The first Nazi concentration camps set up in Germany were greatly expanded after the Reichstag fire of 1933, and were intended to hold political prisoners and opponents of the regime. The term was borrowed from the British concentration camps of the Second Anglo-Boer War. The number of camps quadrupled between 1939 and 1942, as slave-laborers from across Europe, Jews, political prisoners, criminals, homosexuals, gypsies, the mentally ill and others were incarcerated, generally without judicial process. Holocaust scholars draw a distinction between concentration camps and extermination camps, which were established by the Nazis for the industrial-scale mass murder of the predominantly Jewish ghetto and concentration camp populations. After September 1939, with the beginning of the Second World War, concentration camps became places where millions of ordinary people were enslaved as part of the war effort, often starved, tortured and killed. During the War, new Nazi concentration camps for "undesirables" spread throughout the continent. Josef Rudolf Mengele (German pronunciation: [ˈjoːzɛf ˈʁuːdɔlf ˈmɛŋɡələ], March 16, 1911 -- February 7, 1979), also known as the Angel of Death (German: Todesengel) was a German SS officer and a physician in the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. In the summer 1941earlier as a military service Mengele was awarded the Iron Cross Second Class for his heroism at the Ukrainian Front. In January 1942, while serving with the SS Wiking Division behind Soviet lines, he pulled two German soldiers from a burning tank, and was awarded the Iron Cross First Class as well as the Wound Badge in Black and the Medal for the Care of the German People. Mengele was wounded during this campaign; since he was medically unfit for combat, Mengele was posted to the Race and Resettlement Office in Berlin. Z: Armoury (Nazi Zombies Weaponry Guide) - The 'Olympia' (Hades)
Welcome to the Call of Duty: Zombies weapons guide. In this guide we will highlight the history and attributes of the weapons. Weapons will also be recommended for specialist use throughout the game. We will be assigning medals to specific guns that best serve certain scenarios, these will include round based medals and the coveted 'Pack-a-Punch' medals (of which there are only ten to be handed out through this series.) This episode focus' on the Olympia. An "Over and Under" designed shotgun, as the barrels are on top of each other. Primarily used for sporting rather than wartime battles. It is the most ineffective weapon in the game, with low damage and bad point accumulation. But the Pack-a-Punch upgrade is a massive improvement, giving the Olympia Incendiary rounds.
