YouTubePop - Poetry by Gary [Feat. Gary]
Lyrics to Poem(s): My long two-pointed ladder's sticking through a tree Toward heaven still, And there's a barrel that I didn't fill Beside it, and there may be two or three Apples I didn't pick upon some bough. But I am done with apple-picking now. Essence of winter sleep is on the night, The scent of apples: I am drowsing off. I cannot rub the strangeness from my sight I got from looking through a pane of glass I skimmed this morning from the drinking trough And held against the world of hoary grass. It melted, and I let it fall and break. But I was well Upon my way to sleep before it fell, And I could tell What form my dreaming was about to take. Magnified apples appear and disappear, Stem end and blossom end, And every fleck of russet showing clear. My instep arch not only keeps the ache, It keeps the pressure of a ladder-round. I feel the ladder sway as the boughs bend. And I keep hearing from the cellar bin The rumbling sound Of load on load of apples coming in. For I have had too much Of apple-picking: I am overtired Of the great harvest I myself desired. There were ten thousand thousand fruit to touch, Cherish in hand, lift down, and not let fall. For all That struck the earth, No matter if not bruised or spiked with stubble, Went surely to the cider-apple heap As of no worth. One can see what will trouble This sleep of mine, whatever sleep it is. Were he not gone, The woodchuck could say whether it's like his Long sleep, as I describe its coming on, Or just some ...

POETRY IN MOTION ~ Johnny Tillotson 1960.wmv
POETRY IN MOTION ~ Johnny Tillotson ~ 1960 ~ Cadence Records. This is the tune that made Johnny Tillotson a "Teen Idol" . Others included: DREAMY EYES, WITHOUT YOU, & IT KEEPS RIGHT ON-A HURTIN'. POETRY IN MOTION is one of my personal favorites because of "the sound". It rates with Bobby Darin's DREAM LOVER, Steve Lawrence's PRETTY BLUE EYES, Bobby Rydell's LITTLE BITTY GIRL & Paul Anka's PUT YOUR HEAD ON MY SHOULDER. It's all in "the sound" . Johnny Tillotson performed POETRY IN MOTION on Dick Clark's AMERICAN BANDSTAND on Thursday - September 22, 1960. The song first hit the charts on October 10, 1960, stayed on the charts for 15 weeks , & peaked at #2.

"If" by Rudyard Kipling (poetry reading)
If you think the views expressed in this poem are admirable, you should consider what George Orwell said about Kipling: 4umi.com Also you could listen to Roger Whittaker, "I Don't Believe In 'If' Anymore" www.youtube.com Kipling wrote this poem for his son John then aged 12. Later he pulled strings to get John into the Great War, and John was killed in 1915. Later Kipling wrote this codicil about his son and all the other dead sons: : "If any question why we died, tell them, because our fathers lied". Thus "If" does not represent Kipling's views. WARNING. WHAT FOLLOWS IS BRITISH HUMOUR. Some of my tastier friends from the underworld don't understand Kipling's archaic language, so I promised them a verse by verse translation. It should be read in parallel with the original. Keep schtum: admit nothing: the watchword is Plausible Deniability - okay that's two watchwords - they can't just say it : at the end of the day they have to prove it and produce evidence. Remember that witnesses can be bought or frightened off. Just stay cool and alert, sleep with one eye open and watch your back. Make like there's all the time in the world: eventually they'll run out of patience and make a mistake. If they tell lies about you and you can prove it, sue the bastards. Love your enemies because that really annoys them. Don't let on how smart you are. Pretend to be nice. Don't waste time on ideas that don't work out, be the first to recognise a lost cause. Parkour - Poetry in Motion Text: I walk on the Red Carpet of the Universe To Converse between time and space, Looking for a place to be free, a place that I see, what separates you from me. I overcome my fears, facing them head on, against every challenge I try to stay strong, Sprinting I leap, hit the wall as I flow, Then vault forwards to the ground below, Leaping from rail to rail, the presents irrelevant, So my eyes focus on the future, and determine the environment. I hit the path with graceful pace, beast the rail sweat dripping from my face. I hit the bollard, and fly through the air, an explosion of movement, wind streaming through my hair. My surroundings are a blur, so my senses must sharpen, I tunnel my vision, everything else begins to darken. As I hit the landing ...
