Reseda Centennial 1912 - 2012 Reseda, one of the original valley suburbs, will be celebrating its 100th year throughout 2012, planning and participating in events and revelries culminating in a gala outdoor music festival in September. Reseda, the hub of the valley, was an original Red Car stop on the Pacific Electric line, and is host to the Los Angeles River, ground-zero of the Northridge Earthquake, and the home of the Karate Kid. Reseda was once the heart of a diverse and vibrant music scene, with acts such as U2, Tom Petty, James Brown, No Doubt, Zoogz Rift, Los Lobos, Lucinda Williams, and Jane's Addiction performing at such locations as The Country Club and BeBop Records. The Reseda Centennial Music Festival seeks to recreate the heyday of the Reseda music scene as well as celebrate the diversity of its community with a wide variety of cultural performers. In June of 2010 I was asked to help evaluate and uncover a rather unique group of classic cars; one of which had be sitting since just after World War 2. In fact there was an original WW2 Navy uniform still sitting in the back seat. More rare cars came of hiding that fortuitous day. I was lucky enough to recover and bring home a few of these time-forgotten relics.

Police fatally shoot suspected gunman in Reseda slaying [September 24, 2011] Los Angeles police officers fatally shot a man Saturday after he allegedly shot another individual to death in a residential area of Reseda just north of Reseda High School, authorities said. Multiple officers were involved in the shooting, which occurred about 4.40 pm, shortly after they responded to a report of shots fired in the 6600 block of Etiwanda Avenue, according to law enforcement authorities familiar with the investigation. "After they discovered the victim, who was dead at the scene, they set up a perimeter," said Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Cleon Joseph. "They saw the suspect. Places I remember in Reseda California. The Reseda Country Club, The Reseda Theater and some of the places where Boogie Nights was filmed. I also show two of the schools in Reseda that I attended. Grover Cleveland High School and Melvin Ave Elementary School.
CSUN Protest - Nordhoff & Reseda
Hundreds of, if not at least a thousand, CSUN students protest against the rising budget cuts on public education by storming the Nordhoff and Reseda intersection where they effectively obstructed traffic. Many honked in support, though of course, obstructing traffic does lead to at least one person wanting to run us over (like in the video) and the LAPD cars and a helicopter showing up on the scene. [EDIT] Ultimately, the primary success about this protest is raising awareness to be a bit more politically active at the very least. People online sure are responding to these videos when the footage is no longer on TV, for instance. It's kinda sad when people don't think their voices matter in a democratic-republic.
