The video was edited from two visits to the Star Barber and Hairdressers in Kalutura, Sri Lanka, during a xmas holiday in 2011. I've edited out a fair bit of the shave part because it was just long closeups of the barbers back. In total it took around 20 minutes for the shave and massage together, it cost me 300 rupees, approx £1.45 / $2.35US. The oil used for the head massage was a strong menthol, when you see the barber blowing on the back of my head it gives a very cool and refreshing feel. It's the first time i've had that done at any barbers, I thought it was a really good touch. The aftershave lotion was a typical Indian sandalwood scent. The music is Mahamoolmantra ( The Beej Mantra for Meditation ) and Ganesh Smaranem ( Invocation of Maha Ganesha ).

This is a 10 minute instructional video showing how to shave yourself using a straight razor. The razor used is perfect for daily straight razor shaving - it is called a shavette - a straight razor using disposable blades. This type of razor is most common in barbershops for hot towel shaves. The techniques used here are by no means perfect or textbook. Each man needs to discover what works for him. How to cut a mohawk on your own with long hair
After over a year of not having a mohawk I had to have another one. All my previous videos were only on dying and putting up a mohawk and I had no videos about how to cut a mohawk so here it is. So when you cut a mohawk on your own, I recommend a few things. 1. Comb up the hair you want to be the mohawk and put it all into little ponytails (if you have short hair you dont need to do this) 2. Have a friend to help you with the back (The ponytails will serve as a guide where to cut so anybody can do this). 3. Shave off about the last inch of your mohawk near your neck (This makes it so when your mohawk is up it doesn't get caught on your jacket or hood).
