Trinitarian reasoning is dangerous!(5 proofs)

2 Tim. 4:3-4:the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths 2 Corinthians 10:5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. I DO NOT believe the trinitarian reasoning I use in this video to establish some scary ideas.I'm simply using their OWN reasoning to demonstrate what the result would be were they consistent. If these 5 arguments are so easily refutable, perhaps it would be worth your while to investigate every one of them meticulously so as to make sure you haven't been misled. The "hypostatic union"(which is sadly, for trinitarians, nothing but a bold & empty inference) is read INTO every text and it's basis is every bit as tragically gathered from a misuse of a literal few texts as the Jehovah's Witnesses' establishment of 1914 and their separation of Christians is!If Christians are so willing to use these types of arguments even after being biblically reasoned with, then how can you trust anything they say?If trinitarians can't even be honest about simple reasoning points then there's not much that can be said.I will plant seeds that hopefully might make the conscientious reconsider what they've been fed regardless.God bless everyone.:) For reasoning ...

The Problem with Religion

It really is terribly simple, 1) models with predictive capability are of utility. 2) Science is in a class of its own, a process without competitors, when it comes to its ability to form such models. So where is the problem? These are observations that not only essentially everyone agrees with, but practically EVERYONE eagerly embraces, most notably in tasting the sweet fruits of science, such as modern civilization. However religion, a model with no demonstrable predictive utility, remains prevalent within mankind. The bizarre thing is that all these people who engage in religion must realize what a good model looks like as they use them everyday of their life. Convergent models with predictive capability are the good one... the ones they chose to use. Yet still, peculiarly, these folks still embrace religion which is evidently divergent with no demonstrable predictive utility.

Taxes are NOT the problem...

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child

Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord,.... He knew that Jehovah, the God of Israel, was the true God; he had spiritual knowledge of him, and knew somewhat of his word and worship, ways and ordinances, in which he had been instructed by Eli; wherefore, though the Targum is,"Samuel had not yet learned to know doctrine from the Lord;''it can only be understood, that he had not learnt it perfectly; somewhat he knew of it, but in an imperfect manner, being a child: but the sense of the word is, that as yet he was ignorant that God had used to speak with ordinary and familiar voice to men, as Maimonides says (s); he perhaps had never heard of any such thing, and much less was experimentally acquainted with it, that God ever did speak after such a manner to men, and could not distinguish between the voice of God and the voice of Eli:

Rethink Afghanistan War (Part 4): Civilian Casualties

Digg this video: digg.com When foreign policy is well-reasoned, we see attention given to humanitarian issues like housing, jobs, health care and education. When that policy consists of applying a military solution to a political problem, however, we see death, destruction, and suffering. Director Robert Greenwald witnessed the latter during his recent trip to Afghanistan--the devastating consequences of US airstrikes on thousands of innocent civilians. The footage you are about to see is poignant, heart-wrenching, and often a direct result of US foreign policy. We must help the refugees whose lives have been shattered by US foreign policy and military attacks. Support the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan, an organization dedicated to helping women and children, human rights issues, and social justice. Then, become a Peacemaker. The Dark Knight - Some Men Just Want To Watch The World Burn

One, out of many, great lines from The Dark Knight. Alfred Pennyworth: [...] with respect Master Wayne, perhaps this is a man you don't fully understand either. A long time ago, I was in Burma, my friends and I were working for the local government. They were trying to buy the loyalty of the tribal leaders by bribing them with precious stones. But their caravans were being raided in a forest north of Rangoon by a bandit. So we went looking for the stones. But in six months, we never met anyone who traded with him. ...One day I saw a child playing with a ruby the size of a tangerine. The bandit had been throwing them away. Bruce Wayne: So why steal them? Alfred Pennyworth: Because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn. Note: In the movie The Man Who Would Be King (1975) Caine stars alongside Sean Connery and in a scene where they are surrounded by jewels. Connery picks up a ruby and says something to the effect of it being as big as an orange. Caine then picks one up the size of a tangerine and says NOW THAT'S A RUBY. Nolan (probably) used that as the reference for this scene.

