The Twilight Samurai or Tasogare Seibei (たそがれ清兵衛?, literally "Twilight Seibei") is a 2002 Japanese film directed by Yoji Yamada. Set in mid-19th century Japan, a few years before the Meiji Restoration, it follows the life of Seibei Iguchi, a low-ranking samurai employed as a bureaucrat. Poor, but not destitute, he still manages to lead a content and happy life with his daughters and senile mother. Through an unfortunate turn of events, the turbulent times conspire against him.

Samurai Sword
On a trip to Kyoto, Waka sensei, my friend Naho and I stumbled on a shop that stocks swords and samurai armor called Tozando. It was a treasure trove that the makers of Kill Bill would be proud of. In fact, the craftsmen who made the armor stocked in the shop also made the armor used in "The Last Samurai" with Tom Cruise. According to the guy we spoke to, the armor and swords were all made recently but the armor was modeled in the style of the Sengoku period or "Warring states period" roughly 1478 to 1605. The craftsman ship was just incredible. The owners of Tozando kindly let us film in their shop and patiently answered all my questions. Samurai Princess
Samurai Princess takes place sometime, somewhere, in an alternate universe version of feudal Japan where people live together with highly developed mechanical dolls. Under the circumstances, Kyoraku, a mad scientist, creates a female ninja mechanical doll. Equipped with 11 types of built-in weapons, the ninja doll is infused with the souls of eleven of her fallen sisters and she uses their combined power to take down anyone who stands in the way. The ninja doll will not die even if she is slashed by a sword or shot by a gun; she is virtually indestructible on her quest to save humanity.

Samurai Photographs of the Nineteenth Century
These Photographs were taken in the final days of the samurai class, before its abolition in 1867. It should be noted that some of these photographs date to the Meiji period. Many of these pictures were taken in the 1880's -therefore they show former samurai, or sometimes just ordinary people posing as samurai. NOTE: The last few pictures seen in this video show Tokugawa Yoshinobu, Japan's last Shogun and the famous reformer, Sakamoto Ryoma, who played a pivotal role in the modernisation of the country. We also see the new Police force(The seated uniformed man with the katana) as well as the last picture which displays the European military reformers and the westernized Japanese officers. Although these aren't samurai, they were added to show the revolutionary changes that were taking place in Japanese society at this time. Several of these Photographs were taken by the renowned photographer Felice Beato and his pupil, Raimund von Stillfried.
