A Rube Goldberg machine built in Minecraft. Save file available here: www.mediafire.com This uses World 5. Because I've been asked this several times, if you want the machine to run correct you must manually reset three water switches and one lava switch before turning it on. The 2011 Purdue University Rube Goldberg machine shattered the world record for most steps ever successfully completed by such a machine. In 244 steps the "Time Machine" traces the history of the world from Big Bang to the Apocalypse before accomplishing the assigned everyday task of watering a flower. Here are some answers to questions people keep asking me: - the ringing ball comes out of the red flipping box. - the painting tilts, which causes the top ball to run down it. - a keen eye will notice the egg unravels out of its foil wrapping. - at around 1:52, the balls are rolling behind a sheet of glass that is at a slight angle so that the balls have to revolve a lot just to move a small amount. - it took about 6 months to make and 3 days / 200 takes to film. Much credit must be give to the amazing Pitagora Suicchi ones for all their original ideas!

A friend and I decided to spend a night at my workplace assembling a contraption using supplies from the supply room and my basement. We started at 11p.m. on 6/26/05, and finished around 5:30a.m. This is take eight. Six of the eight worked. UPDATE: Thank you for all the views, everyone! A few quick answers: -Haha, I didn't get fired, this was done during non-business hours. -The heavy breathing is me starting to laugh and trying my hardest to stifle it...I was one second away from busting out the whole time.

Sorry to dissapoint, it's just an air tank. Fire extinguishers were EVERYWHERE just in case. I'll show more in the setup videos, which are uploading now. The sequence of events is as follows: Remote Control Vacuum cleaner is turned on Fire tornado increases vorticity, thus raises in height Cannon fuse is lit by fire tornado Fuze breaks link holding up hammer Hammer falls, pulling string String pull trigger on Rifle Rifle fires bullet across table and strikes matches Matches light and ignite another fuze Fuze lights gunpowder transfer tray Gunpowder lights rocket Rocket lights gasoline Gasoline ignites 2 rockets and 2 Roman Candles Rockets ignite Bonfire and fireworks A buddy of mine from Canada did the music. He's pretty sharp with the tunes and can crank out customized songs pretty quickly. Simple Rube Goldberg Machine III
Now don't tell me this is not simple, I know it is. It turns on both a music box and a Nintendo DS. I did not do the whole showing what the machine looks like before, so tell me which way is better. Sorry for the terrible lighting, it's the best I've got at night. This machine was supposed to be much longer but we are moving in a week so I had to clean up so we can get to packing. Steps: 1) I put a marble into a wooden marble game and it hits a train track standing upright. 2)The train track knocks a marble into a wooden thing that ejects the marble from the side. That marble hits another train track and knocks another marble in. 3) The marble rolls down a Scrabble board and barely manages to knock down some dominoes. 4) The dominoes hit a train track bridge and a marble starts rolling down. Eventually the balance is put completely off and the marble falls into another wooden marble game. 5) The marble hits more dominoes and the dominoes in turn hit another marble. 6) The marble rolls down and bounces onto a toy car. 7) The toy car rolls down and knocks down some upright train track pieces which hit another toy car. 8) The car slides down a wooden slide and flies off to hit a racing type toy for toddlers. 9) The shock makes another car go down the toy and hit more upright train track pieces. 10) One block has a string on it tied to a music box and as it falls it pulls out the drawer to make the music play. The drawer knocks down dominoes and various N64 cases and games ...

This is a Animated Contraption video I made. Also please visit my website at jeffreybrown.weebly.com and enjoy over 6000 games for free! Encase anyone didn't know, I tried to animate this on a very slow laptop, and that it why it may not look real. This was when I first started animation using Blender, and now I moved on to Autodesk Maya. I also upgraded from a laptop with 1GB ram and 1Ghz to a Desktop with 3.2Ghz and 10GB Ram. I haven't had any time lately because of school, but I do plan to update this video and make it look more real. The laptop was barely even fast enough to do one scene at a time while my pc can do all at one time.