Always Be Ready | Week 1 (Mark Kielar)

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: " (1Pe 3:15) As Christians, one of the things we are required to do is "always be ready to give an answer for the hope that lies within you." Sadly, many Christians when asked to give a reasoned answer believe that an answer alone will suffice. This results in "Jesus is risen from the dead" being just as justifiable as "Dumbo the Elephant lives in my attic" if one does not have to give a reasoned answer for what they believe. This sermon, the first in a series, by Mark Kielar encourages believers to always be ready to give a reasoned answer not just a rote reply when asked about the hope that lies within us. Pastor Mark pastors at First Baptist of Boynton Beach. My sincere thanks goes to Pastor Keith Baker there for helping make these sermons available for me to post here and share with others. Showbiz Central: Marian Rivera Scandal "SINUNGALING"

Showbiz Central: Marian Rivera Interview May 25, 2008

Love Your Heckler

Labor Day weekend 2009 was over the top! A friend of mine and I preached open air at the Pismo Beach Pier on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. We arrived on Saturday at around 2PM. It was a glorious time serving along side my brother in Christ. While he preached, I prayed, passed out tracts, and served as a single-man "rent a crowd." Brother Robert had an appointment at 4PM, so after that, I was on my own. I reasoned within myself, 'better leave now, you shouldnt continue by yourself.' But at the same time I questioned my motive for wanting to leave. What was it? I was thinking of my own safety. My self-centered-reasoning was not based on loving GOD lifting up the Name that is above every name. My motive for wanting to leave was not based on loving man. I was more concerned for my own wellbeing instead of thinking of what was best for those who are lost, dying, under the wrath of God, and who desperately need be saved and enjoy peace with God. I understand that God can save people without me He is in need of no help! But at the same time, I also understand this, "brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. How to Purify Sulfuric Acid

A short tutorial on purifying the dark, industrial-grade sulfuric acid available at hardware stores like OSH and Lowes. The chemistry: After a little thinking, I concluded a likely source of contamination to be the carbon-based lubricants used for the machinery during the production process. Due to sulfuric acid's strong affinity for water, I reasoned that the acid stripped the lubricant of its hydrogen and oxygen components (akin to the way it dehydrates sugar), leaving the carbon suspended in the acid. At this point, the job of removing the impurities became much easier: I simply needed to find a way to remove the carbon from the acid. I quickly found that the only viable method was to oxidize the carbon to carbon dioxide, which could be easily liberated from the acid via heating. I reasoned that heating would also serve to remove excess water from the acid, concentrating it to its azeotropic concentration. I thus discovered the process for purifying dark, storebought sulfuric acid into a clean and colorless product, suitable for nearly all chemical applications. The video illustrates the process in a concise and straight-forward manner. Enjoy.

"Listen to a partisan, and you might believe that ideology is the result of reasoned analysis of social life. Listen to the evidence, and you might be convinced that the partisans' reasons are the product of ideology, rather than the cause of it. In Defence Of Disrespect.

A cult is a cult no matter its size. Child molestation, protected priests, brainwashing, thought control, indoctrination, the installation of irrational fear, shame and guilt, homicidal misinformation regarding issues of health; it's ALL there. And I don't respect it. Fuck it. At almost any cost short of violence or the threat of violence. Fuck it, to people or property. CERTAINLY at the expense of a clip taken in a building showing a few anonymous faces none of us will ever see again. The ONLY people fit to judge if "The 4" were being smug, bratty, arrogant, intrusive, disruptive, rude, etc, were the people IN the church AT the time! And THEY noticed NOTHING. THEY asked Nyk to take the collection plate around, AND HE DID IT! Some of the reasoning I have heard for the outrage around this is pathetic and hypocritical. So, to be clear... If you strongly objected to their video on grounds of privacy, and you have EVER shown or ever will show ONE face without its owner's permission, you're a hypocrite. If you strongly objected to their video on grounds of causing offence, and you have EVER insulted/mocked a believer, you're a hypocrite. Even if you use rationality alone to try to reason with a believer, that CAN hurt and offend their feelings too, and you're a hypocrite. But, luckily there is a way to stop being a hypocrite, and that's to STOP BEING A HYPOCRITE. We need blasphemy. We need disrespect. We need to cause outrage. How did we get noticed in the first place? You ...

