The Red Digital Cinema Camera Company manufactures digital cinematography cameras and accessories for professional and cinematic use. The company was created and financed by Oakley founder Jim Jannard with the publicly expressed intent to re-invent the camera industry. Director Steven Soderbergh shot both parts of the movie Che, The Argentine and Guerrilla entirely with the Red One camera. Soderbergh is very enthusiastic about the camera, stating that "this is the camera I've been waiting for my whole career: jaw-dropping imagery recorded onboard a camera light enough to hold with one hand. Afghanistan Filmed in RED ONE 4K High Definition Footage
Footage I shot of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan on the RED ONE Digital Cinema Camera. I edited this piece together (starting with some footage from my previous Afghanistan clips) as a demo to show the capabilities of this new technology, and how it can bring quality, scalability, and longevity back to combat zone footage unseen since WWII/Viet Nam era. The actual resolution of the footage is 4096x2048: img517.imageshack.us and there's a full 4K clip available here: youtu.be I only had 5 days with the camera in country, the footage has not been color corrected (I think it's best to see the footage before being "treated"). This video was edited off the proxies on a Mac Pro. It is my hope that the DoD shows interest in assembling a specially trained team of service-members to film on this new equipment and provide footage to disseminate back to the public at a quality this generation deserves, both home and abroad. Jason Wingrove of FXGuide recently interviewed me regarding this footage and my thoughts on advancing this quality for Combat Zone acquisition. Kontakt teaser (Science fiction shortfilm shot with Red One)
I made this teaser for my new shortfilm "Kontakt" ("Contact"). It was my graduation-work at NordlandCollege of Art and Film :) I have always dreamed of making a science-fiction movie, so this was a dream come true :) I wrote the script, directed the movie, edited it, made the music (not for this teaser though), I was the sound-designer and made the effects :) I had a premiere in Lofoten that went really well! I got a lot of good feedback. Lately, I have sent the film to different shortfilm-festivals. The film was shot with the Red One camera. It was a bit strange for me to have another person to operate the camera, since I have always done that myself. It worked very well however. I had more time to talk with the actors, instead of using to much time on finding the frame etc. :) I hope you enjoy the teaser! :)

Red Epic - Stockholm Test
Testing the Red Epic-M in Stockholm. These tests were mainly focusing on the HDRx feature with footage that traditionally were next to impossible to capture with any format. The HDRx results in an image with all the information in both highlights and shadows. Recommended settings are HDRx with 3 stops, but for these we used 6 stops and 4 stops based on the situation. The image looks washed out, but remember that it's a pregrade image, not the final image. To show a more final image we did a light grade that can be seen in the end. We also tested the slow motion capabilites and cropping the 5K image to 1920x1080. Some info about each shot can be viewed in the beginning of most of them. Paus to view the information. These tests were done by Andres Rignell, Christoffer Glans and Olle Lundin. Special thanks to Daniel Thisell and Ljud & Bildmedia who let us test with their camera. About us - Andres Rignell: FSF works as a cinematographer for both feature films, television series, commercials and music videos. He was among the first in Sweden to shoot on the Red One. - Christoffer Glans works as an editor, one-man postproduction business, generell filmmaker and trailerproducer for TV4. He was among the first to edit a feature film shot on Red One with the Avid Media Composer. Olle Lundin works as lightning designer and cinematographer in Sweden.
