A loud boom or boomS (or perhaps just one boom and some echoes) were heard and rumbling felt by several people around the area of Washoe County, NV at approximately 8:00 AM (7:50 by most witness reports) on April 22, 2012. No earthquakes were reported by USGS for that location and time. Media says that scientists are going with the "meteor" explanation. A meteor was indeed seen around the same time, but its fishy as to whether or not it is truly related to the persistent rumbling, which we hear an officer make mention of in this scanner audio. DemocracyNow.org - Journalist Seymour Hersh has revealed that the Bush administration secretly trained an Iranian opposition group on the State Department's list of foreign terrorists. Hersh reports the US Joint Special Operations Command trained operatives from Mujahideen-e-Khalq, or MEK, at a secret site in Nevada beginning in 2005. According to Hersh, MEK members were trained in intercepting communications, cryptography, weaponry and small unit tactics at the Nevada site up until President Obama took office. The MEK has been listed as a foreign terrorist groups since 1997 and is linked to a number of attacks, spanning from the murders of six US citizens in the 1970s to the recent wave of assassinations targeting Iranian nuclear scientists. Hersh also discusses the role of Israeli intelligence and notes the Obama administration knew about the training, "because they have access to what was going on in the previous administration in this area, in terms of the MEK, in terms of operations inside Iran." His new report for The New Yorker blog, "Our Men in Iran?," comes as nuclear talks are set to resume this week between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency. The Republican presidential candidates will confront one of the country's more divided electorates in Nevada's Saturday caucus. The state's Ron Paul faction is particularly powerful--it took over the state GOP convention in Reno four years ago and helped get archconservative Sharron Angle to face Harry Reid in his successful re-election bid in 2010. That helped splinter the GOP in the state, with many Republicans now so far apart that getting them to fall behind an eventual presidential nominee is likely to be difficult. Jim Carlton has details on The News Hub.

The sound of the explosion around 8 am prompted a flood of calls to law enforcement agencies on both sides of the Sierra Nevada in the two states. The explosion rattled windows and shook houses from Reno to Winnemucca in Nevada, and from the Sacramento to Bakersfield areas in California. Some people in the two states reported seeing a fireball streak across the sky at the same time. Dan Ruby of the Fleischmann Planetarium at the University of Nevada, Reno, says the reports indicate the meteor broke up above Earth somewhere over the Sierra southwest of Reno. There were no reports of earthquakes at the time.

Nevada Caucus Feb 4 2012 Entrance Poll Data. Ron Paul had tied Newt Gingrich for second place in the Nevada Caucus and has indeed picked up a few delegates. Gingrich will also share some of the delegates handed out in the Nevada Caucus. Mitt Romney won support among the Mormon community and will win most of the Nevada Republican Caucus. CPCTCSS polled outside of the convention center in Las Vegas where several of the district caucuses where being held at the same time. This data will not support the actual vote count. Here is why: Some People Were Turned Away From Voting The Government has put several districts in one location making fraud more difficult to find and harder to prove than in Iowa. Some people have been confused about the process and were not able to cast their vote properly and therefore their vote will be thrown out. The race to determine which Republican will challenge US President Barack Obama in November has reached Nevada, the fifth state in the marathon contest and the first in the country's west. In towns like Republican-leaning Pahrump, residents say they still lack jobs and fear the "socialism" they see Obama as pushing. There is also a potential advantage for candidate Mitt Romney, with roughly one in ten Nevadans sharing the former Massachusetts governor's Mormon faith. But analysts say Nevada's population is becoming less white and that an influx of Latinos means its sympathies could be turning Democratic. Al Jazeera's Rob Reynolds reports from Pahrump.

Romney Passing Out FAKE Ron Paul Slates At Nevada Republican Convention May 6, 2012
Ron Paul supporters trumped presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney in Nevada's delegate count, taking 22 delegates to the GOP national convention in August. Romney got 3. The results were certified Sunday as the state Republican convention slogged into a second day. Romney won Nevada's caucus in February with half of the vote. Under party rules adopted last fall, Romney was to get 20 of Nevada's 28 delegates for the national convention, and Paul was to get eight. Paul backers say delegates will abide by those rules in the first round of balloting at the national convention in Tampa. "Rachel, NV (FOX5) - About two hours north of Las Vegas is State Highway 375, also known as the Extraterrestrial Highway. The only town on the road is Rachel, Nevada. For the past twenty years Pat Travis and now her daughter Connie West have been running the only business there, the Little A'Le'Inn. "The UFO activity started within the first year that we were here," Travis told FOX5. As popular culture's interest in UFOs faded so did visitors to the area. But now a different type of visitor is coming. "There not coming out here because of UFOs or Area 51 or the Little A'Le'Inn," said West. Instead tourists have returned to Rachel to probe for something else, which has them looking at the ground, not the sky. "Geocaching is our primary venture, what we came out here to do," said Scott Fee, a geocacher from Alabama. Dozens more were injured when the World War Two-era plane slammed into a box-seat area in front of the main grandstand. The injured have been rushed to hospital. Out of 56 people hurt, 15 are said to be in a critical condition. Mike Houghton, president and CEO of the Reno Air Races, told a news conference that pilot Jimmy Leeward had died in the crash, Associated Press reports. The 74-year-old veteran Hollywood stunt pilot was the owner of the Leeward Air Ranch Racing Team and a well-known racing pilot. Leeward's "Galloping Ghost" plane was a P-51 Mustang fighter -- a class of plane that can fly at speeds in excess of 500 mph (800kph). Houghton said there appeared to be a "problem with the aircraft that caused it to go out of control".