Teach Critical Thinking

Most of my youtube viewers seem to describe themselves somewhere along the lines of free thinking, independent minded secular humanists. Most of them have gone significantly against the grain at least once in their lives. Reflecting on that, many are so pleased to have shaken free of at least one popular concept that they now see for what it really is, and what they could have become, that they encourage others to analyze the popular opinions they hold as well. So it should come as no surprise that when I speak to that audience about the future of education the most popular terminology they throw around the in the comment section is "critical thinking," and the most popular use of that term involves the proposed magic bullet of curriculum improvement, which of course is to "teach critical thinking." Mmm doesn't that just feel good to say? Doesn't it feel good to hear? Those three little words just slip off the tongue and dance upon the eardrums of the "free thinking" community. The small, yet fundamental questions that create difficulty with the whole notion are... what the hell is "critical thinking" and how the hell does one "teach it?" Landing on a solid definition for "critical thinking" can be a bit tricky. Here are some different ways that it's been defined according to some different authorities on the matter with references provided. "Reasonable reflective thinking focused on deciding what to believe or do" "Thinking about thinking" "The intellectually disciplined ...

Anti-Intellectualism in American Culture: The Pride of Ignorance

anti-intellectualism is not only tolerated but celebrated in parts of American society. Charles P. Pierce: The leaders of Idiot America are those people who abandoned their obligations to the above. There are lots of people making an awful lot of money selling their ideas and their wares to Idiot America. Idiot America is an act of collective will, a product of lassitude and sloth. Question: What is the difference between stupidity and glorifying ignorance? Charles P. Pierce: Stupidity is as stupidity does, to quote a uniquely stupid movie. It has been with us always and always will be. But we moved into an era in which stupidity was celebrated if it managed to sell itself well, if it succeeded, if it made people money. That is "glorifying ignorance." We moved into an era in which the reflexive instincts of the Gut were celebrated at the expense of reasoned, informed opinion. To this day, we have a political party—the Republicans—who, because it embraced a "movement of Conservatism" that celebrated anti-intellectualism is now incapable of conducting itself in any other way. That has profound political and cultural consequences, and the truly foul part about it was that so many people engaged in it knowing full well they were peddling poison. The Culture Wars Are Over and the Idiots Have WonA veteran journalist's acidically funny, righteously angry lament about the glorification of ignorance in the United States. In the midst of a career-long quest to separate the smart ...

Napalm Death - Armageddon X 7

From the album "Fear, Emptiness, Despair" (1994). Lyrics: Lest we forget scorched earth policies, of megaton and hydrogen, and taut muscle of an armory that flexes, to show the world we mean business! It's all smiles and handshakes, but who moves to disarm. We've cheapened time and evolution. To be violently erased is non - fiction. Those summits and peace treaties are just worthless words. It's all smiles and handshakes, but who moves to disarm. Radium, Uranium - one more isotope to add the collection. The age of outrage has been reasoned into submission. And cries for peace are no longer in fashion. I wonder if we'll see the point through cataracted eyes. Or draw breath from irradiated lungs, and sigh as we exit times seven.

