The Young Rascals - Groovin' 1967
Eddie Brigati (vocals), Felix Cavaliere (keyboard, vocals), Gene Cornish (guitar) and Dino Danelli (drums) started the band in New Jersey. Their first two singles were covers, but after that the band's songwriting team of Brigati and Cavaliere began providing most of their songs, and the hits kept coming for the next two years. "I've Been Lonely Too Long" & "You Better Run", were only modest hits, but "Groovin'" (#1 US/Canada, 1967) put them at the top of the charts on both sides of the pond. The song was very different from the Rascals' normal style, enough so that Atlantic Records head Jerry Wexler did not actually want to release it. It was the only hit the Rascals had in the UK. The Young Rascals were particularly popular in the second half of the '60's and the band's influence on aspiring white R&B acts was without equal. Many groups attempted to capture the Rascals' attitude and energy. Vanilla Fudge, the epitome of over-the-top funky psychedelia, among many others, owed much to the Rascals'.

I Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore (Young Rascals)
The Young Rascals first gig was on Monday, February 15th, 1965 at the "Choo Choo Club" in Garfield, New Jersey. Just 280 days later, this song was the first Rascals single to hit the Billboard Top 100. It was released on November 22nd, 1965 and peaked at No. 52. The Young Rascals appeared on national television for the first time on Monday, December 27th. They performed this song on the popular television show 'Hullabaloo' with Eddie Brigati singing the lead...enjoy!

RASCALS is a comedy about the joys of conning where Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn play two cool competing conmen trying to out-scheme each other in consistently amusing and surprising setups. But when both fall for the same girl (Kangna), the competition reaches an all new level as both men constantly attempt to outwit each other to win over the surprisingly elusive Kangna! Since much of the comedy involves people taking advantage of one another, having everything put forward in such a gossamer manner that RASCALS becomes an enjoyable journey throughout with an interesting twist at the end!

"Good Lovin'" is the #1 hit by the Rascals from their 1966 album "The Young Rascals". Originally, the song was performed by the Olympics but was only moderately successful reaching 81 on the Billboard Pop Singles Charts. The Rascals' rendition of the song is an amazing take on a wonderful song. A song full of energy, soul and rock and roll. I love the part where the music just STOPS altogether for a couple seconds...then goes HARD right back into the groove. No one can argue that this groove is where it's at. A timeless song by a timeless act!

The Young Rascals performed this song on the national television show Hullabaloo. This was their second appearance on the program. This appearance took place Monday, February 28th, 1966. It had been just a little over a year since their made their debut performance as a band on Monday February 15th, 1965 at the Choo-Choo Club in Garfield, New Jersey. The future Rock-n-Roll Hall of Famers would release their debut Atlantic album "The Young Rascals" one month later on March 28th, 1966.

Cleaned up (restored) version of the 1932 "Our Gang" short with just the scenes of Kendall McComas (Brisbane), Bobby Hutchins (Wheezer) and Otto Fries (Blacksmith). Everyone wants this poor kid to grow up to be president, but all he wants to be is a streetcar conductor, 'cuz boy, do they pick up the nickels!' Soundbooth Pro worked out great in removing years of hiss, clicks, and other sounds, and Premier Pro helped remove many artifacts and restore brilliance to the print. Unfortuantely, the tears and specks will take some more time to repair, but in the meantime, here's one of the better episodes that came out of the Hal Roach Studio during the series' run...
Groovin' (Italian Version) The Young Rascals
Very rare version of The Young Rascals' international hit, "Groovin'. In the spring of 1967, this record topped the charts & remained there throughout the summer of that year. Ahmet Ertegun and the good folks at Atlantic Records, decided to have their biggest selling artists (at the time) re-record it in Italian and Spanish. The Engish version translated so well globally, that they never pursued the Italian & Spanish versions any further. But, since The Young Rascals were an Italian group from New York(except for Gene Cornish-guitarist), I'm sure their families were quite proud of them.
