Peterborough Model Railway Exhibition 2011 HD

This is my video log of the various Model Railway layouts that were at the Peterborough Model Railway Exhibition 2011 event this year. Thanks goes to all model railway clubs that granted me full permission to film their fantastic layouts. I think I have mainly filmed N gauge layouts as there wasn't many OO gauge model railways to film but I did manage to film a couple of O gauge trains as well which are impressive for detail and size. There is a couple of modern image layouts in N gauge that I found really impressive such as Shaweport, Dragonby and Newcastle-by-the-Water. Well here is the layouts shown in this order on the video. Uppingham: EM Gauge. This layout is quite a classic one as construction started some 35 years ago. It is based on a segment of the Rugby - Peterborough line and it is set in around the early 1900's which therefore makes it a steam era layout. Sadly though, nothing was running on the layout. So I only briefly filmed the scenery and then moved on. Shaweport: N Gauge This modern image layout is set in the mid-1990's right through to present day operations and it has a high density of rail traffic ranging from DMU's to HST's as well as various types of Freight to keep things interesting. This layout has not one but two N gauge Class 92's that are from CJM models. Other freight was hauled by Dapol Class 66's, Graham Farish Class 60's, Dapol Class 58 with Passenger trains with Class 90's, Class 87's and Class 86's with DMU's such as the Class 150 ...

The event saw over 30 layouts in attendance, from N gauge, TT gauge and HO gauge to 009, EM and S gauge and more. The award, as voted for by other exhibitors, for best layout went to Crumley & Little Wickhill. John Emerson, Editor of British Railway Modelling magazine presented the award to the Hull Miniature Railway Society - the group behind the layout.

Garage Model Railway November Update No.15

Another walk-round video showing the changes to the layout over the last 10 months. The most significant change is the continuos run on the new upper level with 2 new long sidings which can both hold a nine coach train and engine. I have also made a dedicated siding for the new TMD which can hold all the spare locomotives. Any other changes have been purely cosmetic. The upper level has added a new dimension to the operating procedures (in other words more complications) I now have 4 main line continuos running which is simply great fun to just sit back and watch trains go by!

Making a T Gauge Coffee Table Model Railway Layout

A sequence of images showing the building of the model railway inside my coffee table. It's Eishindo T Gauge track, around 3mm wide. There's about 7 metres of track inside the table, or more than 3km scale distance. The trains run on 4.5V DC and the landscape is built from XPS foam and modroc.

LITTLEWOOD, British N Gauge Model Railway

This is footage taken of our Modern Image 'N' Gauge Model Railway 'Littlewood' at a Model Railway Exhibition near Wolverhampton. The layout was exhibited all around the UK between 1996 and 2007, attending over 50 shows. The track plan comprises a double track mainline which passes through three levels; on the middle level it is joined by two slow lines, making a quadruple section. The lower level mainline is equipped with overhead catenary for electric services. A disused branch line from the upper level has been taken over by a preservation society, who are in the process of restoring it for steam and diesel operation. The station has been renovated for use as a base for passenger services and locomotive restoration and a limited shuttle service is operating over part of the line. The movement of trains is fully automated using magnets, reed switches and relays. The layout was sold in 2007 and a full description is available at welcome.to

LOXX, large model railway, Berlin

200000 man hours were necessary to dedicately build the well known highlights and urban features of Berlin in miniature: The Reichstag with the Brandenburger Tor, the TV tower at the Alexanderplatz, the Berlin metropolitan railway with the stations Zoologischer Garten, Hackescher Markt, Alexanderplatz, Jannowitzbrücke, Ostbahnhof and Ostkreuz. Furthermore we present to you uncountable lively scenes of Berlin, like the Live Concert in front of the Reichstag. In our Phantasy-Area you find numerous landscapes and scenes such as passenger railway stations, goods and freight train traffic and harbor facilities as well as German Armed Forces barracks.