Ransom Theory

" The Ransom Theory of the Atonement Forms of the ransom theory were widely held by various fathers of the church, beginning with Origen (c. 185--c. 254), who proposed that Christ's death was paid to Satan to purchase human beings, who were captive in sin, and set them free. Used as a basis is Mark 10:45, where Jesus said, "Even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Likewise, Paul reminded: "You were bought at a price" (1 Cor. 6:20). Origen wrote: "Now it was the devil that held us, to whose side we had been drawn away by our sins. He asked, therefore, as our price the blood of Christ" (CR, 2.13). Of course, Satan got the short end of the deal, for after demanding Christ's blood from the Father, his own doom was sealed by Christ's death and victorious resurrection. According to the ransom theory, Satan released humankind (for the payment made to him by Christ to the Father), only to discover that he could not hold Christ (who rose and thus defeated death). Gregory of Nyssa (c. 335--c. 395) explained the plot of redemption this way: The Deity [of Christ] was hidden under the veil of our nature, so that, as with ravenous fish, the hook of the Deity might be gulped down along with the bait of flesh. (C, 22) Because this idea seemed, to many Christians, to suggest a deceptive action on God's part, Gregory expanded the theory in an attempt to show how it maintained God's justice. He reasoned that since our bondage ...

Phil Plait, "Don't Be a Dick" (Part 2 of 3)

This speech by astronomer and atheist Dr. Phillip Cary Plait was given at the TAM8 Conference which took place from July 8-11, 2010. Phil Plait is the author of _Death from the Skies_ and is President of the James Randi Educational Foundation as well as creator of the online blog "Bad Astronomy," hosted by discovermagazine.com. He served for a decade on the Hubble Space Telescope. This video was obtained at this web address: vimeo.com The topic of the speech pertains to effectiveness of approach when involving oneself in the discussions related to "winning the hearts and minds" of the great majority of humanity to critical thinking, atheism, and science. It is an offer of constructive criticism and an examination of not only the counterproductive effects of employing needless insults and hostility as a methodology but also of the proper orientation one must take to the process of raising consciousness and both engendering and cultivating a society capable of scientific reasoning. The ironic note is that he mentions Skepchick Rebecca Watson having concurrently published writings on the same theme. Watson presently is embroiled in petty inflammatory exchanges over her personal experiences and is campaigning for a boycott against the pioneering atheist and accomplished biologist Richard Dawkins for simply not "getting it," as she wantonly declares. Instead of taking an educational approach to the matter to raise consciousness and advance both feminism and atheism, she has ...

Mobility vs Firepower by Nutnfancy, Part 1

PART 1 of 4: When it comes to your gear choices, whether were talking guns, knives, load bearing equipment, or backpacking gear, a wise user should have well-reasoned choices based on weight, size, ease of carry, capabilities needed, durability, and price for performance given. In this four part video series, Nutnfancy distills this decision making process into what is called MOBILITY VS FIREPOWER. Using the historical example of WW II tanks, both Allied and German, a case is made for both sides of the argument. The Tiger 1 tank could be considered a poster child for the FIREPOWER argument: heavily armed with its 88mm gun and thickly armored and in the hands of a competent tank commander, the Tiger 1 could and sometimes did rule the battlefield. However, like many firepower-weighted choices, it had some big disadvantages: unreliable at times, complex to fix and maintain, expensive to make, hampered by a very short range (37 miles!), slow speed, difficult to recover, and laborious to transport to the battlefield. Other German designs were equally as impressive and some, like the incredible StuG III assault gun (tank), actually mastered the MOBILITY concept quite well. However all this German expertise and propensity for superior tanks (usually FIREPOWER weighted) failed to make a decisive difference in the outcome of the war. Actually it was the humble American Sherman tank that came home with the gold. Except for perhaps the Sherman Firefly (a later version with 17 pdr ...

Acts 17 (with text - press on more info.)

Acts 17 (New International Version) Acts 17 In Thessalonica 1 When Paul and his companions had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue. 2 As was his custom, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, 3 explaining and proving that the Messiah had to suffer and rise from the dead. "This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Messiah," he said. 4 Some of the Jews were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a large number of God-fearing Greeks and quite a few prominent women. 5 But other Jews were jealous; so they rounded up some bad characters from the marketplace, formed a mob and started a riot in the city. They rushed to Jason's house in search of Paul and Silas in order to bring them out to the crowd.[a] 6 But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some other believers before the city officials, shouting: "These men who have caused trouble all over the world have now come here, 7 and Jason has welcomed them into his house. They are all defying Caesar's decrees, saying that there is another king, one called Jesus." 8 When they heard this, the crowd and the city officials were thrown into turmoil. 9 Then they made Jason and the others post bond and let them go. In Berea 10 As soon as it was night, the believers sent Paul and Silas away to Berea. On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue. 11 Now the Berean Jews were of more noble ...

