Policing Atheism

Theist calls for the government to police and shut down "militant atheist" websites. Link to Evilbible.com www.evilbible.com Link to Original Video www.youtube.com Link to blog with "A Prayer for Muslims" blog.founders.org My initial impression of Samuel Paul Sutherland is that he's sincerely distressed at the idea of hatred towards his chosen belief system. While I can sympathize with that distress it doesn't change the fact that his response is characteristic of someone who is totally missing that while the bible has meaning that cannot be understood without examining it in the context of the original society where it was introduced as well as the language it was written in? That doesn't change the fact that it is used and translated today in ways that impact on the world around us. So "what it was supposed to mean" is almost irrelevant when people are hell bent on making it mean something else that they can use against the people of this world. I invite Zwemer Ministries to contact me for further discussion on this matter. PS to all; When I said; "It is not allowed here in America" I meant that's how it is supposed to be. In reality the American Government spies freely on its citizens in violation of our rights. They do it quite openly. We can thank the Conservatives for that. www.democracynow.org

Tool Time: Bloomberg Policing Homeless Diets

NYC's Mayor Michael Bloomberg found a new demographic to force his food regulations on, the homeless. Hasn't it gone a little too far when we are trying to monitor the sodium intake of the people who live their lives on the streets, never knowing where their next meal is coming from? Apparently Bloomberg doesn't think that it is too far, new regulations in New York ban the donation of food to homeless shelters. Twitter: twitter.com Facebook: www.facebook.com

Policing is Too Important to be Left to the Government: Economist Ed Stringham

"Because police are so important, I think that we should abandon the idea that government needs to provide it." says economics professor Edward Stringham. "Wherever we see government it's not helpful, it's bureaucratic, it's not serving its customers and I would say that especially applies in the area of police." At FreedomFest 2011, Reason's Matt Welch sat down with Stringham to talk about privatizing security, real world examples in the United States and why this won't lead to police protection only for the rich. Held each July in Las Vegas, FreedomFest is attended by around 2000 libertarians and advocates of limited government. Reason.tv spoke with over two dozen speakers and attendees and will be releasing interviews over the coming weeks. Watch all our FreedomFest interviews at www.youtube.com Stringham is the LV Hackley Endowed Professor for the Study of Capitalism and Free Enterprise at Fayetteville State University and co-author if the 2006 Reason Foundation study "No Booze? The end of policing by consent?-The Big Story-01-25-2012

presstv.ir The unrest on the streets of Britain was fuelled by a multitude of issues - but would the situation have been improved with the introduction of water cannons, rubber bullets and live ammunition being used by the police? What about other protests the government might find embarrassing? Could protestors demonstrating against Israeli action in Gaza fall foul of these potential new rules as the authorities seek to silence them? Well, Sir Denis O'Connor, HM Inspectorate of Constabulary seems to think new powers of force are just what the police in the UK needs. The worrying thing for many would-be protestors is Sir Denis is not alone. There is yet to be an outpouring of outrage from the Coalition government. Immediately after the summer's disturbance, PM David Cameron advocated the use of water cannons on those on the streets and did not rule out rubber bullets. Whilst people burning and looting should not expect much support from the general public, what of legitimate demonstrators who might feel threatened by this shift in tactics from the police? Would this change in direction - if implemented by the police- scare those with genuine grievances away from the streets? Will this shift not just serve to inflame tensions, not help the public's confidence in the forces of law and order? The Met Police has already been accused of kittling in protestors and using horses and dogs to intimidate and bully demonstrators - surely live ammunition would simply be asking for ...

