Noodle physics simulation ;p - Blender and Bullet Physics

Quick noodle rigid body dynamics test using real-world relative scale. Details...: Pasta / spaghetti relative dimensions: 2.5mm dia., 250mm length, rigid bodies' mass (and centers of) calculated based on material densities, gravity: 9.8m/s. Physics are to scale, but unfortunately my movements (external forces) in the virtual world were too fast relative to the scale (and impatience due to simulation running slow ;) this was made obvious after rendering the frames and playing them back at real-time speed. Therefore movements and playback speed are not quite to scale. That's what tests are for... to learn from. The bizarre movements (using mouse): after dropping the fork in the glass I threw the glass, then threw the bowl, played with a noodle, then dragged the fork and threw it as well. Fork, bowl and glass are compounded HACD convex decompositions. Noodles are capsule strings (no longer sticking with full radius as margin). Step by step, we are slowly getting closer; one day we'll be able to easily simulate real-world physics using any arbitrary rigid body shapes... one day... The Physics of Minecraft: Gravity

What is the gravitational acceleration in Minecraft? Let us find out! ------------------------- About the initial height: TLDR: It's negligible I only noticed the initial height after I recorded the video, but I conducted additional experiments on the significance of this. The initial height only affects the the maximum height, which causes the maximum height to be 42 instead of 43. Both the time and the horizontal distance are the same. If the initial height is taken into account, the gravitational acceleration would be 17ms^-2. All the values used and measured were rounded to two significant figures (for convenience and for future videos), which mean that the last digit falls within the expected variation in error with significant figures. The error from the height is negligible compared to the error in measurement. A tip of the hat to reddit for starting a discourse on scientific rigour. The rigourous answer is 16.9m/s^2 This is a just parody of science videos. If we really wanted to find how minecraft physics worked, we would just look at the code. ------------------------- Check out our blog: nopefully.org Follow us on Twitter! http Subscribe to our Livestream page: livestream.com

Explaining the physics of how a wax slug works and why it is able to do so much damage. We explain how a connection was made with granular impacts and how the impacts of wax slugs are actually granular impact -- in reverse. I wanted to explain how these improvised rounds differentiate from a normal bullet or solid lead slug. Some of you may be interested in the science behind these unique rounds. A little geeky and dry but I hope you enjoy it and understand the properties. - The "Box of Truth" How bullets react with sand theboxotruth.com - Granular Impacts study scifair.org -BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR OWN WAX SLUGS- --Safety Warning-- Please read. I read a posting at AR15.com about someone's shotgun blowing up from using wax slugs. There is a lot of speculation about the cause. The shotgun was a Maveric (the econo-line from Mossberg). Some say he may have shot a squib (the primer didn't ignite the powder, but caused a barrel obstruction) The user had modified the shell, replacing the wadding with one from a different brand of shell too. www.ar15.com - Again, I stress, use these at your own caution. - Music by Tunguska Electronic Music Society Olga Scotland - "Big Cosmic Fish"

Physicists Create Quantum Network Between Two Labs

If you think the Internet is fast now, wait till we get the quantum Internet. German physicists have created a basic quantum network between two labs that can transmit and store information via a fiber-optic cable at the quantum level. The network prototype features two all-purpose nodes that can send, receive, and store information that shoots between them on a single photon. It's all about the quantum bits, or quibits. Unlike ordinary electronic bits that can store either a 1 or 0 value, a quibit can hover between the two, effectively carrying both values. A network featuring quibits could thus carry complex information with an added level of encryption, and do it very, very fast. Of course, a reliable network carrying broader sets of data is still a ways off, but we're getting close. "Everything is at the edge of what can be done," says physicist Stephan Ritter. The question is, once we get a quantum Internet, will the cable guy install it at a greater rate of speed, too?

Physics Nobel Prize 2011 - Brian Schmidt

The Nobel Prize for physics in 2011 was awarded to Brian Schmidt, Adam Riess, and Saul Perlmutter for discovering that the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate. This finding was completely unexpected because it was thought that gravity should slow the expansion of the cosmos. The best current explanation of why the universe is accelerating is that there is some energy tied to empty space which pushes matter apart. This 'Dark Energy' makes up 73% of the universe but is very difficult to detect. Images courtesy of NASA/NASAimages.org and Maritza A. Lara-Lopez

Hyper-Dimensional ET Physics on Mars - 2-Hours

2-Hours - Digitally Restored - Richard Hoagland presents his evidence to the United Nations. In non-technical language, using official NASA photos and stunning computer graphics, Richard Hoagland, as head of an independent Mars investigation team, makes a case for crucial connections between ancient structures on the landscape of the planet Mars, the ruins of ancient civilizations on Earth and a new form of science called Hyper-Dimensional Physics. This presentation was given at the United Nations and filmed in 1992 and to this day remains a vitally important source of research about ancient extraterrestrial artifacts discovered on Mars and the Earth, and the discovery of Hyper-Dimensional Physics encoded within the relationship of these artifacts on Mars, and more importantly the implications of the discovery of Hyper-Dimensional Physics.