(2/12) Battlefield I The Battle of Berlin Episode 12 (GDH)

The Battle of Berlin was a colossal battle that ended the war in Europe. The Western Allies, pushing from the West, and the USSR encircling Berlin from North and South doomed Nazi Germany. Controversy still remains in Eisenhowers decision not to take Berlin and leave the greatest trophy claimed in World War II to Stalins Soviet Union. Many in the American and British high commands, recommended to Eisenhower the taking of Berlin by Allied forces. Probably the only decision that Montgomery and Patton agreed on, was the taking of Berlin. Both reasoned it symbolized the destruction of Nazi German by the Allies. Of course both had their selfish dreams of glory in mind. Eisenhower had several reasons deciding against the capture of Berlin. No matter what nation captured Berlin, Berlin would become a four nation occupation zone. Planners had estimated the capture of Berlin would cost 100000 KIA Allied troops. Intelligence reports and Nazi propaganda indicated that several Waffen SS divisions were planning a national redoubt in the mountains of Austria. The latter proving to be utter nonsense. For these reasons, Eisenhower declined to capture Berlin. The Allies were amazed at Stalins seemly lack of interest in taking Berlin. In actuality it was his greatest dream to capture Berlin with USSR forces. The USSR attacked the German lines before Berlin with three massive Soviet Fronts (Army Groups). First Belorussia Front (Marshal Georgy Zhukov) was to attack the German Oder-Neisse ...

The Amazing Napoleon Hill - How To Think Rich

www.HypnoBusters.com This amazing footage shows the legend that is Napoleon Hill - light years ahead of his time. He interviewed, followed, and studied over 500 very successful and wealthy people, most notably billionaire Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and Theodore Roosevelt. Napoleon Hill found many similarities in the way these mega successful people think, and how they are different from the rest of us. The result was his highly influential book 'Think And Grow Rich'. He reasoned that negative emotions, such as fear and selfishness, had no part to play in his philosophy, and Hill considered them to be the source of failure for unsuccessful people. In order to make money you must think in the way of these successful people. You do not need to be mega intelligent to make lots of money, just need need to know how to think rich. Watch this amazing footage and share in some of his "Philosophy of Achievement", and perhaps you too can learn how to make money big!

[MIRROR] Thunderf00t vs. Eric Hovind - Commentary (Venaloid)

Venaloid's channel: www.youtube.com Original video: youtu.be As you may have already seen, Thunderf00t recently posted his debate with Eric Hovind at the Reason Rally. However, every time I watch one of his debates it just drives me up a wall. I respect Thunderf00t and he is certainly an intelligent guy, but he simply does not perform well in live debates. At any rate, over the past week I found Venaloid's channel, where he presents very well-reasoned and informative arguments against theism. Tonight I was pleased to see that he provided some commentary on the Thunderf00t v. Hovind debate and where it all went wrong. I thought this would be a great video to share with everyone in case you are not aware of his channel. Venaloid has a lot of great arguments and I particularly enjoy his editing and humor in this video. If you enjoy it as much as I do please visit his channel and show your support by subscribing! Note: I know it's been a while since I have updated my series. Unfortunately, I do not have much free time at the moment to produce videos. However, in the next few months I will get getting a break and won't have to work so much. I have a lot of great topics in the works so I hope everyone can be patient until then. :)

BERSIH 3.0: It WAS a peaceful rally. It WAS.

