This is the Philippines
This is the Philippines This video is a patchwork of shots I have taken in the Philippines from January to April 2011. I went there to study as an exchange student in Manilla. My stay there allows me to travel in many places like Bohol, Batad, Baguio, Batad, Angeles, the Pinatubo Volcano, Batangas, Cebu and more... I used a Canon 550d with an old lens Takumar 50mm 1.4 and the canon 18-55mm. First time I'm shooting a movie, which isn't as easy as I thought but I tested many things and finally learned a lot! So the result is far to be technically perfect but I have done what I could :D I'll miss the Philippines, the curiosity of their inhabitants, the beauty of the landscapes and my crazy life there. If you want to see more, here is my flickr account where I put some pictures of the Philippines and other countries of Asia I went during my trip : www.flickr.com And my personnal Web Portfolio www.creativegreg.com The music is from the Temper Trap / Sweet disposition Hope you'll enjoy it GregOOs
Lady Gaga's (May 21, 2012) Controversial Manila Philippines Live Concert
Download and watch the Full Concert of Lady Gaga here: bit.ly MANILA — Lady Gaga's Philippine concerts will go ahead as planned, organisers said Sunday, despite a series of protests from Christian groups and calls for the controversial singer to be banned. Allan Florendo, assistant vice president of the sprawling SM Mall of Asia, whose arena will be the venue for the concerts Monday and Tuesday, said they were ready for the thousands of Gaga-fans and even any stray protesters. "We're very ready, security-wise. We have over 300 security personnel which is in addition and coordination with the (local) police. We have at least 100 bouncers in addition to the several ushers and porters," he said. The Asian leg of Lady Gaga's tour has seen various protests, including in Indonesia where her June show has been denied a permit by police amid threats from Islamic hardliners. Almost 500 Christian protesters gathered near the 20000-seat Manila concert venue Sunday, holding lit candles under umbrellas to shield them from the rain. "We are a peace-loving people, our objective is not to make any violence or destruction to get attention," said Orlando Cutaran, head of the Christian Professionals Evangelism Fellowship. "We don't want to interfere in their business. We are just praying on the sides that the organisers will change their minds. "We are just taking a stand against the blasphemous songs and videos of this Lady Gaga. We don't want young people to be influenced by this." Lady ...
Imelda Abano - Environmental Reporting in the Philippines
"What we are trying to do is to explore more strategies on how to improve environmental reporting in the Philippines -- and on how to reach the government and communities as well," said Imelda Abano, president of the Philippine Network of Environmental Journalists, Inc. (PNEJ) and senior correspondent at "Business Mirror," in an interview with ECSP. With an overwhelmingly coastal population of around 95 million, the 7150 island archipelago of the Philippines is seen as highly vulnerable to environmental and climate-related threats. One of Albano's major aims as president of the PNEJ is therefore to "empower local journalists to report more on environmental issues like biodiversity, climate change, disaster, and other environmental challenges in the Philippines," she said. Philippines-China maritime row hurts fishermen
Tensions between China and the Philippines remain high amid a continuing stalemate over the disputed, resource-rich Scarborough Shoal. China has maritime spats with several countries, including the Philippines, in the South China Sea, believed to be rich in oil and gas and crossed by important shipping lanes, and its neighbours fear its growing naval reach in staking claim to a number of disputed areas. Situated between the Philippines and China, Scarborough Shoal has long provided a living for Filipino and Chinese fishermen. The dispute over the group of islands began on April 10 when the Philippine navy accused Chinese ships of fishing there illegally. Since the row started, China's increasing maritime presence in the area has forced many Philippine fishermen to stay at bay, severely reducing their livelihood, in fear of exacerbating tensions. Al Jazeera's Marga Ortigas reports from the west coast of the Philippines.

Nestle Philippines Video: "Water Initiatives of Nestlé Philippines"
Nestlé Philippines, since 2000, has continuously increased production to meet the increasing demand of our products. But despite this increase in production, our water consumption or water withdrawal rate and waste water discharge rates have decreased. Water and the continuous availability of water is crucial for Nestlé Philippines as the raw materials that we purchase need water to survive, we use water to produce our products and our products are consumed with water. Nestlé Philippines consistently works to continue reducing the amount of water used per kilo of food and beverage produced. This video summarizes a number of Nestlé Philippines water efficiency initiatives to further contribute to the preservation of this precious natural resource. It also features Nestlé Philippines' efforts in treating its waste water as well as water education and awareness initiatives conducted for various stakeholders. www.nestle.com.ph http www.facebook.com nestlephilippineschoosewellness.blogspot.com http nestlephilsinthenews.blogspot.com

The Philippines An Inherent Part of China's Sovereign Territory
China Central Television (CCTV) news anchor declares that the Philippines is an inherent part of China's sovereign territory at 1:35 . An anchor on China's state-run television network has accidentally declared the Philippines a part of China, in an embarrassing gaffe as tensions between the two nations run high. He Jia, anchor for China Central Television's (CCTV) nationally televised news broadcast, made the claim during a late Monday broadcast that has been repeatedly replayed on the Internet. The presenter apparently meant to say that the Huangyan islands -- known in the Philippines as the Scarborough Shoal, and claimed by both nations -- is China's territory. "We all know that the Philippines is China's inherent territory and the Philippines belongs to Chinese sovereignty, this is an indisputable fact," He said in the broadcast, which has since disappeared from the CCTV website but is available elsewhere on the web. Viewers joked in online postings that the presenter's nationalistic fervour led to her mistake. "This anchor woman is great, a good patriot, she has announced to the world the Philippines belongs to China," said a microblogger named helenjhuang. "We should attack directly, send (Philippine President Benigno) Aquino packing and take back our inherent territory." Another microblogger named kongdehua said, "the Philippines have basically been making irrational trouble, if they want to start a war then we will strike, no one fears them. "If every Chinese spat ...

Philippines Sex District Photo Gets Wiener In Trouble
Via Talking Points Memo: "You probably have never heard of New Mexico politician Michael Wiener. Neither had a Seattle photographer when he ran into him one night last month in a Philippines sex district. Wiener was spending time in the Angeles City red light district when he apparently stopped a photographer on the street to take a picture of him posing with a quartet of scantily clad women in an area well known as a hub of prostitution. It turned out, however, the photographer was not just some American tourist taking in the sights. He was a professional photographer named John Keatley, who was in the country documenting the sex tourism industry...".* Ana Kasparian and Ben Mankiewicz discuss on The Young Turks. *Read more from Nick R.
