This was the show I could never forget and the one that made me view the NOI with even more concern for what they stood for than ever before. This show talks about the issue of slavery betweeb the Arab northern part of the Sudan and the native, African southern part. The things that stood out for me was how the NOI was out of their way to try and convince black America that there was no slavery in Sudan and how we should not concern ourselves with it. This was before any Sudanese issue came up in the mainstream media and of course before the even wanted to show the Sudanese government on American TV, (Jews) fearing that blacks seeing Arabs/Muslims as blacks would chage sides. "Brother Akbar" is here trying to lie to people about Sudan's role in not only slavery, but in the wiping out of the last pieces to the ancient Egyptian/Nubian puzzle/culture in existence. Many of these Africans still retain Egyptian type names and culture, but Islam threatens to finish what it started all of those years ago. Yes, this is the same "Brother Akbar" that Farrakhan uses as the test to dtermine how black one is. Generally, if one is blacker than Akbar, then who needs ot support them? If one is lighter than Akbar, then he could qualify as a northern Sudanese who "look like us" as oppsed to the "black, black, black, black, black - so black they are blue" Sudanese generally seen in the south (although they are in the north too) as Farrakhan is quoted as saying - on video. Along with what may be termed the rise of Orthodox or Sunnite Islaam in America, there has also appeared in the Twentieth century a variety of cults and sects all claiming to represent true Islaam. Most of these groups have or have had strong nationalist overtones and anti-white sentiments in their teachings, which is not surprising, since the vast majority of those who enter the fold of Islaam in America have been Black Americans and the reverberations of white supremacy on which the nation was built, were quite intense throughout the country until recently. The earliest of these groups is the "Moorish Science Temple of America" founded by Timothy Drew from North Carolina (1886-1929). Drew renamed himself Prophet Noble Drew Ali and opened the first branch of his cult in New York in 1913. [EU, Essien-Udom, Black Nationalism, (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1962), p. 33] Drew taught that Black Americans were really "Moorish Americans" or "Moors" and that he had been commissioned by the King of Morocco to preach Islam to Black Americans. [Eric Lincoln, Black Muslims, (Boston: Beacon Press, 1961), p.52] He provided his followers with a Scripture in English which he called Koran but which was in fact the Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ written by Levi H.
