On The Money: Oil & Growth

This year has started out with a macro-driven wave of global optimism leading to a rally on financial markets. Because Russia is linked to the rest of the world via external trade and capital flows, global improvement supports Russia's economy and creates upside risks for the country's 2012 macroeconomic forecast. However, a couple of months of positive statistics are not enough to form a stable recovery trend. While the US seems to be on the way to a genuine recovery, the situation in Europe remains complicated. Where will the oil price go? Commodities Expert: Oil scarcity not speculation driving up prices

He's asking Congress to empower the CFTC to raise margin requirements for traders' oil positions and raise penalties for market manipulation. We have some proposals of our own. How about getting the cops already on the beat to enforce rules on the books, which appeared majorly lacking in the MF Global bankruptcy for example? Petrol Panic: UK tanks hit by Iran oil ban backfire

The UN nuclear watchdog says its two-day mission in Iran has failed to produce a definitive result in clarifying the purpose of Tehran's controversial nuclear programme. The IAEA adds that this is due to its team not being allowed to visit a key military site. Tehran - which insists its activities are purely peaceful - in turn says the agency's second visit in less than a month was for talks and not inspections. The Islamic state has also reiterated its readiness to return to the negotiating table. The failure of the IAEA mission might pave the way for more sanctions against Tehran - but previous experience shows that such penalties often end up hurting the countries imposing them, as RT's Ivor Bennet reports. Fake Withdrawal? 'US won't leave Iraq oil to Iran'

Despite the US's declared withdrawal of its military personnel and contractors out of Iraq, Washington has prepared to control the country's rich oil reserves in any case, shared Ranjit Singh Kalha, former India's ambassador to Iraq in the 1990s. Having spent $3 trillion in Iraq, a country with harsh weather conditions (+50 C most of the time) and absolutely nothing valuable but oil reserves, the Americans simply cannot give up the plentiful and very high quality oil they went there for. "It takes $1.50 to take out this oil that's just below the surface. Anybody who has access to this oil can be a game changer -- as far as the politics of oil is concerned," Ranjit Singh Kalha concluded. The problem Americans encountered in Iraq is that once given "some symbols" of democracy, the Iraqi voted for a Shia-led government. The headache is that the Shia traditionally have close links with Iran, the core territory of this affiliation. "That is the present dilemma. If you withdraw from Iraq completely, you leave this vast oil wealth of Iraq in the hands of Shia (Iran-oriented) government. And therefore it upsets the political balance in the Middle East," Ranjit Singh Kalha explained. He said that to counter such adverse developments the US will have almost 20000-strong embassy in Baghdad (the largest US embassy in the world) and consulates in Basra, Kerkuk and in northern Kurd-inhabited territory, each consulate 1000-strong. "Americans cannot afford to be completely absent from ...

23.4.2012 - 1/4 - Oil SecretsCreativity

Oil Secrets: In the first half of Monday's show, author Dr. Jerome Corsi discussed how Nazi chemists developed a series of equations during WWII which demonstrated that oil can be formed synthetically. Known as the Fischer-Tropsch equations, they indicated that the mixture of hydrogen and carbon with various catalysts under intense pressure and heat, produced hydrocarbons-- such as what is made in the mantle of the Earth on an ongoing basis, he explained. It doesn't take dead plants or animals, dinosaurs, plankton, algae or former living matter to produce oil, and the Nazis understood this, he continued, adding that some of their scientists were brought over to the US during Operation Paperclip to continue their research after the war. However, documents of their research into Fischer-Tropsch were largely lost or hidden, said Corsi, who suggested that the US government and Big Oil conspired to bury their findings because they didn't want the public to know that the planet naturally produces oil, abundantly on a deep earth level. The science of abiotic oil continues to be suppressed and ridiculed, while the "fossil fuel" explanation for oil persists. He pointed out that a fossil is not the animal or plant itself, but the structure of the animal or plant typically filled in by various minerals that have hardened into stone over the ages. Corsi reported that the Russians have long been aware of the Fischer-Tropsch process, and this may be why their country has become one of ...
