Organ Printing

Dr. Gabor Forgacs made that prediction. Now, he is making it a reality. Gabor is a University of Missouri researcher doing groundbreaking work in regenerative medicine. He is also the Scientific Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Organovo, the latest company to receive support from you, the donors of the Methuselah Foundation. As we work to identify breakthrough technology that will help us reach our shared goal of extending healthy human life, Organovo stands out. Thanks to your contributions we are able to assist them as they apply their proprietary technology to "print" new organs. Organovo: Printing Organs The "ink" in the bioprinting process employed by Organovo is composed of spheres packed with tens of thousands of human cells. These spheres are assembled or "printed" on sheets of organic biopaper. By precisely placing the cells with the bioprinter, and providing them with the proper natural developmental cues, they do exactly what they do in nature: they self assemble into fully formed, functional tissue. The unique science blends biophysics and cell biology with computer aided design and high precision deposition to recreate the micro-architecture of the most complex human tissue. Organovo is currently developing blood vessels and intends to use the same technology to create organs or bio-constructs that reproduce organ function. Dr. Forgacs envisions fully implantable organs printed from a patient's own cells. "You give us your cells: we grow them, we print ...

Giant Foot Print 200 Million Yrs Old - South Africa

Michael Tellinger shows off what could be one of the best pieces of evidence that there were giants on Earth a long, long time ago. Geologists have marvelled at this giant foot print in rough granite, about 4 feet long. Some still say that it is a natural erosion pattern. Personally I find that suggestion highy improbable for various reasons that I will not go into here. Prof. Pieter Wagener from UPE, suggests that "there is a higher probability of little green men arriving from space and licking it out with their tongues, than being created by natural erosion". It is located in South Africa, near the town of Mpaluzi, close to the Swaziland border. It is estimated to be between 200 million and 3 Billion years old because of our current understanding of the formation of granites in Earth's history. This dating immediately causes great debate and argument - so I urge you to keep your mind open and focused on the evidence. This amazing footprint in granite was discovered in 1912 by a hunter called Stoffel Coetzee, while hunting in the remote area. At the time this was a deeply remote part of South Africa known as the Eastern Transvaal, teeming with wild life, including antelope and lions. It remains in the same condition as it was when first discovered and the possibility that this was a carved hoax is extremely low because of its remote location. Even today, it is difficult to find. The real mystery is how this amazing phenomenon occured - I have no idea - but here it is ...

Amazing 3D Printer

Forwards Collection: www.funtheory.net Like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com Follow us on Twitter: twitter.com 3D printing is a form of additive manufacturing technology where a three dimensional object is created by laying down successive layers of material. 3D printers are generally faster, more affordable and easier to use than other additive manufacturing technologies. 3D printers offer product developers the ability to print parts and assemblies made of several materials with different mechanical and physical properties in a single build process. Advanced 3D printing technologies yield models that can serve as product prototypes. There has been large growth in the sale of 3D printers. Additionally, the cost of 3D printers has declined. The technology also finds use in the jewelry, footwear, industrial design, architecture, engineering and construction (AEC), automotive, aerospace, dental and medical industries, education, GIS, civil engineers, etc.

How To Screen Print: T Shirt Heat Transfers At Home #2

WEBSITE: catspitproductionsllc.com Transfer Articles page catspitproductionsllc.com I made this 2 part video some time ago before the Catspit Productions YouTube channel was born. I thought it had a lot of good information in it so I decided to post it. The video quality is poorer than usual and the audio in the second part gets louder when I move to the close up shot of the heat press. I will do another heat transfer video in the future covering a full color laser transfer paper that is a 2-part process. The paper weeds itself of the extra adhesive wherever toner is absent. Trimming is unnecessary. This video covers Avery heat transfers, which are readily available at any office supply or Walmart. Keep in mind there are many different kinds and types of transfer papers. This particular one is designed for home use with an iron. Just make sure your iron is very, very hot and you should use a lot of pressure. Follow the instructions given with your Avery heat transfers as well. I would suggest washing these shirts with extra water for the first time alone, or with a couple others that have just been pressed. This will help dilute any bleeding that may occur in the first wash. However many you want to wash at one time, just use more water than you normally would for a wash that size. Please see the Heat Transfer page on the Catspit Productions website too. Look for articles that supplement the transfer videos. WEBSITE: catspitproductionsllc.com

