THE CALIBRE of person to run 10km through Joburg's downtown last night were not going to be deterred by a sprinkle of rain and a little thunder in the distance. Ten thousand runners donning fluorescent yellow T-shirts lined up on the Braamfontien side of Mandela Bridge to run the Run Free Run Jozi race. It was cold but the adrenaline and base vibrations for the blaring dance music kept us warm. There was a tingling nervousness in the air as we sang the national anthem before the horn went of. Usually at the start line old hacks brag about how difficult previous year's runs were. This time was silence. For no one jogs through Joburg in the dead of the night, let alone 10 kilometres. It was new terrain to all of us. As the horn went of signalling the start, so did fireworks, lighting up the night's sky as we trotted across the Mandela bridge. Nelson Mandela wouldn't be the last struggle hero we would incur during the night. On Commissioner Street, people cheered and cheered in an array of African vernacular. Even big knurly men came out to street corners in the pyjamas to wave. The train of yellow t-shirts snaked through the city, passing City Hall, Luthuli House, the old prison which is now Constitution Hill, and the Jeppe police station; all equally ingrained in our country's heritage. The was a huge welcome of people as we cantered past the civic centre with Vuvuzelas echoing from flat windows. On the back of each runners' t-shirt were nicknames. Everyone was on a first ...

Here's the latest of the nike free run line. Once again a great shoe with an emphasis on comfort and barefoot like flexibility. My one major complaint is the lack of a one piece construction, since the tongue tends to move and cause slight discomfort when running Comfort- 9/10 Traction- 7/10 Weight- 10/10 Durability-7/10
