Music: Tom Lacy- Travel with the Harmonizer Prodomo- The Conqueror **A Note about the trip** Opened in 2009 by TransLink, Greater Vancouver, BC's regional transit agency, just in time to serve the airport, Olympic Village, Richmond and downtown Vancouver for the 2010 Olympic Games (and far beyond!), the Canada Line is the third line in TransLink's SkyTrain automated rapid transit system. It is the only line with a significant portion in a subway, and the only line with a branch (to the YVR Airport on Sea Island). It serves downtown, with connections to the Expo and Millennium Lines, SeaBus, and West Coast Express at Waterfront, the 99 B-Line at City Hall / Broadway, and numerous bus routes at every station. In this video, I am travelling through Richmond, Vancouver's immediate suburb to the south, a very densely Asian area. Leaving Richmond-Brighouse, I pass the layover track for northbound trains, Lansdowne, Aberdeen and Bridgeport stations (the latter being the junction with the YVR-Airport branch), before passing the Ops and Maint. Arctic Monkeys - When The Sun Goes Down (video)
When the Sun Goes Down is the second single by Arctic Monkeys, released on 16 January 2006. The song, about prostitution in the Neepsend district of Sheffield, was originally known as "Scummy" and followed debut single "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" to UK Number One. The track is featured on the band's debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, released the week after this single. The song and music video inspired a longer film, named Scummy Man after a line from the song, using the same actors who appeared in the music video to tell the story of 'Nina', the nameless "that girl there" from the song. Alec Turners own words about the song: "We used to have a practice room in an old industrial sort of area just outside town. Loads of bands practice round there and we still do as well. There are sandwich shops and some other businesses that are run there by day. At night, as well as studios and practice rooms there is perhaps some less celebrated activity. When we moved into our room the man next door actually really said, 'It changes around here when the sun goes down,' and you would get asked for business [by prostitutes] out in the street sometimes, or it would be the middle of the night and there would be a bloke with a carrier bag just walking about as we left. Ke$ha: Tik Tok - STRING TRIO COVER (split screen, one player) This is the 16th video in my continuing series of classicalized popular music. One of my goals in doing these popular music video projects is to help keep string instruments relevant. I mean to do everything from help keep current string students interested in their instruments, to introducing the violin to new listeners who maybe had no idea that a violin can play all their favorite popular songs too. My approach in arranging and performing: I simply play the music its its most traditional sense as "pure" music, I arrange the score respecting the integrity of the music so that my performance is as true to the original song as is reasonably possible. This way you can see it without all the distractions such as lyrics, electronic sounds, unnatural instruments, exaggerated beat machinery, etc. that have nothing to do with pure music -- the melody, harmony, and rhythm. All 16 of my covers are full length, and are in both the exact same key and tempo as the originals. The original video of the song may be seen here: www.youtube.com To do this video, I listened to the original song and by ear wrote out a sheet music score, then arranged it as a trio for 2 violins and viola, and then performed it.
