There have been violent scenes in the Romanian capital Bucharest between police and protestors demonstrating over health service cuts. Nine people were injured, as officers used tear gas while some in the crowd threw petrol bombs. Thousands have been taking to the streets across the country, angry at more government austerity measures needed to get new financial help from the International Monetary Fund. Emil Boc, Romania's prime minister, has resigned after weeks of nationwide protests against a slew of austerity measures and months before a parliamentary election. Boc enforced the cuts, including slashing public salaries by a quarter and raising sales tax, to complete a $26.24bn International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout deal and boost the economy after a deep and bitter recession. 'We want him out': Anger burning in Romania

Romania is in the grip of its worst protests in over a decade. For the second week running, amid outbreaks of violence, demonstrators have taken a stand against a government they say has brought in low wages, cuts and rising corruption. At least 7000 people took to the streets of Bucharest on Thursday to demand the resignation of the country's government and its president, Traian Basescu. The protests that have been raging since last Sunday have already left at least 60 people injured. On Thursday alone, about 100 people were questioned by the police on suspicion of throwing stones and using iron fences to attack police lines. Poiana Braşov has a temperate-continental climate. The average temperature in summer is 20 °C and in winter -4 °C.
