Night Vision versus Thermal Imaging
Describes advantages and disadvantages of night vision technologies Night vision goggles and scopes make images from visible light, just like your eyes. So, their familiar green-cast images provide excellent situational awareness at night. Unfortunately, magnifying the amount of light in an image is only part of the solution to true night vision. The critical element they don't address is visible image contrast. That's what you really need to be able to see at night. When a target is brighter than its surroundings it has good visual contrast, and is easy to see. When a target doesn't have good visual contrast you can't distinguish it from its surroundings. No night vision scope can reveal contrast that's just not there. Thermal cameras see heat, not light. The more heat an object gives off the more thermal contrast it generates, and the easier it is to see. Everything on Earth gives off heat, and things like people, animals, and car engines lots of heat. So their easy to see, even through camouflage. Atmospheric conditions, like smoke, rain, or fog, reflect light, making night vision goggles and scopes even less effective. But thermal cameras see through these obscurants and clearly. Night vision goggles and scopes also need to have the right amount of light to work well. If light levels are too low, like in rural areas and when looking into deep shadows, they won't be able to see anything. In this mode it is the super sensitivity of the special low lux CCD alone that brightens the image and makes the whole scene much brighter. The second mode is the infra red night vision mode which can be used at zero light levels. In this mode, the camera's focussed infra-red LED uses invisible infra-red light to illuminate the subject, light which is then detected by the night visions CCD and used to make subjects clearly visible even in total darkness, in just the same way that night vision systems used by professional surveillance teams and the military work.

The culprit is my little kitten called Bugsy who I actually call Baby (because he so small compared to my other cat Charlie). He came to me from the RSPCA and really needs attention in the middle of the night! His favourite thing is 'kneading' any bit of skin he can find, although his favourite place to do it in on my neck - which hurts like hell! The idea for Anaheim's ride originated in the mid 1960s, during Walt Disney's lifetime, as a way to energize the aging Tomorrowland. The project was shelved until the success of Space Mountain in Florida. After two years of construction, the $20 million complex opened May 27 including the roller coaster, 1100-seat Space Stage, 670-seat Space Place (fast food restaurant) and Starcade.[2] Six Mercury astronauts attended Space Mountain's opening — Scott Carpenter, Gordon Cooper, Sen. John Glenn, Wally Schirra, Alan Shepard, and Deke Slayton.[1] Largely due in part to the opening of Space Mountain, the Memorial Day day attendance record was set, with 185500 guests over the three-day period.[2] Space Mountain at Disneyland was designed by Bill Watkins of Walt Disney Imagineering. It was different from the WDW design because of space limitations. The attraction continued operating without much change: sponsors would come and go, and various minor changes, including the addition of a "Speedramp" (moving sidewalk) in the entrance, happened without fanfare.
