The test firing the Agni five missile was postponed after bad weather conditions yesterday. The test took place today from Wheeler Island in Odisha. The missile has a range of 5000 kilometres, a marked improvement over India's current missiles which can hit potential enemy targets over a distance of just 3500 kilometres. DRDO plans to conduct more such tests of the missile over the next one year after studying and analyzing the parameters achieved in each subsequent trial. The Agni V is capable of carrying nuclear warheads and will be crucial for India's defence against China. IAF to counter new missiles
The Israel Air Force is drafting a new operational doctrine aimed at improving its ability to confront the proliferation of advanced surface-to-air missile systems throughout the region. The plan called "White Paper," is under development by the IAF's Operations Division and includes an analysis of each front that Israel faces -- Syria, Lebanon and Gaza -- as well as the different SAM systems that are located in the various areas of operations. The White Paper plan also includes a number of layers -- from the development of hard kills (explosive) systems to the formulation of new flight guidelines depending on the area of operations.

Japan wants missile shield against N.Korean rockets
North Korea has announced it will launch a rocket next month, which will put a satellite into orbit. But the US and its allies see the plans as counter to international diplomatic efforts to deal with the reclusive state's nuclear programme - and are worried the technology could be used to develop long range missiles in the future. It could also potentially violate UN Security Council resolutions, and threatens last month's deal between North Korea and the Washington. Under this, Pyonyang was to freeze its uranium weapons program and its long-range missile activities - in return for American food aid. Japan's has responded by deploying its own missile defense system to shoot down any rocket threatening its territory. The US missile defense shield based in Eastern Europe has been under heavy criticism from Russia. The shield - which is being put in place to protect NATO countries - has Russian officials questioning the United State's intentions. India's self reliance in defence capabilities is set for a major shot in the arm. Defence Minister AK Antony will hand over the first batch of Akash surface-to-air missiles to the Indian Air Force in Hyderabad on Saturday. He will also commission Tal, an advanced indigenously developed lightweight torpedo, to the Indian Navy. The weapon systems will greatly enhance the air force and navy's strike capabilities. The sad thing is this was all recorded in a few hours. TV missiles are a lot of fun to use now, but I think they need a lot of tweaking. Just a few tips, if you're a pilot, tilt up your helicopter's nose that way the gunner can TV missile effectively. Also, if you are TV missiling choppers, try hitting him from the top. Hey guys. Please tweet this to the dice devs so they know about the problem. Helicopters have never once had a polished feel, ever since the game came out it's always been something. Currently whats wrong with helicopters: TV missiles still blow up your own helicopter, aa missiles miss jets and often other helicopters, helicopter gunner barely hurts jets, ECM has a random chance to distract incoming missiles, gunner flares often don't work, TV missiles still don't detonate at the right time causing 0 damage for a direct impact, flares don't distract laser guided missiles, no counter to another helicopter with laser painter and guided missile, stingers don't damage helicopters if shot directly in the front.. THIS GAME HAS BEEN OUT FOR SIX MONTHS. FIX THIS SHIT! Video: Iran test-fires long range missiles on last day of drill
Iran has test-fired a surface-to-surface cruise missile in a naval drill, after the country threatened to close the strategic Strait of Hormuz, the passageway for one-sixth of the world's oil supply. The missile, called "Ghader," or "Capable" in Arabic, was test-fired on Monday, according to Iranian State TV. An earlier version of the same cruise missile had a range of 124 miles (200 kilometres) and could travel at low altitudes. US Downs Test Missile with New Interceptor, Designed to Deter Iran and North Korea
US forces said they had destroyed a target in the first successful test of the Navy's newest anti-missile interceptor, designed to protect allies from attacks by countries like North Korea and Iran. The Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency said, a target ballistic missile was downed near Hawaii late on Wednesday (May 9) by the latest Raytheon Co-built Standard Missile-3 interceptor. The advanced interceptor is key to the next phase of an anti-missile shield being built by the United States in and around Europe. The United States plans to deploy increasingly capable SM-3 versions up to around 2020 to boost defenses against missiles that could be fired by Iran and North Korea. "Initial indications are that all components performed as designed," the agency said in an emailed statement. The interceptor, called the SM-3 Block 1B, had failed to knock out its target in its maiden intercept test in September. This led to a continuing delay in Raytheon's production. In the drill on Wednesday, a short-range ballistic target missile was launched from the Pacific Missile Range Facility, located on Kauai, Hawaii, MDA said.

New Royal Navy Submarine Fires First Tomahawk Missiles Across North American Skies
The Royal Navy's newest submarine, HMS Astute, has blasted Tomahawk missiles far across the North American skies, as part of its first test firing mission. Pictures show the Tomahawk weapons, which rocketed from HMS Astute at up to 550 miles per hour (885kph) across the Gulf of Mexico. The 5.5-metre-long cruise missile weighs 1300kg and has a range of more than 1000 miles.
