The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring CR - 12. Moria
This section of the film, charting the Fellowship's experiences in Moria, was the first Shore scored for The Lord of the Rings. These scenes made up a preview presentation for the 2001 Cannes Film Festival and were all performed by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. "This is where I started. I had written Dwarrowdelf, and I had the Shire and Fellowship themes, but these were the very first scenes I wrote," Shore remembers. "It was good to write Moria first because it was a set-piece in the middle of the film. Once I did that I worked my way out of it back to Hobbiton and to Lothlórien. I had the middle of the score done, and that approach seemed to work well." The Moria pieces are among the most cheerless in the score. Shore's music creates an oppressively sinister path for the Fellowship to journey. The Moria music utilizes the deepest, most ghostly sounds in the orchestral array, including a bass drum struck with a large rattle. The male voices sing "Durin's Song" in the harsh, guttural sounds of the Dwarvish language.

Minecraft Mines of Moria June 2011 on Godcraft
The last video i did of Moria was back before we finished the main 2 million block hall. It's been at least 3 months since then, so there's plenty more to cover/show. You can always find the most up to date information on the project thread: godcraft.com First up is the Subway: 1200-1400 blocks long currently, and connects the residential district with the storage rooms with the 4n4w subway station. The tunnel is a circle 13 blocks in diameter. For each block in length, there are 101 blocks that were mined. It wraps around the main hall with 50 blocks buffer space so it's approximately a 300x300 square. Storage: same as viewed in other videos, aproximately 1.7-1.8 million cobble and another 100k-200k dirt/gravel/redstone/flint The hall with the bridge of khazad dum or durin's bridge we call the Balrog Hall. that, the long stairs at the back of the hall and the eastern entrance to Moria are the design of Bodydrag. Not really sure on the statistics on that hall since I wasn't a major part of it's construction. Next we have the Main hall as we call it, 206x206x49 blocks. pillars are 10x10 at the base with 20 blocks open space between them. Construction started in November 2010 and was completed before the end of February 2011. Next up is the residential area, started immediately after the main hall was finished. it may look somewhat large but it's only a fraction of the size of the main hall and took only about a week to dig out.
