"Big Country" Bryant Reeves, Randy Rutherford and Brooks Thompson accounted for 71 of the Cowboys' 86 points. In addition to their scoring totals, Reeves grabbed 8 rebounds, Rutherford had 6 rebounds and went 8-10 from 3-point range, and Thompson had 7 assists and 5 rebounds.

The Cowboys were coached by the legendary Eddie Sutton, and led by OSU's all-time assists leader Doug Gottlieb and the sensational human highlight reel, Desmond Mason. Also on the 98-99 Cowboy team were several fan favorites, such as Fredrik "Fred" Jonzen and Joe Adkins. The Pokes went 23-11 during the season, including a run to the Big 12 Tournament championship game in Kansas City, and a second-round appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Oklahoma State vs. Missouri - 2001 Basketball
Nine days after a tragic plane crash took the lives of ten members of the Oklahoma State family, basketball returned to Gallagher-Iba Arena as the Oklahoma State Cowboys hosted the Missouri Tigers. When the game was over and his Oklahoma State basketball team had beaten Missouri, coach Eddie Sutton couldn't help himself. He cried. "This game was one of the most important games I've ever coached in," said Sutton, who has coached 935 games in 31 years. "It would have been devastating not to win. "It's a very, very important win for Oklahoma State University. It's important because it continues this healing process that all of us are going through." Spurred throughout by a boisterous crowd, the Cowboys used a second-half run to take the lead and held on at the end. Fredrik Jonzen tied a career best with 26 points, Maurice Baker had 22 and Andre Williams had 15 rebounds and four blocks.

Down 71-60 with 2-1/2 minutes remaining in regulation, it appeared that the Cowboys would suffer their first loss of the young season. Jean-Paul Olukemi was fouled and scored both free throws to cut the lead to single digits. After three-consecutive possessions resulted in turnovers, Reger Dowell hit a three pointer, cutting the lead to six at 71-65. Michael Hale, who had a team-high 26 points for UTSA, hit 1-of-2 from the line. Olukemi was fouled again, and hit both shots from the stripe to cut it to five. Mario Boggan set career highs with 37 points and 20 rebounds and hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 3.2 seconds left in the third overtime to lift No. 12 Oklahoma State to a 105-103 victory over No. 21 Texas in this 2007 instant classic at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Kevin Durant, the Big 12's leading scorer and rebounder, put Texas on top with a three-point play with 10.5 seconds left, but there was still time for Boggan. He took the ensuing inbounds pass near midcourt and fought through defenders to launch a 3 from the left wing. He fell to the floor and was joined by celebrating teammates after Texas' AJ Abrams was called for traveling with 0.2 seconds left to clinch the win for the Cowboys. JamesOn Curry added 28 points and nine rebounds, Terrel Harris scored 16 points and Byron Eaton had 11 for Oklahoma State (16-2, 2-1 Big 12), which also won a double-overtime game against Pittsburgh earlier this season. Markel Brown of the Oklahoma State Cowboys added another energizing play with a right-handed dunk off an alley-oop but got called for his second technical foul for getting in Matt Pressey's face and was ejected. Brown provided a boost right from the start with a thunderous right-handed jam on Oklahoma State's first possession after winning the tip. He picked up a technical foul 90 seconds into the game that seemed inconsequential at the time but eventually led to his dismissal. Nash scored a career-high 27 points, Brian Williams added a career-best 22 and Oklahoma State knocked off No. 2 Missouri 79-72 on Wednesday night, handing the Tigers their second loss of the season.

2010-2011 Big 12 Women's Basketball Preseason Poll
Leading this year's Big 12 preseason poll for women's basketball is the Baylor Lady Bears. The team returns 4 starters from last year's Final Four squad -- and over 80% of its scoring and rebounding. The Bears are led by sophomore phenom forward Brittney Griner and guard Melissa Jones. New to the squad --- preseason All-Big 12 newcomer of the year Brooklyn Pope and All-Big 12 Freshman of the year Odyssey Sims. Second in this year's preseason poll is Texas A&M. The Aggies return three starters from last season's squad that finished the season with a 26-8 overall record and its fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. With preseason All-American Danielle Adams back for her senior season, A&M is expected to be strong. Third in this year's preseason poll is Oklahoma. The Sooners finished 2009 ranked 3rd nationally after making the Final Four for the 2nd year in a row. OU returns senior guard Danielle Robinson, who led the Sooners last year with more than 15 points per game. Nominated for numerous All-America honors last season, Robinson should anchor an OU team hungry for continued success. Let's take a look at the rest of the Big 12 preseason poll...
