Snubbed 2012 - An Oscar Tribute

www.joblo.com - Snubbed 2012 - An Oscar Tribute There were so many amazing films that released in 2011 that really didn't get the recognition they deserved in certain aspects of film-making. And with the Oscars officially kicking off soon, we decided to put together a special tribute dedicated to the critically-acclaimed movies of last year that were unfortunately snubbed in particular categories and the people who were involved. The films in the list include Drive, Shame, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, Hanna, Attack The Block, Red State, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Super 8 and many more. Note: The music track used is: Letting Go - "Super 8" A congratulations to all of this year's Oscar nominees. 2012 Oscar Highlights: The Best Moments!

"The Artist" was the big winner at the 84th annual Academy Awards, taking home Oscars for best picture, best director and its star Jean Dujardin... In the best actress race, considered by many to be the biggest tossup of the night, Meryl Streep won over Viola Davis for her portrayal of former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady." "When they called my mind I had this feeling that I could hear half of America going 'Oh, no. Why her, again?' But, whatever," said Streep after winning her third Oscar, though she's been nominated 17 times -- the most of any actor. See photos of stars on the red carpet In an emotional speech, Streep thanked her husband for "everything I value most in my life" and her makeup artist Roy Helland, who has been with her since the start of her career and won his first Oscar Sunday night for "The Iron Lady." Bringing tears to the eyes of many in the audience, Streep said she values most the friendship of the people sitting before her. "I look out here and I see my life before my eyes -- my old friends and my new friends." Dujardin also thanked the new friends he's made in America since "The Artist." "I love your country," Dujardin said, accepting his trophy and doing a little soft shoe as he exited the stage. READ MORE: abcnews.go.com "coming soon!" : www.youtube.com

euronews cinema - Oscar the orphan chimp gets his name in lights

www.euronews.com A young chimp is the star of the latest movie from the world's top wildlife documentary film-maker Alastair Fothergill. 'Chimpanzee' was made in the forests of Ivory Coast and follows the ups and downs in the life of Oscar the orphan in his formative years. Fothergill's credentials are impeccable, having produced several multi award-winning nature series for the BBC in the UK. Now he takes six months sabbatical each year to work on his own projects, and 'Chimpanzee' is the result. It takes a different approach from other documentaries. This movie is about telling a story with the animals. Fothergill explained: "We start with him, he's six weeks old, and follow him for the three most extraordinary years of his life. A terrible tragedy happens halfway through the film because his mother is killed by a leopard, but then something even more extraordinary happens and our film does have a happy ending." Some of the first week's takings in the US are being donated to the Jane Goodall Institute to promote chimpanzee conservation. She is considered to be the world's foremost expert on chimps after spending 45 years studying them in the wild in Tanzania. After watching the film she said: "I was blown away. It is, without exception, easily the best film on chimpanzees I've ever seen, probably the best on any animal. And you know that's partly because of the extraordinary cinematography and not just of the chimpanzees, which is incredible, but also the fantastic ...
