Seasons In The Sun - Terry Jacks 1974
Seasons in the Sun" was a worldwide hit song for Terry Jacks in 1974. It was first released in the United States and Canada early in the year, and rose to number one in America by March 2. An earlier recording appeared on The Kingston Trio's 1963 album, Time to Think. The song had also been done by English band The Fortunes in 1968, and by Pearls Before Swine in 1970/71. The song was based on "Le Moribond" ("The Dying Man"), written by Jacques Brel in 1961. Brel's song was translated into English by poet Rod McKuen and this version was first recorded by Bob Shane of the Kingston Trio, but it did not sell. The Beach Boys also recorded the song but it was never released. Terry Jacks, who had participated in the Beach Boys recording, and who had in fact introduced the song to the group, rewrote part of the lyrics to "lighten them up." Jacks' revisions tended to add a bit of ambiguity as to the nature of the storyteller's demise, allowing listeners the option to choose whether the death is from suicide over a failed life - quite possibly to escape drug addiction - or someone accepting death from natural causes, or cancer. References to a cheating wife were also removed.

Simon Fraser University: Communication 428, summer 2010 Professor: Stephen Kliine Purpose: To create a video that educates young children about a complex scientific phenomena. Science is the heart of the video and the idea was to translate scientific information into a fun and engaging medium for young children. Goal: Children (approx. 8 yrs old) will grasp the concept of seasons. Children will learn that it is the tilt of the earths axis that causes seasons to change amongst other important information such as the earths revolution around the sun. Abstract ideas about hemispheres and the suns energy will be understood because they are clearly illustrated in our animation and photoshop graphics.

The film explores what it means to be a full time rider as told through the lives of downhill racers, slopestyle competitors, and big mountain freeriders. The main riders in the film are: Darren Berrecloth, Matt Hunter, Cam McCaul, Steve Peat, Andrew Shandro, Steve Smith, and Thomas Vanderham. There will also be some guest appearances by others who cross paths with the main seven riders. The Collective has been working on Seasons non-stop for the last twelve months, and is now in post production on the film, cutting together footage from multiple shoots with every rider, ranging from slopestyle competitions to World Cup downhill races, to epic backcountry freeride shoots. "The film has been a ton of work for everyone involved," says Jamie Houssian of The Collective, "so it's nice to finally see it come together in the studio. Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons
"A Change of Seasons" is the first track from the EP "A Change of Seasons" by United States progressive metal band Dream Theater. It is a metal suite with lyrics written by drummer Mike Portnoy and is the band's fourth longest song, behind "Octavarium" (24 minutes), "In the Presence of Enemies" (25 minutes, 38 seconds), and "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" (42 minutes, 4 seconds). According to Portnoy's answer to a question in his website FAQ: "Basically, I took a lot of personal incidents, like losing my mother and a couple of things that happened in my life, and I wrote them into the lyrics. Like, on a smaller scale, I wouldn't try to compare it with this, but when I listen to Pink Floyd's The Wall, there are a lot of emotions there - just a lot of frustrations and anger. He goes full circle, the character. He has a child and just as he's about to pass on and die, now his son is going to have to live the life he did and go through those same experiences." This song is often considered Dream Theater's magnum opus, along with Metropolis Pt.1: The Miracle and the Sleeper, showing their ability not only to compose and play their instruments, but also their lyrical maturity. Summer gives way to Autumn! Mossberg 590 A1 with 1-oz slugs At the risk of sounding self-serving, I find myself wanting to watch this video again and again. I love it. The slow motion is just way too sexy! John "done" good on this one! :-) The shooting part was easy, except that I really did not want to miss and have to reload a shell or two. The gun just holds 7+1 with slugs. Editorial comment: PLEASE try to avoid revealing your ignorance about how the economy works and why there are people starving. If you think destroying watermelons or pumpkins is "heartless" or contributing to somebody's starvation, I feel sorry for you. I suggest that even if you think this that you refrain from commenting to that effect; believe me, it just makes you look very ignorant. The Burning Season
Dorjee Sun, a 32 year old Australian, travels the globe in pursuit of a carbon trading deal that could protect millions of hectares of pristine rainforest, save the orangutan from extinction -- and make him a fortune. The young environmental entrepreneur believes there's money to be made from saving rainforests in Indonesia and making a real impact on climate change. His plan relies on his ability to convince the wealthy, high polluting corporations of the west that they are the key to the planet's environmental future. But the scale of the problem is enormous. Rainforest areas equivalent to 300 football fields are cut down and burnt every hour to clear land for crops such as palm oil. As a result of this massive rate of deforestation, Indonesia is now the third largest emitter of greenhouse gasses in the world. The perpetrators are primarily large-scale corporations seeking a quick profit. But there are also millions of subsistence farmers who use fire as a low cost method of clearing land. One such farmer, Achmadi wrestles with the dilemma of contributing to climate change and needing a viable alternative so he can feed his family and put his daughter through school. The annual burning season in Indonesia has many casualties. In Borneo, wildlife carer Lone Droscher-Nielsen rescues and cares for orangutans injured and orphaned by the fires.