This is my beloved country. I LOVE MALAYSIA. I will always be there when the country needs me. They were meant to inspire good, justice, fairness etc. Not mess, madness and death. I believed They have inspired good, justice, fairness etc.. But they also spat in the faces of Malaysia's "criminals". The night is dark before the dawn. Some men aren't looking for something logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn. * if you know what I mean* We believed in what you stood for. What we stand for, and not a man who thinks he's above the law. Sometimes, truth isn't good enough, sometimes people deserve more, sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded. *Some of THE DARK KNIGHT movie quotes were included here*

Dr. Frances Cress Welsing Pt 1 of 2

For Welsing, the world's most pressing problem is the disturbing issue of white supremacy, or racism. "I put the discussion of melanin on the board in order to [describe how pigmentation] was a factor in what white supremacy behavior was all about," Welsing noted in an interview with Michael Eric Dyson for Emerge. "If I had my way, there wouldn't be all the discussion about melanin. I would say, Discuss white supremacy." Welsing laid the foundation for her ongoing discussion of white supremacy in her groundbreaking 1970 essay The Cress Theory of Color-Confrontation and Racism. In it, she reasoned that because whiteness is a color deficiency and white people make up only a small percentage of the earth's population, they tend to view people of color as a threat to their survival and therefore treat them with hostility. She stated that their defensive reaction has been to impose white supremacy, or racism, on people of color throughout history. Basing part of her argument on observations by Neeley Fuller in his 1969 Textbook for Victims of White Supremacy, Welsing focused on his view of racism as a "universally operating 'system' of white supremacy rule and domination" in which the "majority of the world's white people participate." He suggested that economic forms of government such as capitalism and communism were created to perpetuate white domination and that the white "race" is really an "organization" dedicated to maintaining control over the world. In addition, he ...

Ghost in the Machine: Is there a soul?

Gilbert Ryles coined the term "Ghost in the Machine" in reference to Rene Descartes's writings on mind-body dualism. In light of Thunderf00t recent debate and statements on the soul, and the response to it by the worst witness for Jesus ever, VenomFangX, I wanted to do a little exploring on the issue. I want to hear other people's reasoned opinions on the topic as well. Does a soul exist? Is the mind separate from the brain? Please leave your thoughts in the comments. Try to be civil : ) I'm a molecular biologist, not a cognitive scientist or philosopher, so my understanding of the topic will necessarily be colored by my educational background, and probably incomplete. "There is a doctrine about the nature and place of the mind which is prevalent among theorists, to which most philosophers, psychologists and religious teachers subscribe with minor reservations. Although they admit certain theoretical difficulties in it, they tend to assume that these can be overcome without serious modifications being made to the architecture of the theory." Ryle believes that the central principles of the doctrine are unsound and conflict with the entire body of what we know about the mind. "With the doubtful exceptions of the mentally-incompetent and infants-in-arms, every human being has both a body and a mind. The body and the mind are ordinarily harnessed together, but after the death of the body, tradition holds that the mind continues to exist and function. According to the ...

Noam Chomsky on the Drug War

Chomsky gives one of the most reasoned and logical arguments against the "War on Drugs" I have heard yet. What follows is an NPR caller speaking some truth and the lame response from Obama's "Drug Czar" Gil Kerlikowske. Lets hope the recent talk from Obama about being open for debate will actually happen. [update: nope, "open for debate" didn't happen] Obama Says Legalizing Drugs is Worthy of Debate: www.youtube.com

(A series of videos exposing the funny stupidity of creationists and why they deserve to be laughed at. In each case the creationist statements are shown to be outrageously stupid by even the most rudimentary knowledge of science.) • www.youtube.com --- Please subscribe to Science & Reason: • www.youtube.com • www.youtube.com • www.youtube.com • www.youtube.com --- Speciation is the evolutionary process by which new biological species arise. The biologist Orator F. Cook seems to have been the first to coin the term 'speciation' for the splitting of lineages or 'cladogenesis,' as opposed to 'anagenesis' or 'phyletic evolution' occurring within lineages. Whether genetic drift is a minor or major contributor to speciation is the subject of much ongoing discussion. There are four geographic modes of speciation in nature, based on the extent to which speciating populations are geographically isolated from one another: allopatric, peripatric, parapatric, and sympatric. Speciation may also be induced artificially, through animal husbandry or laboratory experiments. Observed examples of each kind of ...
