We've filmed the Columbia River Gorge, Mt Hood, Mt Jefferson, the Southwestern Coast, the Alvord Desert, Leslie Gulch, Blue Mountains, Crater Lake, Eagle Cap Wilderness, Deschutes River, and more. We're proud to have touched all four corners of the state; however Oregon is the kind of place that the more you see, the more places there are to still discover. The greatest challenge with this project was being in the right place at the right time. Night timelapse sequences particularly have an unexpected number of requirements to get the bright, stunning payoff. First, the moon should be around the New Moon phase (no moon) so as not to compete with outshining the stars, so that means we get about 5 days a month window. Next, weather must be cooperative with a dependable expectancy of cloudless skies. Here in Oregon, only the Summer months have good chance of clear skies, so only 1/4 of the year offers good chance of clear skies. So that means, we have three months in the year, with a 5 day window each month to plan with fingers crossed for epic star shooting conditions. That's only 15 days in a year. Then, you hope that something doesn't come up ...
Stopped for Open Carry in Eugene Oregon
I don't often go downtown, but I always open carry, just to be clear. thehossusmc.com Oregon is an Open carry state but a few cities have laws that require a CHL to carry. Eugene is not one of those cities. Since I was not breaking any law with open carry then the police had no probable cause to force identification.

Oregon Ducks Give Spring Game Uniforms to The Troops
The 2012 Spring Game attracted a record crowd of 44129 fans who came out to support their Ducks and the troops. A post-game ceremony joined 100 military personnel with members of the Oregon Football team who exchanged jerseys and military challenge coins.

Daniel Wu visits the University of Oregon
Chinese film star Daniel Wu (UO class of 1997) visited his alma mater this April. The Hong Kong actor, producer, and director was in Eugene screening "Overhead 2" for the CINEMA PACIFIC Film Festival. The son of immigrants from Shanghai, Wu grew up in California and studied architecture at the UO. Wu started the University of Oregon Wushu Club in 1994. After earning his degree in 1997, Wu traveled to Hong Kong, where he began his acting career.

This is the 3rd morning in a row at roughly 3:00 am. The sound starts with a rumbling in the ground, and then the sound continues for roughly 30 minutes or so. Can not explain where it is coming from, it seems as if it is coming strait from the sky with not a single plane in sight. If anyone has anymore info. on this sound we are hearing, I would very much appreciate any explanation to what we are experiencing here in Oregon.

Spectacular UFO flyover Oregon
(© whotookmymojo 2012) There was heavy cloud cover tonight but in one location above there was a wide gap of open clear sky. I was about to continue on to the normal sighting spot but took another few seconds to peer in the opening and that's when the object moved into view. The gear was quickly unpacked and the cam was powered up as the object came overhead. It moves left to right and appears to slow in speed before moving out of view. A friend did an analysis on a screen capture and shows a definite triangle shape. SRT USA #75 dominates Oregon Trail Rally for 2nd year in a row
The storyline and the results of the 2012 Oregon Trail Rally mimicked the 2011 edition of the event with Subaru Rally Team USA's David Higgins again leading from the start and pulling away for victory. The win, his fourth Oregon Trail Rally career victory, vaults Higgins even farther out of reach of his rivals in the points standings as he seeks to defend his 2011 Rally America Championship title. Higgins and his co-driver Craig Drew kept their mettle while at the wheel of their BFGoodrich Tires-shod 2012 Subaru WRX STI after their closest challenger dropped out of the event and Higgins ran nearly unchallenged for a large portion of the event. Higgins' dominating win at Oregon had its only hiccup early on the second day as he slid off a slippery, rain soaked, corner at high speed. The #75 Subaru WRX STI literally bounced back on the road but the encounter with the scenery inflicted moderate damage to the suspension along with mild body damage. Higgins was able to drive back to the subsequent scheduled service and a quick repair from his service crew put his STI back on the charge. "This is a big win for us and gives us a really firm grip on the championship," explained Higgins. "We took maximum points and Antoine [L'Estage], our closest rival, did not finish, so it couldn't have gone any better really. Our Subaru was just perfect, it's so well suited for these conditions and really proved this weekend to be equally as tough too."

Lion Tries to Eat Baby at Oregon Zoo - CNN
A lion at the Oregon Zoo apparently thought a little boy sitting outside of the exhibit would make a delicious treat. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that the baby was wearing a black-and-white striped outfit. "We didn't even notice he looked like a zebra until someone told us that on Facebook," the child's mother, Heather Baltzor, told CNN affiliate KTVZ. "He looked like a tasty baby zebra." No matter how much the lion pawed or lunged at the little guy, thick protective glass kept him safe. The child barely noticed what was happening. His mother says he was never frightened. Zoo workers say lions often interact with young visitors and the glass barrier keeps them safe.
