Soviet/ USSR Anthem in English [by Paul Robeson]
Soviet/ USSR Anthem in English, with Soviet Videos (recorded from Victory Parade of 1945). By Paul Robeson. English lyrics of this version United forever in friendship and labour, Our mighty republics will ever endure. The great Soviet Union will live through the ages. The dream of a people their fortress secure. CHORUS: Long live our Soviet Motherland, built by the people's mighty hand. Long live our People, united and free. Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire, Shining in glory for all men to see. Through days dark and stormy where Great Lenin led us Our eyes saw the bright sun of freedom above and Stalin our Leader with faith in the People, Inspired us to build up the land that we love. CHORUS: Long live our Soviet Motherland, built by the people's mighty hand. Long live our People, united and free. Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire, Shining in glory for all men to see. We fought for the future, destroyed the invader, and brought to our homeland the Laurels of Fame. Our glory will live in the memory of nations and all generations will honour her name. CHORUS: Long live our Soviet Motherland, built by the people's mighty hand. Long live our People, united and free. Strong in our friendship tried by fire. Long may our crimson flag inspire, Shining in glory for all men to see. PLEASE SEE ALSO!!! Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child-Paul Robeson
There's so much to be said about Mr. Robeson. He was an athlete, attorney, incredible singer, movie star and much more. His father was born in slavery but escaped to the north via the underground railroad, at age 15! Our country took much of his pride away when they confiscated his passport in 1950, stating that to retrieve it he would have to admit to being a Communist. He refused.DISCLAIMER: All rights reserved to the production companies and music labels that distributed and produced the music and performance respectively. "The House I Live In" (Paul Robeson)
The original lyrics to this powerful song...Bass Paul Robeson at his best. THE HOUSE I LIVE IN (1947) What is America to me? A name, a map or a flag I see, A certain word, "Democracy", What is America to me? The house I live in, The friends that I have found, The folks beyond the railroad and the people all around, The worker and the farmer, the sailor on the sea, The men who built this country, that's America to me. The words of old Abe Lincoln, of Jefferson and Paine, of Washington and Jackson and the tasks that still remain. The little bridge at Concord, where Freedom's Fight began, of Gettysburg and Midway and the story of Bataan. The house I live in, my neighbors White and Black, the people who just came here or from generations back, the town hall and the soapbox, the torch of Liberty, a home for all God's children, that's America to me. The house I live in, the goodness everywhere, a land of wealth and beauty with enough for all to share. A house that we call "Freedom", the home of Liberty, but especially the people, that's America to me. But especially the people--that's the true America...

Paul Robeson - Old Man River
The words of Old Man River were (thankfully) to change many times since the original version was written by Hammerstein and Kerr. The first line "Niggers all work on the Mississippi etc" moved on to "Darkies all work..." and eventually through being "The old Man I'd like to be" it eventually became "The Old Man I don't like to be". Sidney Poitier explains other changes within the song.
The peat bog soldiers - Moorsoldaten

Paul Robeson Students call for May 1st HS Student WALKOUT
Join us on May 1st as we stand in solidarity with the Occupy movement and workers everywhere. FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE: www.facebook.com Dear New York City, We, the students of public education, are here to inform you about the injustice that is taking place in our school system: The privatization of our school system The budget cuts Lack of appropriate leadership Malicious closings/phasing out of schools against the communities' wishes. Cell phone policies Overcrowded classes & abuse of SAFE rooms Over policing of our schools and the criminalization of our youth We feel that these issues are setting our students up for failure, and we DEMAND a change! We believe that trying to control our schools is just another symptom of the blatant racism in our country similar to the government's response to the senseless killing of Trayvon Martin. Because of this, our first action will be a mass student walkout on May 1st at 12pm to Fort Greene Park. We will be holding teach-ins, teen summits & other peaceful events. Please add your name to our letter and support us in our struggle for our education. Signed, Student Leadership Paul Robeson HS
Paul Robeson - Mah Lindy Lou (1933)
Paul LeRoy Bustill Robeson (April 9,1898 - Jan,23,1976) was a multi-lingual American actor, athlete, Basso cantante concert singer, writer, civil rights activist, fellow traveler, Spingarn Medal winner, and Stalin Peace Prize laureate. Robeson found fame as an actor and singing star with his fine bass voice. He was one of the few true basses in American music, with his beautiful and powerful voice descending as low as C below the bass clef. In addition to his stage performances, his renditions of old spirituals were acclaimed; Robeson was the first to bring them to the concert stage. Paul Robeson with Uta Hagen in the Theatre Guild production of Othello. His first roles were in 1922 playing Simon in Simon the Cyrenian at the Harlem YMCA and Jim in Taboo at the Sam Harris Theater in Harlem. Taboo was later re-named Vodoo. He was acclaimed for his 1924 performance in the title role of Eugene O'Neill's The Emperor Jones - originally performed, also with great success, by Charles Gilpin in 1920. He was also noted in his early career for his performance in All God's Chillun Got Wings in which he portrayed the black husband of an abusive white woman who, resenting her husband's skin color, destroys his promising career as a lawyer. His earliest surviving film is 1924's Body and Soul. Next he played Crown in the stage version of DuBose Heyward's novel Porgy, which provided the basis for George and Ira Gershwin's opera Porgy and Bess. Then, in 1930, he starred in the title role ...

Paul Robeson & LSD: MKULTRA : Part 1
In the morning of March 27, 1961, Paul Robeson was found in the bathroom of his Moscow hotel suite after having slashed his wrists with a razor blade following a wild party that had raged there the preceding night. His blood loss was not yet severe, and he recovered rapidly. However, both the raucous party and his suicide attempt remain unexplained, and for the past twenty years the US government has withheld documents that hold the answer to the question: Was this a drug induced suicide attempt? Black Army soldier James Thornwell was drugged by an US Army Intelligence in France in 1961, two months after Paul Robeson was also unwittingly drugged in Moscow in 1961. Two Months after Paul Robeson died of natural causes in January 1976 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, James Thornwell was contacted by the Surgeon General's Office in California as a follow up of his 1961 LSD drugging by Army Intelligence. James Thornwell was unaware that he was drugged in 1961. In 1961 Army Intelligence was also tracking Paul Robeson and I suspect these two men were drugged in parallel, with James Thornwell as a control victim to see how the LSD drugging was affecting Paul Robeson (the intended target). Los Angeles Police Officers tell me that the timing of these two related unwitting LSD druggings are suspect. Did the United States Army coordinate the simultaneous of these two men in Europe in 1961?