Pre-Crime & Predictive Policing | 25.01.2012

The slides shown during this event are available on the Policy Exchange website. Predicting where offences will occur and deploying police before crime happens has been an inexact science until recently, but that may soon change. Two pilots of the experimental 'predictive policing' method are underway in California and this new approach could have important lessons for UK policing in how forces deploy their resources to prevent crime. Detailed historical crime data and computer algorithms based on criminal behaviour patterns are being utilised to predict where crime is likely to occur and when, allowing police resources to be allocated before crime takes place. If effective, the predictive policing method could enable the police to use modern computer models to meet the Peelian objective of policing -- to prevent crime that has yet to occur, rather than respond ever more effectively to past crimes and the detection of perpetrators. The most robust predictive policing pilot, in Los Angeles, has just begun and shows some promising early results. The lead officer for the LAPD pilot, and a pioneer of predictive policing, Sean Malinowski, will be a speaker alongside George Tita, an expert on predictive models, from the University of California at Irvine. Their presentation will be followed by a response from Nick Gargan, Chief Executive of the NPIA, who will discuss implications for the UK, before a general discussion and Q&A session.

Ron Paul - Imagine - STOP POLICING THE WORLD!

revolutionpac.com This is a message from the "Godfather" of the Tea Party to Obama. Now that we have killed Osama Bin Laden it is time to end the wars and stop policing the world. A little bit of history: the Tea Party movement started when Ron Paul raised a record $6 million in 24 hours on the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party in December 2007. Here is the USAToday article on that event: www.usatoday.com This talk is called "Imagine" and it was given by Ron Paul on March 11, 2009. The original text of the talk is below: Imagine for a moment that somewhere in the middle of Texas there was a large foreign military base, say Chinese or Russian. Imagine that thousands of armed foreign troops were constantly patrolling American streets in military vehicles. Imagine they were here under the auspices of "keeping us safe" or "promoting democracy" or "protecting their strategic interests." Imagine that they operated outside of US law, and that the Constitution did not apply to them. Imagine that every now and then they made mistakes or acted on bad information and accidentally killed or terrorized innocent Americans, including women and children, most of the time with little to no repercussions or consequences. Imagine that they set up checkpoints on our soil and routinely searched and ransacked entire neighborhoods of homes. Imagine if Americans were fearful of these foreign troops, and overwhelmingly thought America would be better off without their presence. Imagine if some ...

Policing for Profit - The Abuse of Civil Asset Forfeiture

Learn more at www.ij.org Civil forfeiture laws represent one of the most serious assaults on private property rights in the nation today. With civil forfeiture, police and prosecutors can seize your property and use it to fund their budgets—all without charging you with a crime. Americans are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, but with civil forfeiture, your property is guilty until you prove it innocent—and law enforcement has a huge incentive to police for profit, not justice. If police suspect that you committed a crime, they can arrest you and put you on trial. At that trial, prosecutors must prove you are guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. But if police suspect your car was involved in a crime, they can take it, sell it and, in most places, pocket the proceeds to pad their budgets. They need not prove you committed any crime—or even arrest you—to take your property away. Welcome to the upside-down world of civil asset forfeiture. With civil forfeiture, your property is guilty until you prove it innocent to get it back. And because most state and federal laws allow police and prosecutors to pocket the proceeds, they have a big incentive to pursue profits, not justice. How big? In 1986, the Justice Departments forfeiture fund took in 94 million dollars. Now it has more than a billion. State and local agencies receive forfeiture funds, too—but we don't know how much because most states don't publicly report on forfeiture. No surprise—abuse is rampant. One New ...

Riz Khan - Policing the world

The US has the most powerful military in the world and its forces are currently involved in conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan. Many feel the only superpower in the world has an obligation to enforce and protect global peace and democracy. Tonight on Adam vs. the Man with Adam Kokesh: Your government is broke. But don't worry! Obama won't have to sell anything or even raise taxes, at least not directly, to keep government spending at current levels - HE'S JUST GOING TO STEAL YOUR RETIREMENT! Adam explains just what the President thinks is more important than NOT STEALING and Adam is joined by Political Science PhD and Professor at Occidental College, Caroline Heldman, and Stephen Skolnick, who is organizing a rally in Indiana to protest a state supreme court decision. Then, a special presentation from Luke Rudkowski about the Chicken Whisperer in Georgia. Adam knows talking about economic exploitation by the government can get tedious at times, but at some point, in trying to re-recruit American youth, the Obama campaign is going to run into, "We'd love to help, and thanks to the high unemployment, we've got plenty of time, but now that we understand a little bit about economics, we're supporting Ron Paul."

