a bullet flies right over her and shatters a window. "At least five of the bullets came right through the back door, several of them then came through the side," said Vedejs. Many of the other passengers ran toward the front of the bus, and piled on top of each other, desperate to get off. The man who criticized Chapman's parenting-- the target of all those bullets, according to prosecutors-- dove right on top of that four-year-old boy. The bus driver then gunned it, and got left the scene. The bus was carrying 10 to 15 passengers at the time of the shooting. In this video I attempt to shoot pigeons out of the sky. When you view the video, it seems like it shouldn't be too difficult to pluck them out of mid air, but this is not Nintendo Duck Hunt. The birds are moving very fast, requiring a substantial lead with the shot. They also change direction rapidly. And no matter how "thick" a flock of pigeons looks, there is MUCH more open space than "pigeon space". I realize that many may attempt to use this video to demonize me - calling me a hypocrite for not adhering to the "one shot, one kill" philosophy. I knew that making might haunt me a bit. But, with a semi-auto, I could unload on any animals not killed immediately. This is something I can not do with my single shot. And this is also something that every bird hunter on earth must deal with. I've shot countless ducks and pheasants with a perfectly-placed shotgun blast - yet it still required a 2nd shot to finish them off. It's just the way it is. Anyone who says otherwise is blowing smoke. Had I winged a bird, it would not have suffered long at all considering the rapid-fire accuracy of this gun. And I made certain to not fire on any that were flying over the corn field, so as not to lose them. I'm always torn between making long explanations [like this one] of my actions, or just getting to the footage ...

Two men — Tyson Mimms, 24 and Craig Bland Jr., 22 — were killed Thursday afternoon in a shooting that attracted dozens of onlookers anxious for answers in the city's Russell neighborhood, which is dotted with boarded-up houses. As police investigated and a host of media gathered nearby, shots rang out about four houses down. Makeba Lee, 24, was killed after she was shot by a woman who had gotten into an argument with her about the incident, police said. That woman was later wounded by police and taken to the hospital, Louisville Metro Police Chief Steve Conrad. Jefferson County chief deputy coroner Jo-Ann Farmer identified the three slain people on Thursday night. Police have not released a motive for the first shooting, which also wounded at least three other people. There appears to be no connection between the slayings, Conrad said. "We had people at the scene yelling," said Conrad, who spent his day in the neighborhood west of downtown working with officers in that precinct before the shootings. "I don't know if that played a role or not. This level of violent behavior is unacceptable." Real Tracking and Shooting Portal Turret
This is the final project for my Advanced Mechatronics class at Penn State University. The robot is the skeleton of a turret from the game Portal that uses an IP webcam to track a target and fire nerf bullets at them. This is the current state of the robot as of 5/9/12, but I am currently molding a shell for the frame to make it look like the Portal turret, along with improving my code to make the tracking faster. All programming is done with MATLAB and Arduino. Enjoy!

M1 CARBINE POV SHOOTING
Have you ever shot a .30 M1 carbine? This video gives you a true first-person POV shooting experience, as the Sony HD camcorder is mounted to the stock of the rifle and looking down the barrel. This is a 1943 Inland General Motors model, although I accept the fact that after several decades, components of the rifle could be from several manufacturers. Target distances up to 200 yards. Ammo was a mix of 110 gr FMJ Magtech and Prvi Partizan. Steel AR500 targets are from Mike Gibson. Bullets simply shatter upon impact. This was probably my most difficult POV setup to date. I really wanted the bolt to be in the picture, which required mounting the camera further back than normal. As a result, the camcorder was very close to my forehead during this process, leaving a few bruises as a reminder of this shooting session. Camera was mounted in order to peer underneath and view the sights. Due to the camera setup, my natural hold, sight picture, and trigger control on the M1 were all somewhat impacted. A gunman opened fire Monday morning at a small Christian university in Oakland, Calif., killing seven people and wounding three, according to the City of Oakland. Earlier reports said five had been killed. "10 people were injured during this morning's shooting, 7 of which are fatalities," Cynthia Perkins, a public safety official, said in a statement. The Oakland Police Department said a possible suspect was in custody. "No imminent public safety threat appears to exist in immediate area," the department said on its twitter account. Some of the wounded at Oikos University were taken away by ambulance, while others were cared for outside the building, the Oakland Tribune reported. The school's director said the suspect had previously been a nursing student at Oikos but was no longer enrolled, the Tribune reported. He was unsure if the man had been expelled or dropped out. Police had been looking for a gunman described as a Korean man in his 40s who allegedly