In the capital of Portugal, Lisbon's hilly old town is wonderful to explore on its historic trams, the Electricos, a living museum that soon changed the travel routine of Lisbon's population. In August 1901, the Electricos were introduced and the first electric line was inaugurated. Little has changed since that time and the original rolling stock has been in use to the present day, the electric motors and magnetic brakes of the small twin-axel 'carros' providing amazing acceleration and excellent brakes. The Se Patriarcal Cathedral dates back to the 12th century when it was constructed on the site of a mosque at the command of Portugal's first king, Alfonso Henriques. Within its inner courtyard, there is a unique Roman iron balustrade and the remains of columns that contain ornate reliefs. Excavations in the courtyard reveal the remains of walls that date from Phoenician and Roman times. The Moorish knights' castle, the Castelo de Sao Jorge, is located above the Baixa district. In 1300, the 110 metre high castle mound was transformed into a royal palace in which, up to 1511, the kings of Portugal resided. As the journey continues, most of the carriages groan and rattle through the alleys, shake and clatter on the bends, and inch by inch, stagger up the hills in streets so narrow that the houses appear to touch each other. The village of Spitz lies in the heart of the Wachau and is closely associated with steam navigation that was first used on the Danube in 1829. BERGENSBANEN Exciting Train Journey From Oslo to Bergen
The fascinating journey on the famous Bergensbanen begins in Norway�s capital city of Oslo, which contains a large variety of interesting historic buildings that are well worth a visit. Indeed, the city originated in the middle of the 11th century during the reign of King Harald Hardrade. For almost a century, Norway was part of Sweden and in 1905, a referendum put an end to its unpopular union and Norway achieved its Independence. The construction of the railroad posed a major challenge for the engineers of that time and its construction took many years. The first section of today�s Bergensbanen was completed in 1883 and extended from Bergen to Voss. On its journey to Bergen, the Bergensbanen travels across the highest plateau in Europe, the 8000 square kilometre, Hardangervidda. At 1222 metres above sea level, Finse Tunnel is the Bergensbanen�s highest station and was opened in 1909, when Norway�s King Hakon was one of the first passengers to travel on the new railroad. The journey on the Bergensbanen not only travels through one of the most charming and natural landscapes in Europe, it also features the history of Norway: a unique adventure indeed!

The Royal Caribbean's gigantic cruise ship, Voyager of the Seas, is a technical wonder of modern times and also the largest ocean-going cruise ship in the world, a floating hotel complex that accommodates 5000 passengers. The pulsating heart of the ship is the 120 metre long Royal Promenade, a replica London's Burlington Arcade, which boasts a splendid variety of shops. On decks 11 and 12, the popular Fitness Centre is the largest on the seven seas. Particularly fascinating is the successful integration of three restaurants on three decks, an idea copied from the interior of the Paris Opera House. But the most unexpected attraction is an Ice Rink that is also used for International Ice Revues. The enormous atrium, with all of its glittering structures of chrome and glass, is like a futuristic work of art. There's even a casino which features Black Jack, roulette, dice, video poker and one-armed bandits and where those who are really lucky, may even win back the cost of their holiday. With stopovers in Haiti, Jamaica and Cozumel, off the coast of Mexico, a Sunday afternoon cruise on the ocean was never like this!

Jasper, a small, quaint Canadian village is the starting point for a 230-kilometre journey on the Icefields Parkway, the 'Dream Road of the Rockies.' The Rockies are the eastern range of the North American mountain range and extend through Canada for 1200 kilometres. The Jasper Tramway is Canada's longest and highest cable car and travels up Whistler Mountain into a world of stunning mountain scenery, not to mention the Jasper National Park, which is the largest and most northerly mountain park in Canada. The Columbia Icefield contains around 30 glaciers and is the largest ice mass in the Rockies. Traveling by snow coach, the stunning scenic splendor of the glaciers and the shining sky are in wonderful contrast to the icy light blue depths of the abyss. After raging waterfalls and frozen ice fields, the journey moves on to tranquil lakes, a vast area where man is only a visitor and nature belongs to the deer, grizzly bears, elk and birds of prey of this region. From the top of Mount Whitehorn, there are magnificent views across the white peaks of Bow Range and down into the deep valley that contains Moraine Lake. The Canadian Rockies are a natural world that stretches across high mountains, captivating valleys and huge national parks.

