Wisconsin Shipwrecks: The Rouse Simmons
On November 23, 1912, the Rouse Simmons, also known as "The Christmas Tree Ship", a schooner hauling trees for the Chicago Christmas tree market, was lost with all hands while under sail in a storm north of Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The shipwreck lies upright in 165 ft. at the bottom of Lake Michigan.

Jasalpí (Banyoles) 28 Diciembre 1991 www.myspace.com A finales de los 80 las influencias de las bandas de hc melódico, unidas a las ganas de cambiar ligeramente el estilo de música, llevaron a los miembros de HHH a componer nuevos temas más ralentizados y cuidando más el trabajo de voces y coros. Con esta idea nacía ROUSE, un nuevo proyecto paralelo. La verdad es que estos objetivos iniciales sólo se cumplieron a medias. En general cuando cada uno de nosotros creaba un tema, éste solía ser más lento que cuando se trataba de canciones de HHH pero a la hora de ponernos a ensayar y, sobre todo, al entrar a grabarlos en estudio, el espíritu o la esencia de HHH hacía siempre su aparición de forma inevitable y las canciones acabaron siendo mucho más aceleradas que cuando fueron concebidas. Lo que sí se mantuvo intacto fue el trabajo vocal, buscando melodías y coros, un aspecto del que nunca nos habíamos preocupado demasiado en las demás formaciones. En su corta vida, el grupo dio de sí dos grabaciones. La primera tuvo lugar en agosto del 91, aprovechando las sesiones del "Homo Homini Lupus". Los 16 temas se grabaron y mezclaron en un tiempo récord, un par de días. Lo hicimos como siempre, tocando en directo los tres y pudimos utilizar las primeras tomas en casi todos los temas. Supongo que las sesiones previas de HHH nos habían puesto en un buen estado de forma e inspiración. El sonido de aquellas canciones estaba muy influenciado por bandas míticas de los 80. Johnny Cash - "Orange Blossom Special"
The fiddle tune "Orange Blossom Special", about the passenger train of the same name, was written by Ervin T. Rouse (1917-1981) in 1938. The original recording was created by Ervin and Gordon Rouse in 1939. It is considered the best known fiddle tune of the twentieth century and is often called simply The Special. It has been referred to as "the fiddle player's national anthem". It happened during the maiden run of the new streamlined train at the Jacksonville Seaboard Railroad Station that Ervin T. Rouse and Robert Russell "Chubby" Wise saw this train. Rouse and Wise wrote the song as a fiddle tune. It has been called the best known fiddle tune of the twentieth century. The tune was first recorded by Ervin and his brother Gordon one year later in New York. Bill Monroe recorded Rouse and Wise's tune in 1942 (with Art Wooten on fiddle) and popularized the tune. Johnny Cash named his 1965 album after the song. The song was also recorded by Bill Ramsey and Don Paulin. The Orange Blossom Special was a deluxe passenger train operated primarily by the Seaboard Air Line Railroad between New York City and Miami in the United States. The train was handled by the Pennsylvania Railroad from New York City to Washington, DC, the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad from Washington to Richmond, and the Seaboard Air Line Railroad from Richmond via Raleigh, Columbia, Savannah and Jacksonville to Miami.
