A slideshow of the top 100 spaceships of all time from science fiction television and movies. But not video games, comic books, art or novels - I may add those in another version of this YouTube later. No need to email me that the Normandy didn't make it. 1945A - WWII Sci-fi Film
It's 1945, and the Allies are on the verge of winning World War II, when suddenly the Nazis unleash an arsenal of super weapons straight out of science fiction turning the tides in their favor. This presentation was done on a VERY small budget. All the tanks and vehicles (Willy's jeep, Stuart tank, Sherman tank, Nazi "Spider" tank) were done with 1:6 scale models, not CGI. The idea of a planetary smash-up is a staple of science fiction, but can it really happen? Astronomers using NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope think they've actually seen the aftermath of such a collision around another star. The story unfolded as Dr. Casey Lisse and his team studied disks around young stars. Once planets have formed astronomers think there are a lot of left-over asteroids in the system. They occasionally slam together and produce dusty debris. Spitzer's Infrared Spectrograph was designed to detect the faint glow from this material. By spreading the light out into its component colors, astronomers can look for the spectral fingerprints of different minerals. Our dusty star of interest is a faint speck known as HD 172555. It's about 100 light years away and 12 million years old which, compared to our 4.5 billion year old Sun, is like a baby born a few days ago. Studying its spectrum, Dr. Lisse and his colleagues realized they had found something very peculiar that they had not seen around other stars. Aside from the usual indicators of rocky rubble, they found features corresponding to tektite, obsidian, and silicon monoxide gas. To celebrate 10 000 subscribers, I have uploaded my sci-fi short "Kontakt" from 2009! Thanks to everyone who have supported me so far on Youtube! :) My graduation film at NordlandCollege of Art and Film, "Kontakt" ("Contact"), is a science fiction short. All my life I have dreamed about making a science fiction film so this was a fantastic opportunity for me. In addition of being the screenplay writer, director, editor and sound designer in this film, I also made special effects such as UFO lights and special alien eyes that glowed. In 2010 "Kontakt" won the price for "The best student sci-fi short" at the "International Horror and Sci-fi festival" in Phoenix, Arizona. This is the first award I have won :) Story: Martin is extremely interested in aliens. Every week he finds a place to sit and study the sky for Ufos. One day, deep in the forest, he accidentally meets Lene, a vain girl from school. She is on her way to a party, but has got lost. Suddenly a lightning object flies across the sky, towards an abandoned house in the forest. In spite to Martins warnings, Lene runs into the house, and Martin must protect her from the mysterious visit.