A very special train journey begins in Toronto and travels a distance of 4500 kilometres to Vancouver. The three day journey promises discovery, adventure and momentous nature as well as lively modern cities and time-honored traditions. In Toronto, the CN Tower is the highest freestanding building in the world and provides a thrilling view across the city. When the weather is good, it's possible to see as far as 120 km to the distant haze of Niagara Falls. The Skydome is located next to the CN Tower and is a multifunctional sports arena with enormous proportions that has an extendable dome under which many types of sports events and concerts take place. We begin our journey across Mato Grosso in Cuibaba, its capital, the first impression of which is of a modern city. The old town has retained the character of old with narrow lanes, and small, colourful buildings. The former gold prospector's town that was established around the spring of Corrego da Prainha Creek, has been transformed into a lively city. The Chapada dos Guimaraes National Park was founded in 1989 and features steep-sloped table mountains. It is Brazil's Wild West whose earthiness and mystical scenery curls around the geodetic centre of South America. The park is a universe of waterfalls, caves, mountain peaks and magnificent views plus rock, fashioned by the elements. In recent years, more than fifty archaeological sites have been discovered, with rock paintings and prehistoric fossils. The Pantanal is located within the watery lowlands and is the South American continent's largest wildlife paradise covering an area half the size of Germany. LIJIANG RIVER CRUISE Inscrutable Magnificence Of Glorious China
Yagdi, in the south of China, is the starting point for a journey on the Lijiang River. Like a green silk ribbon, the river winds 83 kilometres through lush countryside from which unusual cone-shaped mountains suddenly appear from the plains. The view scans across to Pagoda Mountain, lingers for a moment on Hole Mountain, and then moves across to Picture Mountain. Without warning, the vase-shaped cliffs and green rocks of the radiant Lotus Summit come into view. In the foreground, there are light green rice fields, extensive bamboo groves and lush orange plantations. During their lunch break, women sit at their noisy sewing machines while the men enjoy smoking their pipes. An idyllic, picturesque landscape in which the hands of time tick slowly by. Finally, Yangshou, in which numerous takeaways tempt with exotic delicacies and where, outside each establishment, pots and cages indicate what's on the menu! In spite of their arduous rural life, the local people are happy and contented, a feeling also experienced by those who visit this amazing region.

ATACAMA DESERT ROUTE
The Ruta Del Desierto Atacama passes through remote landscapes in the north of Chile. Through small villages and rocky coasts to salt lakes, volcanoes and geysers. It is a journey as though to the end of the world. We begin our journey in the desert town of Calama which means, Yellow Land, but it also contains many green spots. The reason why the first men settled with their families in this hostile area was due to the opening of a copper mine in November 1911. The mining company had fine residential areas built, along with parks and recreation areas, yet during the day it is windy, dusty and very hot in the streets that are lined with simple, low-built houses. Chuquicamata is the biggest open cast copper pit in the world. The pride of the entire country, it is a huge hole in the ground. On numerous terraces and at an altitude of about three thousand metres, day and night rock is blasted out of the ground. The Atacama Desert contains salt water lakes, desert mountain areas and endless fields of sand dunes and stone. It extends between the Pacific Ocean and the Cordilleras, an area of stone and sand that is perforated only by various frequently dried out salt lakes. The Valle De La Luna is particularly impressive. In primeval times it was a lake whose bed was elevated and developed due to tectonic activity. Erosion, strong winds, extreme sunshine and changes in temperature formed this rocky, almost completely lifeless, landscape. The Ruta Del Desierto Atacama is a journey ...

Winter Dew Tour - Torstein Horgmo Finishes 3rd, Wins the Slopestyle Championship - Snowbasin 2011
Norwegian slope master Torstein Horgmo won the first two stops of the Winter Dew Tour, and with his overall lead coming into the Toyota Championships he was nearly guaranteed a Dew Cup. All he needed was fifth or better, but for a while it looked like he was going home empty-handed after the first round finished with him in 10th place after a sketched landing on a cab 10 double off the second jump. With Torstein the last rider to drop, he threw down hard with perfect style on the rail and a cab double 10 to a switch backside 12 on the last two jumps. He got the job done and scored a 93.75 to land in third on the podium and take home the first Dew Cup of his career.
