NYC Halloween Weekend Historic Snow Storm- October 29th, 2011
What a storm this was! And what's more, it was an historic one. This storm brought with it the most snow the NYC area has ever seen in October. What a way to start the season, and technically...we're not even IN the season yet. Summer ended only a little over a month ago! And I have to say, I payed a big price shooting it today. My so called "waterproof" boots weren't quite waterproof and I can honestly say that these shooting conditions were the worst that I have ever experienced. Cold and miserable the entire time. Wet feet for hours on end which is about as miserable as it gets lol. But, what can you do, right? Another hazard I experienced today were huge chunks of heavy wet snow falling from the skyscrapers along Broadway in Manhattan! One huge chunk got me directly in the head, and another bigger chunk missed me by mear inches. Thankfully, I didn't get anything more than a slight bump on the head. Hope you enjoy the video! This is what I was subjected to on the train (9:30PM - Wednesday, 11 May 2011) #5 Train I first posted this on my FB profile and asked my friends to help me come up with a unique title for YouTube Therefore, the name is a collective combination of their suggestion... I wanted to go with ((("Authentic Cunnilingus Shoe Wash... [Spit & Span]"))) -- but it would be too complicated to remember :(... :::The Shoe Licker Poem::: So there I was, minding my own business, in my seat on the train. Reading ads that zoomed by and passively listening to the repetitive announcements again. When I noticed the guy across from me, laughing awkwardly, and staring down yonder. WTH could it be, I wonder. So, I proceeded to follow his eye's path and was amazed at what I saw. There it was, in plain sight, was a man sitting quietly next to the middle door. Ferociously polishing his Sunday's best, like nothing was wrong. Dumbfounded when he took off his shoes and began washing it with his tongue. A wise and clever passenger, could not think it unfair. For me to take out my camera and start recording right there. And that's exactly what I did. It surely served him right. You can't expect to spit and clean that shoe. And don't expect a small red light. So I created a new YouTube account in hopes of this becoming a cool summer side project and onward as to how well it takes off... Go on, have a look and EAT your heart out ;)

This is a film I made after some adventures underground with Steve Duncan (undercity.org) last summer. We also have a teaser video which you can watch on my vimeo page (vimeo.com/5752275). Steve and I just completed another underground expedition with Norwegian explorer Erling Kagge (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erling_Kagge). It was featured in a three page article on the front page of the NY Times metro section and was written by Alan Feuer (nytimes.com/2011/01/02/nyregion/02underground.html). We were also covered by NPR's Jacki Lyden who's report will be aired on 1/2/11 and posted on NPR's site. Shot on a canon 5d mkii with canon 24 f/1.4 (version 1) with the zacuto rapid fire, Zoom H4N and a sennheiser g2 wireless lav.
