A Brief Introduction to How the Primesense Camera will Revolutionize Virtual Rehabilitation
This intro video discusses the use of the Primesense "depth-sensing" camera for creating applications for motor rehabilitation. Following a stroke, brain injury or other form of neurological disorder, a person can naturally interact with game content as part of their physical therapy. The vision is that patients will be more motivated to do therapy when it is embedded in a game context. This camera (which has been licensed by Microsoft for the Xbox Kinect) can capture users' natural full body movement in 3D space for interaction within game activities without using markers, LEDs or wires. We believe that such low cost sensing systems for tracking human movement will revolutionize how motor rehabilitation will be done in the future. The system does not require the user to hold an encumbering interface device or move on a pad as the source of interaction within the game. Instead, the users body is the game controller operating in 3D space and multiple users can be tracked in this fashion for both cooperative and competitive interactive activities. Our group at the University of Southern California Institute for Creative Technologies (Mixed Reality Lab and the Motor Rehabilitation Lab) is currently testing this camera system and building software around its functionality to promote the creation of home-based rehabilitation and exergame applications. And, we have thus far integrated the Primesense movement tracking system with custom-built rehab games and associated software ...

Ulnar Collateral Ligament Tear Rehabilitation
I was subjected to an Ulnar Collateral Ligament Tear while performing a reversal (from guard) in Jiu Jitsu. The physician told me that I would need surgery, but I am attempting to enhance my musculature within and around the wrist joint so much in the wrist that I can stabilize the ulna without surgery. I have done this with both Acromioclavicular joints, thus believe I can do the same for my wrist. This will be a test run covering several months and I will be posting my grip-strength levels, Range-of-Motion (ROM) and wrist circumference and ulnar height every couple of weeks.

Ontario SPCA Remarkable Rehabilitation Program: Lucky dog
Lucky, a seven month old lab-cross, was surrendered to the Ontario SPCA on November 19, 2007. Lucky was diagnosed with three cervical (neck) fractures and spinal trauma. He was also malnourished, dehydrated and suffered from bed sores. An animal cruelty investigation is ongoing and charges are currently pending against a Scarborough resident. Lucky's initial prognosis was very guarded and he was sent to Guelph University for immediate, specialized care. He was placed in a half-body cast to promote healing, reduce swelling and to prevent further injury. Lucky's progress was slow, but his survivor's spirit assured veterinarians and the Ontario SPCA's staff that he was committed to his recovery. Lucky was transferred to the 404 Veterinary Hospital for specialized rehabilitation. Under their care, Lucky's recovery excelled. Lucky has benefited from a multi-faceted physiotherapy program, including specialized exercises and hydrotherapy. Shoulder Rehabilitation Exercises | Part 3 | Shoulder Surgery Rehab Examples | Colorado
(drmillett.com) Dr. Peter J. Millett is a Vail, Colorado orthopedic shoulder surgeon in private practice with the Steadman Clinic. He is an expert in shoulder surgery and provides a series of video through his You Tube channel on shoulder rehabilitation. This particular video demonstrates initial shoulder post operative exercises. The successful outcome of any shoulder surgery is as much dependent on the surgery itself as it is on the rehab protocol. The postoperative rehabilitation begins with close communication between the surgeon, his medical staff and the physical therapy team to discuss the patient's medical history, review surgical findings and procedures, and establish the rehabilitation guidelines. This communication continues throughout the recovery process and is an essential component in ensuring a successful outcome. Vestibular Rehabilitation Exercises for Dizziness/Balance
These are exercises people can do for issues with dizziness and or imbalance. These are very effective for people who have gotten the two issues above from things like Valley Fever, etc. that have attacked the nervous system and cortex of the brain. This can not only help to relieve and take away dizziness, but help significantly improve balance and coordination, tracking with your eyes, etc. I am back doing these therapies again but before I had been doing them at a hospital and they helped me to get out of a wheelchair after significant medical issues attacked the nervous system. The cortex of my brain is being multed right now so I have to work on it and literally re-fire the nerves... its nice the body can actually do that with therapy. There is more therapies that include electrodes and things like HBOT, but this therapy is very great. I will add annotations during the video soon so you know what and how I am doing the different maneuvers. Kris

How to strengthen your knees and treat knee pain
www.tridoshawellness.com Natural Fitness and Holistic Medicine info Manu Kalia Physical Therapist, Clinical Ayurveda Herbalist and Exercise Science Specialist Formulator of TriSport Herbal Formulas "your natural wellness and fitness solution" "I would love to hear from you. Leave a comment, question or just stop by to say Hi" To get regular channel updates, subscribe by clicking below: www.youtube.com Hey everyone, so here's a video on knee strengthening exercises in non-weight bearing. I am a firm believer in letting the body do its job and giving it the right environment to heal. I find most of the time people don't listen to their body or let it do it's job. It will heal itself, you just have to let it. So I firmly believe that it is important to start with non-weight bearing exercises when recovering from a knee injury or surgery. The knee is a weight bearing joint and it doesn't like to be loaded or compressed when injured. So I tell my patient to first focus on strength and flexibility exercises in sitting or laying down. Once the joint can tolerate more standing and walking, swelling is down, strength is better, they can start exercises in standing. I am going to go over some basic yet powerful knee strengthening exercises in this video. I am focusing on strengthening above and below the joint. Main focus is on quadriceps, hamstrings and glutes. Strength Exercises: Strengthen Quadriceps by quad squeeze, knee extensions and quad leg lifts. Strengthen Hamstrings by ...

The plan also involves renovating the interiors to allow faster flow of travelers between security, immigration and departure. The first step has been done.