Model Railway Exhibition 2010 Pt 6

The 33rd model railway exhibition by the Mid Essex Model Railway Club on the 18th Sept 2010 at Shenfield High School. Exhibiter 29 is "Widnes Road" by Paul Smith in 4mm scale. "A finescale DCC layout, set in the North-West during the mid 1980's. Although a fictional scene, the concept is based on a small fuelling point, shed & small P-Way yard. Built to serve an off-scene marshalling yard for Runcorn & Widnes industrial complexes including ICI chemical works: inspired by visits to Warrington Bank Quay in the late 80's & 90's. The layout features scale length hand-built C&L turnouts & trackwork, with extensive use of model lighting. Stock is typically from the early 80's up to the introduction of 'large logo' blue & much is either resprayed or weathered; detailed & all stock is Kadee fitted." Exhibiter 30 is "Horsted Keynes" by Alan Brewster in N gauge. "A junction station on the line originally built from Lewes to East Grinstead, operated from 1882 by LBSCR up to 1923 when it became part of the Southern Railway. In 1948 it along with the rest of the UK was nationalised to become part of British Railways. Taking 10 years to build, the layout represents life in the 1950's & the atmosphere of that part of Southern England. The station now forms part of the Bluebell Railway. Stock is being developed to give a more accurate collection of that run on the line during the time modelled. Special trains run as part of the operations, depicting the latter days of the line before ...

My Model Railway 2 years in the making class 37, 24, Deltic, Windsor Castle, City of Sheffield, Sir Nigel Gresley

Warley Model Railway Exhibition 2009 Part 1

Its that time of the year again and this is my third year that I have attended the Warley Model Railway Exhibition event is held every year at the Birmingham NEC which is in Birmingham, United Kingdom. This year the event was hosted on the 21st and 22nd of November 2009 and all footage in this video was filmed on the 21/11/2009 as I attended on the Saturday. This video has been split into three parts due to the 10 minute limit and there is NO audio to accompany the images of the new releases that I took at the event. I have chosen not to use music for copyright and legal reasons, but there is original sound present with the video clips and some model trains have DCC sound fitted in them. There is a very impressive Dutch Modern Image N-Gauge Model Layout in this part of the three part video which has to be one of the best N gauge Continental Model Layouts that I have seen at any events that I have attended in the past. One of the layout operators that I was speaking to while filming the trains in action informed me that the NS1800 locomotive operated by NS in Holland is made by Minitrix and not by Fleischmann as I thought. Fleischmann make the NS1600 locomotive which looks very similar to the NS1800 locomotive. There is also a very impressive N gauge layout by MG Sharp that are based in Sheffield which is made up of Kato Unitrack and the rolling stock used is in the shape of the RENFE S-100 "Euromed" and several Japanese rolling stock like the Super Hitachi tilting unit ...

Some more footage of my model railway. The layout is approx 24 by 13 feet and is set somewhere in England in the 1980's. Once again, HSTs are seen speeding around withe the superb Cl 50 hauling rakes of NSE coaches and Cl56 hauling long freight trains. Thanks for those who have given feedback, I am trying to slow them down...

Peterborough Model Railway Exhibition Part 1

Here is my footage of the Model Railway Exhibition which was held on the 17th and the 18th of October 2009 at the East Of England Showground in Peterborough, United Kingdom. The video was taken on the 17 of October 2009 and this video has been split into three parts because of the 10 minute restriction on YouTube. All stills in this video have no sound and I have chosen NOT to include background music for legal and copyright reasons, but all video footage does have its original sound though. This video starts off with some stills of several new Hornby releases at their Hornby Stand which was located just inside the second hall. These incude the new EWS Management train which will feature the new MkIII DVT Model (although it is originally classed as a "DLV" which means "Driving Luggage Van" and not a DVT (Driving Van Trailer). Also there was the MkIII DLV in Virgin Trains livery and this model is numbered 82150 which will be available to buy as a stand alone model from December this year. Also in new releases there was the new Hornby Class 395 "Javelin" Model and two new Pullman VSOE carriages as well as some more DCC sound fitted models to expand the Hornby DCC Sound range like the Class 31, Class 50 and the 9F which sound quite impressive. The layouts shown here in this part of the video are Bishop Wearburn which is a classic steam based layout, Holland Park Intermodal Container Terminal.

