After sustaining a spinal cord injury that most doctors believed would render him motionless for life, this amazing 17-year old uplifts us all with a talk on how to continue following one's dream against all odds. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

August 20th 2009 was the first time Ricochet surfed with Patrick Ivison, a 16 year old boy with C4-5 spinal cord injury. 2 years later she has surfed with a number of surfers with disabilities, including Jo who lost her leg to cancer, and Sabine who was born without arms. Ricochet helps to counter-balance and stabilize the board. She's the only known dog in the world that surfs with special needs kids & people with disabilities for therapeutic purposes. She adapts her surfing style to their disability.
