We were away on Vacation. My friends from England were on Holiday. We went to the beach. I thought the song by The Kooks, Seaside, was a good song to cut photos into video. I'm now gonna get back to getting this show on the road.

They shut down the beaches at Seaside Park yesterday for this shark that was casually cruising south. After a fisherman started casting out for it, the shark headed for shore to give everyone a closer look. The good stuff starts about 45 seconds in. Jury is still out on what type of shark...please weigh in.

Seaside Heights Sun and Fun Promo Tourism Film 1960
This promotional film from 1960 was discovered by Peter J. Smith, Director of the Seaside Heights Office of Public Relations in May 2008, and was converted to modern video format by Joe Verderosa of Greenrose Media. Peter had seen this film once before in his life, when it was shown by Mr. Hugh J. Boyd, Principal of his namesake school in Seaside Heights. Peter spent five years looking for this video inside the Borough Hall. One day, he had to reach high on a shelf to retrieve a box of 8 radios. However, the box only had 7 radios inside. This made him grab a stepladder and look for the radio. The radio was found on top of a reel of film, which turned out to be the long-lost Sun and Fun video. We like to think that the spirit of J. Stanley Tunney, who appears in this film, and is believed to occassionally make a paranormal visit to the Borough Hall, led us to this valuable piece of history. NOW ON DVD AN BY POPULAR DEMAND! Down at the Sea-side!
Finally a day with a good southerly wind and a dry airmass instead of the usual grot associated with this wind direction. 5 DSGC gliders braved the rough aero-tows down to the Sidmouth cliffs, where fun was had on an epic scale. The walkers on the cliff tops seemed to enjoy the show and hopefully a few might risk a trip to our club to try gliding themselves. There was even wave off the cliffs which allowed all of us to climb high enough to easily glide back home. A fantastic days flying! Error in the credits the first song is Disappear Here by Hybrid

TERRY DACTYL AND THE DINOSAURS - Seaside Shuffle
Terry Dactyl and the Dinosaurs was the specially created name for Brett Marvin and the Thunderbolts to promote the hit single 'Seaside Shuffle,' band members being percussionist and performance artist Keef Trouble, drummer John Randall, guitarist Graham Hine and pianist and vocalist Jona Lewie. Brett Marvin and the Thunderbolts had already been invited to play at London's Studio 51 Club by the late British blues singer, Jo Ann Kelly. They soon became the resident band there, and for four years ran a Sunday session as a drop-in spot for blues musicians. Amongst the famous visitors were: Howlin' Wolf, Fred McDowell, Dave Kelly, Medicine Head, Steve Miller Band, Lol Coxhill, Mick Taylor, Larry Johnson, Tony McPhee, The Groundhogs and Long John Baldry. Brett Marvin's mainstream hit was with "Seaside Shuffle" (1972), released under the one-off 'nom de disque' of Terry Dactyl and The Dinosaurs, band members being fellow Bretts Keef Trouble, Jona Lewie, John Randall, and Graham Hine. Sometimes believed to be borrowed (see below) from Mungo Jerry's 1970 chart-topper "In the Summertime", "Seaside Shuffle" was an unashamedly commercial disc, quite at odds with the Thunderbolts' usual delta blues style.[citation needed] Jona Lewie composed the lyrics and melody to the song. In production, Keef Trouble suggested adding sound effects of gulls, thunder, rain, and moving car to enhance the record. The track was issued on the UK Records label, and reached number 2 in the UK Singles Chart ...

Paul and I were both born in the same year, 1956. You gotta love the guy. Extremely handsome (for a guy I may add), and with one of the best male voices of all time. Back then, I think half the female population wanted to bear his children. :) Here is a video that I recall watching here in the states, way back when... I guess 1982 or there-abouts. It's a bit low quality and grainy (looks like it was ripped from a VHS tape), but since I did not see it here on YouTube, here it is. And yes, Paul looks a lot older now, and was recently on Hell's Kitchen UK. Bless him, I hope he can hold out and somehow make a comeback of sorts (even tho it is reported he had throat problems quite a while back in the '90's).

Seaside Oregon Beach July 2010 HD
Right now Portland and Seattle are having a heat wave, here at Seaside Oregon the fog keeps moving in and out obscuring the sunshine. Still there are a lot of people around from all over the USA - Illinois, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and California (vehicle licence plates) but the resort is not full. There are plenty of 'vacancy' signs at hotel/motel and resorts and we had no difficulty finding a parking spot less than 100 yards from the beach. Although not sunny, the air is warm and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Lots of families giving kids memories for a life time. Cindy was here as a kid with her family to many years ago to mention but those memories still brighten her up.
