How to train your dog not to pull- Loose Leash Walking
In other words- walking on a loose leash. This video quickly outines exercises to get your dog walking on a loose leash by your side. Put very basically FIRST you will teach the dog what you want them to do! And secondly, stop reinforcing them when they pull! I demonstrate the exercise using a clicker, but if you do not have one, you can always use a verbal marker like yes etc. However you will get much faster and reliable results by using the clicker. If you hold the clicker in the same hand as the leash, and keep the treats in the other hand, you will find it easier to manage. Practice holding the leash, clicker, and treats when you do not have the dog attached to the leash yet, so you dont become overwhelmed. A great book on loose leash walking, or how to stop your dog from pulling is- My Dog Pulls. What Do I Do? by Turid Rugaas You can get this book on www.dogwise.com and other places too. Its very short and has lots of pictures. I would advise against using any forms of positive punishment when teaching any behavior, but especially leash walking, as startling or hurting a dog actually increases their stress hormones in their body causing the dog to be more hyperactive and more likely to become aroused and reactive towards other dogs and people (weather they want to greet them or not). SD75I 5785, Illinois Central SD70 1007, GP38-2 4730, SD75I 5744, SD40-2 5249, and a Dash9-44CWL 2505. Pulling 105 cars west to Toronto. First up, movie theater owners and a few lucky bloggers recently got to see ten minutes of footage from Peter Jackson's upcoming Hobbit adaptation at this year's CinemaCon in Vegas. The convention was an opportunity for Jackson to push his new 48 frame-per-second shots on theater owners, who would have to upgrade their projectors to screen the new Hobbit film. Jackson and fellow fantasy filmmaker James Cameron have been touting the new frame rate for several months. The only problem - the preview footage received some pretty mixed reviews. While many sweeping landscape shots were praised, all the performance footage was quickly condemned as having completely lost the cinematic feel. Making and using Sugar Wax PART 2
RECIPE: 2 CUPS SUGAR, ¼ CUP LEMON JUICE, ¼ CUP WATER (Sorry I said the wrong recipe in the video) MAKING THE SUGAR WAX: Using a gas stove: 1.Put the ingredients in a saucepan and heat it on high. It will boil for approximately ten minutes. 2. Watch the bubbles carefully and when the bubbles turn a light brown color, turn the heat down till it's as low as it can be. The wax should be turning a golden brown color. 3. Let it simmer for about another five minutes while watching very very carefully. When the wax turns golden brown like the color in my videos then it is done. (When the wax is on step three and is simmering take a tiny bit out on a spoon and run cold water over it. When it cools enough to touch, it should be stretchy. You can test it on your arm. Do this about every two minutes while the wax is simmering until it stretches out on your arm and pulls off easily. If it sticks and won't come off it's not done and if it's brittle you've overcooked it.) MAKING WAX USING AN ELECTRIC STOVE: Follow the same steps but reduce the time alot. Cook the wax on medium for 5 to 8 minutes. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 6-10 minutes. Watch the bubbles carefully and when the wax reaches the correct take it off heat immediately. A base deep water culture system starts out easy and simple like this You have a 3.5 gallon bucket, a nice little net pot that holds the hydroton, a piece of rockwool to wick-up the water, and underneath is an airstone to get the water nutrients bubbling up to the plant. Here we have a 70 liter airpump. This will power the airstone that bubbles the water and nutrients up to meet the rock wool and the medium, pulling up water and oxygen for the rooting system. MBTA Christmas Special 2009
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! For my first ever Christmas special I head out to Ipswich to catch my favorite MBTA screamer, 1014, depart with loads of horn pulling a rare 4 car set. Then off to Boston to gather footage for an upcoming special (keep an eye out when 2010 rolls around) and to see the scenic Riverside branch of the Green line in all its snowy glory, along with the Orange line on a very blustery December day.