Woodcut Printing 1450-1520

The invention of printing allowed books and images to become household objects. Both could be reproduced quickly and in large numbers, whereas before this revolutionary technology they could only be drawn, painted or written by hand. This film focuses on woodcut printing. Printmaker and artist Anne Desmet was commissioned by the V&A to make a copy of sheet of playing cards in the Museums collections. The orginal sheet of cards was printed onto paper with a woodblock. The sheet was then hand-coloured using stencils. The use of woodblocks to print text had been known in the East since the 8th century. In Europe the technique was first applied to textiles, but shortly after 1400 it was adopted also for images.

Volkswagen: Print Ad Test Drive

App meets print ad How do you persuade drivers of the benefits of a car, via print advertising? And without getting them to do a real-life test drive? Volkswagen in Norway addressed this by creating an app which allows users to 'test drive' the car within a print ad, using Augmented Reality. The print ads appeared in some of Norway's most popular print publications. Having downloaded the app, readers held their phone over the print ad to make the car 'drive' and could test out three different features of the vehicle: Lane Assist, Adaptive Lights and Cruise Control

28c3: Print Me If You Dare

Download high quality version: bit.ly Description: events.ccc.de Ang Cui, Jonathan Voris: Print Me If You Dare Firmware Modification Attacks and the Rise of Printer Malware Network printers are ubiquitous fixtures within the modern IT infrastructure. Residing within sensitive networks and lacking in security, these devices represent high-value targets that can theoretically be used not only to manipulate and exfiltrate the sensitive information such as network credentials and sensitive documents, but also as fully functional general-purpose bot-nodes which give attackers a stealthy, persistent foothold inside the victim network for further recognizance, exploitation and exfiltration. We first present several generic firmware modification attacks against HP printers. Weaknesses within the firmware update process allows the attacker to make arbitrary modifications to the NVRAM contents of the device. The attacks we present exploit a functional vulnerability common to all HP printers, and do not depend on any specific code vulnerability. These attacks cannot be prevented by any authentication mechanism on the printer, and can be delivered over the network, either directly or through a print server (active attack) and as hidden payloads within documents (reflexive attack). In order to demonstrate these firmware modification attacks, we present a detailed description of several common HP firmware RFU (remote firmware update) formats, including the general file format, along ...

Twin Rail Mobius pendant with balls! - 3D printed metal @shapeways

Info and purchasing: shpws.me I designed this pendant, I call it Twin Rail Mobius - with balls! To buy the pendant, please visit www.shapeways.com you will also need to obtain some (upto 31) 6mm (1/4" works too) balls Its a kind of kinetic math art double möbius (mobius or moebius depending how you spell it) band or strip like structure with rails forming a continuous double loop ring track for ball bearings to travel around. I bought some 6mm chrome steel ball bearings and retro-fitted them. Chrome steel balls can be 'blued' by heating with a gas torch, see www.youtube.com As a piece of jewellery, this pendant is quite large (46mm max diameter) and is more suitable for a man. Rapid Prototyping also makes use of 3D printing, but I prefer to create decorative and unusual objects. One of the benefits of 3D printing is that an item such as a mobius strip can be made without complicated tooling or destroying the master when a mould is made as the process is additive and the object is built up layer by layer. The item is literally grown from nothing! Some have asked if this is my own invention - yes it is. Others have asked if this is an illusion - no, it is not. And thank you to Assimilate71 for the comment "Escher is impressed. Nice design" :) Follow me on Twitter - twitter.com ==================== A smaller version, as yet utested with 4mm balls, is available via Shapeways, see; shpws.me
