Check out this baby! I always thought that mules were stubborn animals best for carrying pack, I never thought of mules as riding animals. How wrong I was. The mules are large strong and smart animals inheriting the best traits of their parents. They eat less than horses and lower quality food. An Abused Mule Responds to Clicker Training
Watch this amazing clip and see how clicker training works for even the most stubborn of animals. In this example a mule that had been abused and then rescued is afraid of entering a specific stall. The trainer uses clicker training with the mule and the animal is eventually able to overcome the fears. 20 Mule Wagon Train
Here is a demonstration of a 20 hitch mule train being driven by a jerkline. The wagons in this video belong to Bobby Tanner of Ketchum, Idaho. They can be seen in parades and events such as Wagon Days. These are the most well preserved ore wagons in the country, and Hansen Wheel & Wagon Shop helps to keep them in top shape.

The Sound of Silence - Mules Mowing Hay
Nothing could be heard except the click clack of the mowing machines as pairs of mules moved through the tall grass and their handlers were only along for the ride. Across the creek lay a beautiful Cannon County field covered with what some here call weeds, but the field full of purple and yellow was nothing except an art canvas to behold. It was time for bushogging and instead of using gasoline or diesel powered vehicles, Donald Preston turned to mule power to get the job done. Of course, it is a great thing to save the environment, and it's great to think about saving money by not operating farm equipment, but it's also great when a group of friends and family come together to just help one another. Ten pair of mules and their handles met this morning on the farm and about noon they took a lunch break. Food was spread on a farm wagon and everyone enjoyed lunch under cool shade trees, just like in the old days when neighbors came together to help each other and to share a meal. Some of the drivers Saturday included Clifford McCormick, Thomas Summars, Bob Cantrell all from Smart, Tennessee and Cannon County locals Buddy Black, Mike Pemberton, Andy Duggin, David Preston, and Terry Preston. Several others, friends, neighbors and kinfolk enjoyed the day on the farm, just getting back to the basics.
