Cotton Rosser interview by Gail Woerner for theRodeo Historical Society Oral History Project. Interview recorded on October 20, 2006, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Recipient of the Ben Johnson Memorial Award in 2006, Cotton Rosser studied animal science at California Polytechnic and competed on the rodeo team. In 1950, he won the intercollegiate all-around and the saddle bronc championships. His rodeo career was cut short when he suffered a debilitating ranch accident. Rosser partnered with Dick Pascoe to purchase the Flying U Rodeo Company in 1955, the first stock contracting company to offer a comprehensive rodeo package that included promotional consultants, contract acts and noteworthy bucking stock. Always a showman, Rosser has been honored as the "Most Colorful Man In Rodeo" by the PRCA, named Stock Contractor of the Year and inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame. This hour-long interview was conducted at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. The hour-long interview is available for viewing at the Donald C. & Elizabeth M. Russ Rosser, One Man Band - Early 90's video
Unique one-man band using original musical inventions and modifications. Live, and without any pre-recording or pre-programming, four instruments are played at once: 1) a custom-built guitar (from a Nashville pawn shop); 2) a one-of-a-kind interface from guitar to keyboard (*not* MIDI), 3) bass guitar by means of an original foot pedals; and 4) a pair of custom-modified drum machines with a unique footswitch array. Note the playing technique on the slide guitar riff in "One Way Out," which makes the hands appear to be playing something else altogether. The left-hand fingers appear not to move because the note bending is done with right-hand pinky on the whammy bar instead of left-hand fretting or string stretching. Moreover, the right hand is seen strumming all the strings rather than plucking the notes you hear, because the left-hand fingers are muting all the strings except the two being played alternately. Unfortunately, this performing career has been curtailed indefinitely by a recent hand injury with a power saw! More at russrosser.com

In recent years, donors have invested substantial resources in research aimed at elucidating the role of political economy (PE) factors in shaping development outcomes. But they have made relatively little progress in translating the findings of this research into program design and implementation. In this presentation, Rosser evaluates recent proposals for operationalising PE analysis made by Fritz, Kaiser and Levy of the World Bank. The presentation was delivered as part of the Indo-Pacific Governance Research Centre's Lecture Series at the University of Adelaide on 14 October 2011.

Rosser Road Bridge Demolition
This is a video of a portion of the Rosser Road Demolition - Phase 1 that occurred October 1 -2 at LBJ and Rosser Road. Unlike the all concrete bridges that were demolished previously, this bridge has steel beams which require the decking to be broken up and each steel beam must be weld cut and removed one by one. The concrete and steel is then recycled for use on this and other projects around the DFW Metroplex.

Westbound I-635: 8 pm Saturday, February 18 8 pm through midnight (estimated) LBJ will be reduced to only one lane between Welch Rd. and Joe Ratcliff Walkway. Marsh Ln. westbound entrance ramp and Webb Chapell westbound exit ramp will also be closed. This is phase 1 of 3 required for work on Joe Ratcliff Walkway pedestrian bridge and the Rosser Rd. bridge that will happen Saturday night. All travel lanes will re-open at noon on Sunday February 19.