NSW Police Force - 150 years of service

The NSW Police Force celebrates 150 years of proud policing traditions in 2012. The Force has had an influential role in shaping the state of NSW and the 150th anniversary is as significant to the community as it is to the NSW Police Force. A range of events and activities have been scheduled over the course of 2012 to commemorate this important historic event. One such event is the Sea of Blue March. What is the Sea of Blue March? On 1 March 2012, the 150th Anniversary of Policing will be formally launched to the public with the NSW Police Force banner being led by a police marine contingent across Sydney Harbour to the historic quarter known as The Rocks. A 'Sea of Blue' marching contingent will then take the banner from the Marine Area Command up George Street to Town Hall, announcing 150 years of policing in NSW. What is the significance of the date -- 1 March 2012? This date is noteworthy as 1 March 1862 was the day the existing independent police units of the colony were amalgamated into the single NSW Police Force. Due to a number of law and order issues in NSW in the late 1850s and early 1860s, support for the creation of one unified police force gained a lot of momentum. As a result, all existing police forces were combined under the Police Regulation Act 1862 to form the NSW Police Force (the Act was later replaced by the Police Regulation Act 1899). Former Army Captain John McLerie was appointed Inspector General and the Force set up its headquarters in Phillip ...

Policing on two wheels

Tiny cameras are helping a new team of traffic officers improve the safety of the county's roads. Cameras on board their BMW bikes give Essex Police motorcyclists a helping hand in catching and educating offenders breaking the law on the roads of Essex. The new countywide unit deals with crashes, accidents and other incidents on the frontline and uses the cameras to capture footage which may later help bring offenders to justice at court. Officers can also use the cameras to play back the footage and show motorists how their driving could be putting their safety and the safety of other road users at risk. The team of nine full-time motorcyclists works to reduce the number of casualties on the roads of Essex and help keep the county moving by responding to incidents more quickly than other vehicles are able to.

NSW Police Force Class 315 Attestation

More than 300 police recruits will receive a commemorative pin during an Attestation ceremony at the NSW Police Force Academy in Goulburn this morning (Friday 4 May 2012), celebrating the fact they are joining the Force in the 150th year of policing in NSW. The new recruits, the first for 2012, will be officially welcomed to the Force by NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione. "Attestation is a moment of great pride and excitement for any new police officer, but to be joining our ranks in the Force's 150th year is an even bigger honour, and one that we wanted to mark with something special," Commissioner Scipione said. "All Probationary Constables who attest in 2012 will receive the commemorative pin, which symbolises not only the beginning of their policing careers, but also the great heritage of the organisation they have decided to join. "I welcome the 310 new police officers who are attesting today. They are about to embark on a career that is sometimes challenging, never boring, and always rewarding. I have no doubt they will prove to be valuable additions to their local area commands and the communities they serve." The recruits from "Class 315" will begin work at their new postings on Monday morning. A total of 76 have been allocated to metropolitan regions and 234 to regional and rural areas. Of the 310 new recruits, 210 are male and 100 are female. The youngest is 19 years old and the oldest is 47. The new officers are culturally diverse as well. About 10 per ...

EU's Greek problem-On the Edgee with Max Keiser-10-22-2011

www.presstv.com In this edition of the show Max interviews Ed Harrison from Creditwritedowns.com. He talks about the recent Euro zone's push for tougher policing of Greece. Some euro zone countries want a European Commission task force to be given extra powers to oversee the sale of Greek state assets and the country's civil service under a far-reaching plan to tighten supervision of Athens. The radical proposal, dismissed by some officials as a form of colonialism and which may be shot down in the face of strong opposition, underscores mounting pressure for stricter policing of Athens, with some ready to see its sovereignty clipped.
