Playing Lil' Kim, was no easy task for singer/actress Naturi Naughton
Notorious, Lil' Kim Naturi Cora Maria Naughton was born on May 20, 1984 in East Orange, New Jersey where she started singing in the choir at New Hope Baptist Church at just 5 years of age. She turned pro by 14, when she became a member of the girl band 3LW. The group soon signed with Sony/Epic Records and went on a nationwide tour while their debut album, entitled "3LW," went platinum, selling 1.3 million copies. Away from the entertainment business, Naturi always remained an honor student, attending Seton Hall University where she majored in Political Science until her career became too demanding. Just before her junior year, she joined the Broadway production of Hairspray as Little Inez. As gifted as gorgeous newcomer may be, she remains humble and grateful to God for her blessings, and praises her parents for supporting her dreams and for raising her with so much love, encouragement, and faith. Here, Naturi talks about her performance as Lil' Kim in the much-anticipated motion picture, Notorious, a bio-pic about the late rapper Notorious BIG (aka Christopher Wallace). In addition, she recently landed a lead role in the re-make of the screen version of Fame, the 1980 musical revolving around students at the New York Academy of Performing Arts. His pioneering study of Chinese economic reform, Growing Out of the Plan: Chinese Economic Reform, 1978-1993 won the Masayoshi Ohira Memorial Prize. NATURI NAUGHTON (Stacie) recently played the lead role of Denise in "Fame," the remake of the popular 1980 dance film, which centered on the students of the New York Academy of Performing Arts. She will next be seen in the supporting role of Chara, alongside Rockmond Dunbar and Nia Long, in the independent feature "Highland Park," about the once glorious community which is on the brink of collapse. Naughton burst onto the motion picture scene in the strong supporting role of iconic female rapper Lil' Kim in the much anticipated motion picture "Notorious," which chronicled the life and death story of famed rapper Notorious BIG (aka Christopher Wallace), who came straight out of Brooklyn to take the world of rap music by storm. Nautri Naughton, former member of R&B/Hip Hop group 3LW (Three Little Women) 1999-2002 - -I always thought she had the best vocals out of the Kiely & Adrienne, but they always pushed her to the back & never gave her lead vocals on most of the songs. Girl Can Mack album she only sang on two of the songs! Their first album she sang on about 6 of the songs. My favorite 3LW songs are Playas Gon' Play, Gettin Too Heavy, Funny (Since Naturi sings lead vocals on those songs!), Uh oh, I Do, Leave with u, Put em up, Ahh Hell Naw, Xmas in the hood, Feelin' You. I have seen 3LW once in concert at the fair in October 2002 with Amanda Perez as the opening act, but at that time Naturi had just left the group & they were referred as 2LW. In August 2002, Naturi Naughton left the group in the middle of a promotional tour over a heated fight with group member Kiely Williams. She later stated in an MTV News interview that she found out that someone was learning her dances as an understudy, which both girls deny this on their appearance on TRL. For months Naughton had been giving into the demands of the group but it became too much for her, there were many fights within the group & she wasn't treated right in the group & barely got any lead vocals. Williams & Naughton never got along too well, due to personality differences, this eventually lead to a plate of KFC food was thrown at Naturi, but Adrienne Bailon had said she (Williams) didn't throw the plate it was her lil 3 year old niece who ...