carried out the attack on Oikos University, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The man had a heavy build and was wearing khaki clothing, police said. Angie Johnson told the San Francisco Chronicle that she saw a young woman leave the building with blood coming from her arm and crying: "I've been shot. I've been shot." www.euronews.com A number of Afghan families are in mourning after a US soldier killed at least 16 civilians in a night-time shooting spree. Women, children and elderly men are among the dead. The man left his base in Kandahar province and entered people's homes in the early hours, apparently shooting people at random. One reporter for the AFP news agency said he saw the bodies of ten people in one house alone, adding that they had been burned. Another five people were reportedly wounded. NATO is investigating what it calls the 'deeply regrettable incident'. The soldier is said to have suffered a breakdown before the attack. "All we know so far is that he left the base, he returned to the base after the incident, was taken into custody straightaway and the investigation is ongoing, which will include what was the reasoning and what were the circumstances of his doings," said General Carsten Jacobson, a spokesman for a NATO-led ISAF coalition in Afghanistan. Anti-American feeling is already high after US soldiers burned a copy of the Koran last month, triggering widespread protests. Repeated apologies from US officials failed to prevent reprisals. EoTech & AR15 Carbine POV Shooting
A Sony HD camcorder is mounted to the retractable stock of an AR15 carbine, giving you a first-person shooting experience through an EoTech 516 Holographic Weapons System. Distances up to 215 yards, laser measured. These distances might appear shorter than they actually are due to the camera perspective viewing through the EoTech. During my February 2012 review, I sighted the EOTech at 50 yards, which provided an accurate 200 yard zero. Just to be clear regarding this setup, I am aiming through the camera viewinder screen, so expect a few misses. The AR is a Rock River Arms upper receiver with 16" barrel and Bushmaster lower. I am using .223 Remington, Fiocchi 55 gr FMJ primarily, but also a few rounds of Hornady 55 gr VMAX. The "ground target" in the 150 and 175 yard segments is an old homemade boilerplate steel target. .22 LR TRACERS SHOOTING MONTAGE
"Musical" shooting montage with the .22 LR 40 grain Piney Mountain tracers and Ruger 10/22. Crank up the volume! This cartridge definitely 'lights up". At an advertised 1070 fps it is subsonic, and the bullet has a noticeable drop in elevation beyond 50 yards. The load for me is low-powered compared to other 40 gr loads and has a tendency to jam during rapid fire. This video features distances of 25 to 75 yards in controlled conditions at AR500 steel targets. For the "true" POV segments, camera was mounted to the rifle, either on the side or top. Otherwise, the camera was tripod mounted as is the norm in my videos. Filmed in my backyard, I was the only person in the area. You can find these tracers online for approximately $20 to $25 for a box of 50 rounds. The targets were purchased from Mike Gibson Targets, www.mgmtargets.com . This ammo is dirtier than typical target ammo but I have not noticed any harm to the stainless barrel. It gets cleaned thoroughly after each session with tracers. The shots are timed as close as possible to the background music. I would listen to the soundtrack before recording each segment in order to maintain the beat. It doesn't hurt that I have a music background! PLEASE NOTE: You need optimum ground and weather conditions for shooting any type of tracers; they can be highly flammable. EOTech 516 Review & POV Shooting
Brief overview of the EOTech 516 Holographic Weapons Sight, including POV/first person shooting through the sight. Video includes overview of some of the key specifications, reticle display, summary of the sight-in session, and concludes with POV shooting at 50 to 60 yards. I hope to post future POV shooting sessions at longer distances. Sight is mounted to my AR15 carbine; Rock River Arms upper receiver with 16" barrel and Bushmaster lower. This is my second EOTech. I previously owned a model 552 but a reflective lens inside the unit broke after the warranty expired. I tried to repair this defect myself, but was unable to do so. EOTech would not repair the unit beyond the warranty, especially after I had made my own attempt to repair. The unit had not been abused, it simply broke. Target shooting the .30 M1 Carbine at a laser-measured 250 yards in a stiff 10-15 mph wind. Using iron sights, no scope. This rifle is a 1943 Inland/General Motors. I'm using AR500 steel targets from Mike Gibson Targets. Ammo is 110 grain FMJ from Prvi Partizan. This open-sight shooting exhibition showed the accuracy potential of the M1 carbine at what many believe is at or beyond its effective range. However, it also showcased how the lower velocity of this round compared to newer cartridges (or .30-06 from an M1 Garand, for example) causes the bullet to drop like a rock. The comparative lower energy delivered at this distance was also notable. This session was cleared with the property owners of a huge tract of land, surround by more large tracts of land. Backstops were confirmed. No cattle were harmed during the production of this video. Filmed with two Sony HD AVCHD camcorders; HDR-CX560 at 28 mbps 60p and HDR-CX110 at 24 mbps.