Black Springs - Australian Model Railway Layout - Box Hill 2004 鉄道模型

HO scale layout featuring lots of Australian prototype trains from the VR and AN stables. Although the layout ran trains from different eras the train compositions were just what you'd expect to see from the lineside in Western Victoria or SA. Long freight and passenger trains were regularly seen, along with smaller freight trains with a mix of bogie and 4 wheel wagons. The "Ghan" NR seen on this layout was a pre-production sample of the loco now available from Austrains, and certainly turned a lot of heads whenever it ran past. The AN silver/green CLP was also a very nice loco, and for a bit of variety we get to see some steam action too. Filmed at box hill exhibition 2004.

Trip Around Lauritzen Gardens Model Railroad - pt 1 of 3

Enjoy the trip around the seven levels of Omaha's Botanical Gardens G Scale Model Railway exhibit. Each trip will take between two and five minutes as we chug across covered bridges, through tunnels, and over twenty five foot high trestles! On this edition we will be traveling the Big Boy Line and the Passenger Line. These are the upper most two levels on this beautiful garden railroad. The garden was meticulously handcrafted by landscape designer Paul Busse and his team at Kentucky-based Applied Imagination. See www.appliedimagination.biz. The garden's structural elements are constructed of natural materials such as leaves, twigs, bark, berries, pinecones, gourds and cinnamon sticks. It includes stunning reproductions of natural landscapes as well as recognizable buildings and landmarks seen in and around Omaha. The flora throughout the exhibit includes live plants, trees and shrubs - all scaled to size - and continuously manicured. Due to many generous donations, this model railroad garden exists. I'd like to thank everyone who made this possible! It truly is a wonderful place. Note* The Big Boy was out of commission due to one of the bridges on that line having a break in one of the tension cables. The engine alone weighs eighty-five pounds, so there is a potential of it crashing to the ground when crossing the bridge. As a substitute, I ran two GP9's. All the trains make their own noises. Magnets in the track tell the train when to set off a bell or whistle.

Dads Model Railway - May 2010

Loosely based on the old Scottish Railnetwork, this project started off incorporating Western Stations but this labour of love over the years whilst still ongoing and forever changing as you can see how spread across Scotland, but always........Scotland. This layout is built in the old servants quarters of Dad's House and takes up the top floor. I keep telling him if he's not careful, it might spread "Underground" and downstairs to the next floor, well Glasgow does have an "Upper" and a "Lower" ;-) Hope you enjoy watching if you're a Model Railway fan like Dad, or even if you've just happened to come across this vid by accident. SORRY ABOUT THE SPELLING MISTAKE OF STIRLING **update** 2nd vid is now on www.youtube.com

Littleton Curve - an N Gauge Model Railway

Littleton Curve was built at roughly the same time as 'Abingdon' and was designed to (hopefully) show that a scenic model railway could be built in a small space (2ft 6in by 2ft). It was constructed using proprietary kits and bits to demonstrate that you don't have to be able to scratchbuild to build a model railway. Its small size allowed us to take it to exhibitions by train as we don't drive. The layout appeared in the May 1997 issue of Railway Modeller. Recently, while exhibiting 'Rorgyle', Littleton Curve has been provisionally invited to appear at a couple exhibitions in the future.

Model World - Model Railways 1 (Part 2 of 2)

Originally shown on Saturday mornings in 1975. Part of the 'Model World' series of modelling programs hosted by Bob Symes. The last three programs of the series were all about model railways. For those of us of a certain age, these programs hosted by Bob Symes, introduced and opened up the fantastic world of models, and for me personally, model railways. I therefore consider it selfish to keep the now aging vhs tape of these model railway programs (videoed some almost fifteen years ago), to myself. These model railway programs along with childhood hero Bob Symes (who id still like to meet) remain personally as fantastic and inspiring today, as they were all them years ago as a child. I hope you still enjoy them today as much as I still do. Enjoy.
