Harold Lloyd's "Safety Last"- 1923
As my final project for my music composition course, I wrote original music to this scene from Harold Lloyd's silent film "Safety Last". Harold is trying to get away from a police officer by climbing a building...but he's having a little trouble, isn't he? The original scene is 20 minutes long, so I cut it down to 7 and a half. At about 6:45 into the clip, I used the song "Stumbling" by Zez Confrey. Enjoy.

Safety Sphere - Ultimate motorcycle airbag suit
Rejean Neron's Safety Sphere is a protective suit which inflates to a man-sized sphere, completely enveloping the rider in the event of a crash. It inflates in five hundredths of a second, cushioning the rider for any impact (except perhaps those into giant spikes) and consists of a loose fitting coverall suit comprised of two layers of fabric. Neron explains: "The outer layer is made up of a highly resistant parachute type material. The inner layer is made up of a thin, moderately elastic synthetic material. In a collision situation, the passengers are thrown from the motorcycle, the cord connecting them to the motorcycle seat disconnects, the electrical voltage plummets, and the electronic circuit processor inside the belt buckle housing of each occupant connects the 9 volt battery to an electric igniter in the back housing of their respective suits." This triggers the firing of an explosive canister of propellant called nitrocellulose. Neron is a motorcycling idealist who believes bikes could play a massive role in alleviating congestion in 21st century cities, if only riders' fear of crashing's consequences could be reduced to those of the prang-happy car driver. He's been working on the Safety Sphere for many years, through 'countless' iterations and is now looking for backing to bring the design to production. NFPA's New Electrical Safety PSA
The National Fire Protection Association is encouraging you to get grounded in the basics of electrical safety. According to the NFPA, electrical distribution and lighting equipment were involved in an estimated 20900 reported home structure fires in 2005. SAFETY IN THE BALANCE
Astraeus Airlines Captain and legendary Iron Maiden front man, Bruce Dickinson, is the presenter of a brand new safety production. Safety in the Balance is part of a joint initiative by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the UK aviation industry to highlight the importance of safe and accurate aircraft loading. The DVD, which is being distributed free of charge, was filmed throughout 2010 by FdA TV Production students and staff from Exeter College in Devon. It was commissioned by the Ground Handling Operations Safety Team (GHOST), a CAA/industry group committed to develop strategies to mitigate the safety risks from aircraft ground handling and ground support activities. The group is made up of representatives from UK airlines and airport operators. Many thanks goes out to all those who made this video possible. Specially Bruce Dickinson (Astraeus) & Jason Sandever (CAA). Many thanks also to the production team from Exeter College who delivered. Worker Safety During Construction of the Golden Gate Bridge
This clip describes the installation of a safety net during the construction of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge on the order of bridge engineer Joseph Strauss. The clip suggests that the safety net - despite its cost - was a good investment as a morale booster, apart from the lives saved. Despite the net, there was a major accident later which caused the net to fall and cost several lives. Overall, the safety record was still better than might have been expected at the time.
