Post Debate Review - Anarchism Versus Minarchism
Some thoughts about Sunday's debate with Jan Helfeld on Anarchism versus Minarchism
Sympathy for the Minarchist...
www.freedomainradio.com mp3 www.freedomainradio.com Sympathy for the Minarchist Dec 2007 Please allow me to introduce myself I'm your average minarchist The state is force but I'll say you can Put a glove around the fist I was around when Socrates First used logic to debate Made damn sure 'democracy' Drowned his words and sealed his fate Pleased to meet you I'm sure you know my name But what's puzzling me Is why you play my game In Roman times new liberty Bought the wealth that set men free They overthrew their overlords And almost lived without a fee I whispered soft "You need the state" Bought 'democracy' With false currency Pleased to meet you Sure you know my name But what's puzzling me Is why you play my game I watched in fear When America Overthrew a peer For a taxless state I shouted out "Who'll make the roads you need?" You stood and stared And the state was saved Let me please introduce myself I'm your average minarchist And I lay traps for anarchists Who get stalled before they reach the truth Pleased to meet you I'm sure you know my name But what's puzzling me Is just why you play my game Just as every state is false anarchy And statelessness is peace The state protects What it pillages And it just can't be restrained So if you meet me I will lie to you 'bout the roads, defense and schools Use all your well-learned UPB Or I'll lay your soul to waste, um yeah
Minarchist-Libertarianism (Responding to Comments)
Ron Paul, Minarchy, American Ideologies, Classical Liberalism, Libertarianism, Murder, Fascism, and other things. Responding to comments. I'm just addressing basic trends in the comments that I received. This is clarification. Some people got confused regarding certain things I was talking about. This video jumps around a bit. I highly recommend watching the whole video before discussing or debating. MAJOR POINTS I TOUCH ON: 1. I was talking about American politics, not European politics 2. I was STATING my opinion, not arguing it. 3. I hate Ron Paul 4. I'm a Minarchist-Libertarian, not an anarchist. 5. Modern American liberalism includes big government in economy, but less in social issues. 6. Classical liberalism is different than Modern day American Liberalism. 7. I'm not an anarchist-I support the state punishing crimes like murder. 8. We are not just a Republic-but Technically we are supposed to be a Democratic-Republic 9. However, as far as I'm concerned, we are neither anymore...we are Fascist 10. I have yet to actually argue my points. Why Im NOT a Minarchist
This is just a small synopsis of why I am not a minarchist. This video in no real way goes into depth, but it does cover the major flaws. Im not a huge fan of Stefan Molyneux, but here, I believe is a fairly good debate between him and minarchist Michael Badnarik on minarchism vs anarchism. freedomainradio.com Police www.youtube.com www.youtube.com Courts www.youtube.com Defense www.youtube.com The myth of the social contract www.youtube.com
Minarchists are statists.
Anarchist artists Victor Pross lays it down where the political Minarchist is on the ethical chart -Anarchist 1, minarchists 0. Why the minarchist violates the non-aggression principle "The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable, and so, if he is romantic, he tries to change it. And even if he is not romantic personally he is very apt to spread discontent among those who are." - HL Mencken
Minarchist talks to the Anarchist - the "GreeneWave.com" talk
This video is a follow up solo talk regarding my appearance on Christopher Greene's "State of the Union? How about Global War & Anarchy?" Funding a Minarchist state
How do we fund a Minarchist state without violating the non aggression principal?
What the Minarchist and Anarchist have in common!
The Miniarchist (small government advocates) and the Anarchist have a beef with each other. You see, the anarcho-capitalist advocates abolishing the state and the miniarchist wishes to preserve it, but to have it minimized. For the miniarchist, in the strictest sense, the state is necessary and that its only legitimate function is the protection of individuals from aggression, theft, breach of contract, and fraud, and the only legitimate governmental institutions are the military, police, and courts. (For another hue of miniarchists, it also includes fire departments, prisons, the executive, and legislatures as legitimate government functions. Minarchist states are called "night watchman states.") Anarchist philosopher Murray Rothbard argued that all government services, including defence, are inefficient because they lack a market-based pricing mechanism regulated by the voluntary decisions of consumers purchasing services that fulfill their highest-priority needs and by investors seeking the most profitable enterprises to invest in. Therefore, the state's monopoly on the use of force is a violation of natural rights. He wrote, "The defence function is the one reserved most jealously by the State. It is vital to the State's existence, for on its monopoly of force depends its ability to exact taxes from the citizens. If citizens were permitted privately owned courts and armies, then they would possess the means to defend themselves against invasive acts by the government ...

Silly Arguments for the State: To avoid being preyed upon, we should prey upon each other.
I strongly encourage those who make this argument to stand up for consistency and to take their chances in a truly free and just world rather than making the argument for keeping the patently evil entity called the state for fear of true liberty. Maybe it just seems easier to be a minarchist, but the ideas are contrary to the very basic ideals of libertarianism.

Re: Questions For Market Anarchists
Answering questions from statist superangrymonkey: 1. "In a lawless society, what prevents me from gathering ten of my friends, coming into your home, killing you, and taking all your shit?" 2. "In a MA society, would there be a police force and a military force? If not, who protects your rights to liberty and property?" And challenging him to answer his own questions from the minarchist standpoint, because the minarchist framework definitely cannot answer them. The Voluntary City on Amazon: www.amazon.com
Helfeldz Piratz
A visual accompaniment to Jan Helfeld's outrageous Minarchist argument that couldn't be farther from reality. As for the last segment - simply a joke. In a voluntary society violence of this nature would rarely occur and would always be a *last resort* in resolving conflicts.
Open Video for Christopher Greene - Bad Anarchy Rising Everywhere!
Open Video Blog for Christopher Greene - Bad Anarchy Rising Everywhere! As a philosophical anarchist, I try to persuade Minarchist Christopher Greene - a man who fully acknowledges the value of alternative News as opposed to the Propaganda of mainstream media - to fully acknowledge the existence of ALTERNATIVE IDEAS as opposed to mainstream CULTURE. "Look at the Forest, Chris - not just a bark of wood!" Works from anarchist thinker Stefan Molyneux: Molyneux is the author of several non-fiction books. He has written On Truth: The Tyranny of Illusion, Universally Preferable Behaviour: A Rational Proof of Secular Ethics, Real-Time Relationships: The Logic of Love, Everyday Anarchy, Practical Anarchy, How (Not) To Achieve Freedom, Against the Gods, and most recently The Handbook of Human Ownership: A Manual for New Tax Farmers.[4][5] Molyneux has also written two fiction books, The God of Atheists and Revolutions. Murray Newton Rothbard (March 2, 1926 -- January 7, 1995) was an American economist, historian and political theorist. He was a prominent exponent of the Austrian School of economics who helped to define capitalist libertarianism, and he popularized a form of free-market anarchism which he termed "anarcho-capitalism."[ A Must read: www.lewrockwell.com
